Neopets Career Day - Top 12 Jobs Your Pets Can Do

by elania123

--------

Well, you knew it would happen the day you adopted that cute little fur-ball, but you've been putting it to the back of your mind. Your pet wants a job. So how do you, as a loving caring owner find the perfect job that your pet will adore, but that won't leave them too tired to play with you? This article aims to look at some of your options.

You can start at the Faerie Employment Agency. This is for serious job hunters and the result of these jobs will be displayed on their lookup page. To get a job, you can either turn up and hope, or buy a job coupon, and er, hope. The coupons range from green (about 30-50k) up to a Gold Brightvale Job Coupon (around 375k). Usually with jobs, you will need to find a certain number of a certain type of items in a certain amount of time, your pet will then be rewarded with an amount of Neopoints. I'm sure everyone has worked out the flaw in this brilliant plan; you could easily spend more points on a coupon and buying the items than you are rewarded. Blast!

So let's talk about other types of jobs.

1. Most importantly there is a paper round. How are people all across Neopia going to read this quality paper without someone to deliver it? This will be especially good if your pet owns a bicycle already and doesn't mind early mornings (yuck!). It doesn't pay much, but there is fresh air and all the newspapers you can eat.

2. Faerie helper. If your pet is a kind soul who likes the idea of helping at the Soup Kitchen, or fetching pencil sharpeners for the faerie crossword, this could be their ideal job. They will spend a lot of time in the clouds of Faerieland, so a good head for heights is essential.

3. Your pet could work in the food industry. A little different from the soup helper above, this is much more stressful. There are lots of restaurants in Neopia, all needing wait staff or chefs, from Cafe Kreludor to 'kelp'. Your pet will need to be fast on their feet and able to keep smiling. If they work hard, they could be manager of one of Neopia Central’s hotels one day.

4. Game helper. Either apprentice your pet to an existing game steward like Jake of Caves and Corridors (after all, they will want a break one day), or help your pet set up a game of their own; every successful game started somewhere. You could both be rolling in Neopoints soon, or just rolling in broken arrows from Ultimate Bullseye.

5. Adventuring. Your pet can pack up their father's old sword and roam the myriad areas of Neopia with their trusty companions looking for vampire bearogs and fighting for truth, justice and huge piles of gold. Good if your pet likes to travel.

6. Stock Broker. Face it, you've always envied Nigel the Chia his gorgeous car, and it isn't even like he has any competition. Set up a portfolio and buy buy buy, sell sell sell. Are you a bear or a bull? I've got no idea either, but this could be how to find out. This might not be such a good job if your pet doesn’t have a head for figures and sums; the market can go down as well as up. Your pet could lose everything!

7. Courtier. King Hagan seems to be in need of pearls of wisdom and King Skarl needs to be cheered up, King Roo just needs a steady supply of dice. If you are funny enough or wise enough, maybe you could get a permanent job, but be warned, Kings Hagan and Skarl have awful tempers. If they decide you aren’t impressive enough, you will be out on your ear(s).

8. Gladiator. Your pet could make their living by fighting in the Battledome. This is likely to be very expensive in initial outlay on weapons and Codestones (or Dubloons) for training, but your pet could get some brilliant trophies and the respect of all those around them. The downside is that respect is great, but you won't earn any Neopoints for it.

9. Explorer. There are new worlds being discovered all the time, from Lutari Island to Shenkuu to Altador; in the last year, brave pets have found (or re-found) an amazing number of new lands. Could your pet really be the one to discover Jelly World, or prove once and for all that it doesn't exist?

10. Interior Designer. You think all those beautiful Neohomes just ‘happen’? No, without a professional designer, you could end up with stories and no staircases, or rooms without doors! This is a great job if your pet has natural artistic talent and isn’t afraid to wield a paintbrush.

11. Tour Guide. Lots of places in Neopia offer tours, from Mystery Island to Kiko Lake. Maybe take your pet on a tour around these spots to see if they would like to work there; talk to the other guides and get a feel for what it would be like to work there.

Lastly your pet can join the ranks of Dr. Sloth and Lord Darigan and try to take over the whole of Neopia. This is the perfect job if your pet is a science wiz, has a particularly impressive laugh or really doesn't like faeries (but they're so fun and cute!).

Having covered the jobs your pet could do, we should briefly consider the jobs that you should never, under any circumstances, allow them to do. These include: professional Snowager waker, chef to Mambo Pango, ‘Fetch’er in the Haunted Woods, helper at the Haunted Fairgrounds, Turmaculus prodder, Kreludor miner and lastly, the worst job in all Neopia, you could be the member of the Neopets Team in charge of plot prizes!

We’ve covered several Neopet jobs for your pet that you might not have thought of, but remember, the final decision has to be your pet's and should reflect the skills that they have and the things that they enjoy. There is no point in sending your pet off to be an adventurer because you think they look dashing with a sword if they are allergic to the armor.
