The Secret of the Gnomes

by smart100000

--------

You may pass by a garden with a cute Halloween Gnome in it and think “Oh! How cute!” But these gnomes are not ordinary gnomes. Usually anyway. The only exceptions are the ones that have been purified. Purified Halloween Gnomes are quite expensive, so it would be cheaper to do it yourself. In this guide, I’ll teach you the dangers of Halloween Gnomes and a bit of their biology, as well as how to purify them. If you can purify them, you’ll be rewarded with 10,000 NP from the Gnome Society (I’ll explain later), and a safe garden.

Gnome Biology

The thing that makes Halloween Gnomes dangerous is the Halloween NeoGlaze. Crafted by Krelufun Industries, this special glaze gives the Halloween Gnomes a very sinister and cute look. But that’s not all it does. Due to the bad conditions in the factory (there’s liquid Kreludite on the ground!), the glaze mutated. The Halloween Gnomes were discontinued, but the Garden Shop still gets several shipments of them occasionally. The Halloween NeoGlaze slowly fills the hollow insides of a Halloween Gnome with what is known as “Neoranium.” The Neoranium fills the Gnome until the Gnome cannot hold anymore. Then the mass of Neoranium causes the molecules inside the Gnome to become unstable. They cause a miniature explosion, which fills the Gnome with more gas and causes more explosions. They continue until the NeoGlaze gains a special ability to absorb Neoranium. Then, the absorbed Neoranium causes the Gnome to develop artificial intelligence. Though not as complex as a robotic neopet, it is still enough to be very dangerous. They can communicate with another. I intercepted a signal from one of these. It’s on a pirate broadcast, so their communications cannot be tracked by an ordinary radio. It will appear as silence unless the communication device (usually the gnome’s body) has Halloween NeoGlaze. When I was a beginner Purifier, I could not purify one of my gnomes. I had to destroy it, but before I did so, I took some of its NeoGlaze for this purpose. I placed Halloween Neoglaze on my radio and listened.

“BZZZT; Agent 1930 purified BZZZT; Must find another agent BZZZT; Plan 19 requires 1,930 agents.

BZT; Blumaroo BZT; Purification Levels : 0

BZZZT; Accepted BZZZT; Agent 1930 replaced BZZZT; Resume plan”

Their Quest

The Halloween Gnomes intend to destroy Neopia. Though they cannot move their limbs, they can release large amounts of Neoranium to temporarily shift their consciousness into another being. Authorities believe that Dr. Sloth was exposed to a huge amount of Neoranium which caused the transformation to become permanent. The Gnome Society believes that many pets have been infected with Neoranium. The Gnomes’ quest is to slowly gain control of most of Neopia’s population. They occasionally develop plans to speed their journey. They caused many of the wars by taking over important leaders and aggravating another land. The Gnomes took many soldiers and converted them into Gnomes. Their current plan, Plan 26, is currently in action. Once most of the population is converted, they can begin their invasion without interference.

Purification

To make a Halloween Gnome safe, you must either destroy the Gnome or convert it. You may just want to destroy the gnome and be done with it, but conversion has many benefits. Not only do you get to keep the Gnome and get 10,000 Neopoints from the Gnome Society, the purified Gnome sends out an aura that will reverse the effects of Neoranium on a pet, freeing it of a Gnome’s control. The Gnome Society is trying to collect as many purified Gnomes as possible and is stocking them up in their headquarters. The more purified Gnomes, the stronger and larger the aura will be. If they can collect 10,000, it will be enough to protect all of Neopia. To purify a gnome, you must do these following steps.

1. Take it to the Healing Springs and put it in the enchanted water. The Gnome will be rendered useless for 30 minutes. You must complete the rest of the steps before then, or you must restart.

2. Go to the Haunted Woods and complete an Edna Quest. If you are carrying a Gnome, the Gnome will gain 1 purification point. (Total of 1.)

3. Go to Mystery Island and dropping a drop of lava from Techo Mountain on the Gnome. It will gain another purification point. (Total of 2.)

4. Visit Maraqua and dip the Gnome in the waters of the Underwater Fishing Cavern. It will gain 2 points!!! (Total of 4.)

5. Journey back to Faerieland and place the Gnome in the Rainbow Fountain’s waters . The enchanted waters will give the Gnome its last purification point and expel the evil essence inside of it, as well as washing off all of the NeoGlaze. Depending on how much NeoGlaze was used for the Gnome, it may take a minute to several days for the waters to purify the Gnome. And while you are waiting for a Gnome to purify, you cannot start purifying another Gnome.

Price Guide

If you do decide to buy one to purify, then I commend your bravery and dedication. Many of them are quite expensive, but the cheaper ones have more Halloween NeoGlaze, which makes them harder to purify and far more dangerous. Here’s a list of all the Halloween Gnomes, their prices (from cheapest to most expensive), as well as how much Halloween NeoGlaze was used to paint it. I’d suggest that you get the Halloween Ruki Gnome, for, the 10,000 NP that you’ll spend buying them will be refunded by the Gnome Society.

The Gnome Society

The Gnome Society is a secret organization of Neopians dedicated to destroying or purifying each Halloween Gnome. It was founded by Daioro Chokato when he learned of the Gnomes’ plans. He went to many communities and taught them about Gnomes. If you manage to purify a Gnome, you will receive 10,000 Neopoints in the mail and a shiny Trophy to show their gratitude for helping Neopia. If you decide to send them the purified Gnome, not only will it help Neopia be safe, they will send you an additional 10,000 Neopoints and will raise one of your active pets stats by 7 whopping points! Rumor has it, that if you send in 75 Gnomes, they will reward you with a Halloween Paint Brush! Nobody’s confirmed it, but you’ll be helping Neopia and you’re getting 20,000 Neopoints and a massive stat increase. Have fun purifying your Gnomes and helping Neopia! Disclaimer: This entire article was made up! There is no Gnome invasion. The only bit of truth on this guide is that Halloween Gnomes are cute and the price guide.
