Gaming Skeiths

by wokitana

--------

Skeith Day is a Neopian holiday to celebrate all Skeiths, big and small, famous or not. Most Skeiths are not recognized for their gaming skills, but there are actually a surprising number of Skeiths featured in games. We are here to help you celebrate today to the fullest with all the gaming Skeiths, from well-known Skeiths like King Hagan and King Skarl to the lesser known ones like the blue one in Hungry Skeith whose name is unknown.

Bartleby – Armada

Bartleby is a grizzly old pirate Skeith who plays Armada against Kavennagh, the elderly captain pirate Kyrii. Their days of buccaneering on the high seas have long passed them by, and nowadays Kavennagh and Bartleby love to spend every afternoon reliving their past glories with a friendly game of Armada.

Armada is a multiplayer game where you are matched against some other fellow Neopian by joining the monthly competition tournaments or checking in to see if someone is already hosting a fun game. You have to use a well planned strategy to take over all of your opponent's ships on a game board so you can dominate the high seas! Planning your moves in advance and taking into consideration your opponent’s moves is highly important as ships can move adjacent and even jump to capture any of the opponent’s ships that are adjacent to your landing spot. If you move a ship adjacent to its original space another ship is created but if you jump a square on the board you will remain with the same number of ships you originally had. The background of the ship that you or your opponent move or duplicate will become purple instead of blue. When there is no other place to move on the board, the player with the most ships wins the game.

You can play this game with a neofriend, someone at random, or join a monthly competition for some exclusive prizes which include a shiny, fairly easy to get gold trophy.

Haskol – Cellblock

In the prison dungeons of Darigan Citadel, the anomalous and evil prison warden, Master Vex, forces his inmates to play Cellblock, which is a strategy game of his invention. Guard Two and one of the eight opponents is Haskol, the Darigan Skeith. Master Vex tells the prisoners that if they win they are free to move out of the dungeons!

Haskol is one of the eight opponents you have to face in a whole tournament. He is a brute that wins most of the Cellblock games, mainly due to the fact that whenever he loses he tends to throw a temper tantrum and inflict bodily harm to his opponents. So if you want to keep your arms or legs intact, it is highly recommended to let this crazy Skeith wins!

Cellblock is a simple fun game where you have to align five of your pieces in a straight line be it vertical, horizontal or diagonal, before your computer based opponent does. Your pieces are in the Meridell colours while your opponent’s pieces have the image of Lord Darigan. If you do not manage to align five pieces and the board has no more empty spaces you still lose the game. In tournaments one to ten, the board is set to start with two of your pieces and two of your opponent's pieces in the middle of the board. After the tenth tournament the pieces on the board are set down differently. In each tournament you have eight opponents which have to be defeated so that you can progress to the next tournament which obviously will be harder. As the tournament level increases, so do the number of games you have to win to beat one player and you have to win the majority of the number of games presented. For example if there are three games you have to win two to progress to the next opponent. From the eleventh tournament upwards the game is set to be very difficult and no pieces are placed on the board with only some rocks scattered around so that you cannot put your pieces there.

You can win a gold trophy after beating level eight of tournament eleven and also a nifty avatar at a certain point in the game.

King Skarl - Grumpy Old King

King Skarl of Meridell is the brother of King Hagan of Brightvale and he is not happy as Meridell was previously destroyed by the forces of Darigan Citadel in the Battle for Meridell plot which was held in Year 6 (2004). After gaining power with the downfall of Lord Darigan, Lord Kass instructed his followers to attack Meridell before they get attacked by King Skarl which was a lie. King Skarl was later mesmerised by a court dancer sent by Kass so that he would not take action and loose the battle. With the aid of Lisha, Skarl came out of the spell and prepared a counter attack against Kass who did not give up easily to the army Skarl had sent which was led by Jeran. Later on, the ghost of Lord Darigan appeared and defeated Kass once and for all.

Try making King Skarl laugh in this game by using all or some of the options you get in dialogue boxes to tell him a silly joke in the form of a question and answer. If he is in hysterics Skarl rewards you with an item. There is an avatar related to this if you choose the right question and answer and Skarl gets hysteric. This is the Blumaroo Court Jester Avatar. If you only get a chuckle he still rewards you with an item. Sometimes he thanks you and rewards you with neopoints. At other times he considers your statements as the worst joke ever and he bashes you out of the kingdom and rewards you with the Moody Avatar. You can also get a shiny gold new trophy if your score is high enough.

King Hagan - Wise Old King

As already mentioned King Hagan is King Skarl's older and wiser brother, who rules over the kingdom of Brightvale. Both Hagan and his kingdom are known for wisdom and intelligence. If you impress him with some wisdom of your own, you can be greatly rewarded.

Here on the throne, King Hagan welcomes you to say your wise words! Play this game by using all or some of the options you get in dialogue boxes to tell him your wise words in the form of a statement. If he gives you an A+ you will receive a rare item and some Neopoints. You may also randomly be awarded the wise old king avatar and a trophy. If he gives you a B he awards you with a book. He might say that he already knew that, though if he gives you an F-, you get a scolding!

King Hagan - Biscuit brigade

Again we have King Hagan, ruler of Brightvale and King Skarl, ruler of Meridell are brothers who are both honoured for successfully leading their lands in the most righteous way. King Hagan persists on philosophy, wisdom and learning while grumpy King Skarl’s is way too greedy.

In this war game you play as Hagan who is trying to protect his biscuits from being eaten by his ever hungry brother Skarl. Skarl uses his toy soldiers to try to steal his brother’s biscuits which are kept in a tower. Skarl continuously builds toy soldiers and sends them scurrying towards your castle to steal your biscuits. All you have to do is to build different turrets such as rocket/cannon launchers, net/bag/sludge/paint throwers to destroy and keep out Skarl’s toy soldiers from entering your castle and steal the biscuits. There are twenty waves in total with each wave being more difficult than the one before it. If a cookie is stolen, points will be deducted accordingly and this will decrease you final score and might interfere in getting you a gold trophy. The final score depends also on how much towers you build to protect your castle, as each tower and its upgrades are worth a certain amount of points which will also be deducted from your final score affecting the type of trophy you will get in the end.

Baby King Hagan/Baby King Skarl - Castle Battles

Once again we have another game with King Hagan against King Skarl. This time they are babies. Apparently their sibling rivalry goes WAY back! Since we are already pretty familiar with the two of them we'll just move right on to game play.

This game is an extremely simple game and full of fun to play. With a little practice you can easily win a trophy for your user look up. You start the game by choosing from two different castles. The big one is probably the best to choose as it gives a much wider place where you can hide your treasure chest. Then you hide your treasure chest using your mouse. You play Hagan and the goal is the capture Skarl's treasure before he captures yours! Use your arrow keys, aim your target at where you'd like to hit Skarl's castle, press your space bar to charge and fire!

Knocking down flags and blocks protecting the treasure chest gives you extra points. Once you knock the treasure chest you beat the level and you can choose to move your treasure around so it's more protected. If Skarl manages to knock your chest off your green square where you have placed it, you lose the level and the game.

Bigsby Shadington – Wonderclaw

Bigsby Shadington is the plushie Skeith that invented this wonderful game. Up to date nothing is known about him but one can find him in Neopia Central at the NC Mall hosting this game which is basically an arcade with claw grabbers released in the Y15 (2013). You will need to purchase widget packs with neocash first, which requires real money, to play this game.

There are three packs of widgets available at the NC Mall, each with a different amount of widgets. Activate the pack you bought and now have in your inventory. Go to the game and choose a machine to play on. There are three different machines each having lots of pods so you have only to manoeuvre the claw and pick up a pod. Play to win an exclusive neocash item prizes, and if you make a lucky pick, you might just receive a neocash bonus item! You can also buy a large claw power to enhance the claw so that you are guaranteed to pick up two prizes instead of one. The two prizes may be from different tiers, which are mainly wood, bronze, silver and gold. You can also use a Tier Boost Power-Up to change your prize to an item from a higher tier. Regular prize pods come down the chute on the right side of the machine. If a golden prize pod comes down the left-hand chute, you'll receive a special bonus prize as well as a gold tier item. At the end of the game you receive your prize and start another game if you have more tokens.

Snargan - Double or nothing

Snargan is a green Skeith and the Meridell castle treasurer. In his free time he gambles using King Skarl money. He is also a devious Skeith and getting any money out of him is tricky in this game of chance.

This is probably the simplest game in all of Neopia, released in Y4 (2002) and situated in Meridell castle. It’s a game where you pay ten neopoints to flip a coin and if heads come up you double your neopoints. If the coin reveals a tail, Snargan takes all the neopoints you initially paid. If heads come up you will have a chance to play those doubled neopoints you just won so if you win again you double up the already doubled amount. The game continues like this until you collect the neopoints or lose. If you collect the neopoints at a certain point in the game you can start again with ten neopoints. If you carry on to a certain amount of neopoints won you will get the Skeith – Snargan avatar. You can also win a gold trophy if you manage to win enough neopoints to place you on top of the high score table.

King Skarl, Skeith Guards and/or Defenders - Neopian Battlefield Legends

We already talked about King Skarl so we are now focusing on the Skeith guards and/or defenders. These are loyal, gruff and incredibly large. If you choose your enemy to be Meridell you get Skeith guards and if you choose your enemy as Darigan you get Skeith defenders. All have incredibly high health and it’s no wonder nobody disagrees with them. They are also fully armoured and have special gauntlets.

Battlefield Legends also features the battle for Meridell and you can choose to either be Meridell or Darigan to stop your enemy from making it to the end of the field and win. This strategic game gives you the option to choose a map that you can play on, two of which have to be purchased from the NC Mall with real money. One of these two maps features King Skarl’s palace hall with King Skarl himself sitting on his throne.

You firstly choose a side and then move on to choose towers to set up on your map so that you can build up a path for the troops to walk through and at the end defeat them. There are five maps and each one is different to tackle with a certain number of waves. Some of the more difficult maps have also a boss which will be more difficult to defeat. Set up different towers and upgrade so as to defeat all of the oncoming troupes. The more towers you put up the more chance you have to defeat the troupes and the amount of gold left at the end of the game does not alter your final score so use your gold wisely. If you play on the harder difficulty maps your final score will be eligible to come on the high score table and may win you a gold trophy. This thrilling game has loads more to it so we suggest that you follow a thorough game guide.

Sir Pompadour - Petpet Plunge

Sir Pompadour is a very vain Red Skeith who travelled to Maraqua to seek treasure. When he discovered the treasure was sunken he enlisted the help of some Maraquan petpets because he didn't want to ruin his gorgeous head of hair wet.

In the game Petpet Plunge you help Sir Pompadour seek his treasure by guiding the petpets through the levels. To guide the petpet you click on it and pull in the direction you wish it to begin travelling in. The bigger your arrow is the stronger your shot will be. The quicker you finish the level the more points your will get. There are three different petpets that you get to use throughout the levels and another three that can get in your way. Levels 4, 8 and 12 have a whirlpool that takes you to a bonus level.

Palace Guard - Princess Lunara

The Skeith in this game is a blue Skeith. He doesn't seem to have a name but he is one of the palace guards and takes care of the "All About Neopia" questions in the game. He seems rather grumpy doesn't he? Perhaps he likes it when we get the answers wrong so he’s irritaded with all the good answers and wants us to make mistakes to do a bribe!

In this game you answer twelve Neopets related questions. Before each question you choose a category; All About Neopia, Neopian Culture or Notable Neopians. Every third question Princess Lunara's guards find a clue to help them find where the Princess went. If you get a question wrong you have to use some of your points to bribe the guard. Some questions are timed! Answer these before the timer runs out! The faster you complete the game the more bonus points you get at the end. Pick a category and stick with it. Memorization is the key to this game.

Skeith Thug - Stowaway Sting

The Skeith featured in this game is a big thug that your hero is trying to stay away from, while he collects all the treasure in each level. This big green guy moves at random but usually towards Scrap. He just loves catching Scrap!

In this game you control Scrap with your arrow keys. The goal is to change the colour of each crate within the time limit. Collect as much of the treasure as possible, money bags are worth twenty points and diamonds are worth fifty points! Don't bother with the round blue or green gems. Hearts restore your health and will replace diamonds when your health is too low. Avoid the Skeith and Kougra thugs and the crates full of sharp things whenever possible to avoid losing health. Running out of health or time is game over.

Green/Darigan Skeiths - Sorcerers' Skirmish

The Skeiths in this game are green and Darigan, Meridell's side has green Skeiths and Darigan's side has Darigan Skeiths. These Skeiths are mighty creatures with stone hats and large staffs. They are often forgotten in the game as they can't move very far so it's difficult to attack with them. They have outstanding defence though, the highest in the game!

This game is a strategy type game that is quite fun to play. It's actually much simpler to play than it appears. You play Meridell and must defeat Darigan. The goal of the game is to capture the opponents Eyrie first. Capture as many of the other players as possible first to gain points. It is important to note that your attack must be higher than your opponent's defence for your piece to win. Complete the game as quickly as possible. If you take less than thirty turns to defeat Darigan, you will win fifty points for each turn under thirty that you did not take. This bonus is extremely helpful when you are trying to get a high score. Always play on easy as you get the same number of points anyways.

Giant Hungry Skeith - Hungry Skeith

The Skeith in this game is a huge blue Skeith who seems to always be hungry. He gets to eat all the cakes and ice cream that is in the jelly processing plant. Don't let him eat the jellies though! They don't seem to agree with his stomach.

The goal of this game is to sort all the jellies into the correct vats. If you score high enough you might get a nifty Skeith themed avatar to celebrate Skeith day or any other day! Use your arrow keys to control the Buzz Foreman as he carries the red, blue and green jellies from the conveyor belt to their matching vats. Let the big blue Skeith eat all the cakes and ice creams that you don't want in the vats. If you put a jelly in the wrong vat or the Skeith eats a jelly you will lose a life.

King Skarl - Duelling Decks

King Skarl is in this game again! He's one popular Skeith! He is featured on one of the cards in the game. Since we all are quite familiar with this Skeith let's move on to an outline of the game play.

In this game you challenge a Mynci called Zenco to a game of cards. Can you beat him? You each get ten cards and the goal is to win all twenty. There are forty cards in total so you will only see half of them in any given game. If you deliberately lose cards and win them back repeatedly you can gain much more points than simply winning as quickly as you can. You have three categories to choose from with stats in Courage, Charisma and Intelligence. Choose wisely as your card must have a higher stats in the same category than Zenco's card. If both cards have the same stats they are left on the table until a winner takes all the cards on the table. The wild card is a very strong card that can beat almost any card on almost any category. Be careful though, there are a few cards with a category that can still beat it. Also note that the wild card replaces whatever card you choose to replace it with, so don't waste a good card when using it. You can choose any category you wish but points add up much slower on easy. It's recommended to play on hard for a high score.

That concludes our article for gaming Skeiths and Skeiths featured in games. There are quite some, probably more than most people think! We hope you enjoyed reading this article as much as we enjoyed writing it and good luck with the gaming!
