Meridell vs Darigan: Where are they now?

     We are 20 years following the war that engrossed all of Neopia, pitting friends, family, farmers, Darigan's hordes, and Skarl's knights against one another as they all took an allegiance. Heroes, Villains, Followers, Champions…whatever one called them, they had a life after the War for Meridell; but it begs the question: where are they now? Sean and I are here today to provide an in-depth exposé into the lives of the most notable and famous Champions and Followers of the war!

     Jeran

Who is he?

     Jeran was a simple boy living in Neopia Central with his sister, Lisha, until one day he stumbled into a magical portal that transported him back in time. He grew up to become a powerful and influential knight of Meridell playing a pivotal role in the war, leading Meridell forces against Darigan's hordes.

     What is he up to now?

     He lives a peaceful life, but with an ever-watchful eye on Meridell. In his modest, but fortified, NeoHome on the hills of Meridell, he sees the vista of Meridell farms, Skarl's castle, and the ominous floating Citadel on the horizon. He spends his leisure days leading a tabletop campaign in NeoQuest II with his friend Morris, playing for the fate of Neopia or whatever land they choose and whatever adventure they create, reliving the glory days of the past.

     
Lisha

Who is she?

     Lisha was a young, inquisitive, and wizard-loving Aisha when she was thrown into the depths of the Battle for Meridell. Her story began when she saw her missing brother, Jeran's, portrait in a museum. She followed his same path and entered the magical portal to the Kingdom of Meridell. She and Jeran eventually reunited, and she would put forth her efforts in helping Jeran and his forces defeat Lord Darigan.

     What is she up to now?

     After participating in the war, Lisha anxiously returned back to the present day with her brother Jeran. Spending her days defending honour and glory was not of interest to her. After spending a few days resting, she worked up her energy to return to what she loved most - researching spells and wizardry. She assists at Kayla's Potion Shop part-time, and she's taken a fond liking to learning under Kayla's expertise! She spends her days with her brother - and now neighbour - Jeran. She enjoys the peace of Meridell, and spends many days at home reading with her pet Whinny or roleplaying with Kayla and her friends.

     
Kayla

Who is she?

     Similar to her friends Jeran and Lisha, Kayla also travelled to the past through the assistance of a portal. She manages Kayla's Potion Shop in Meridell Castle. She was a major asset during the Battle for Meridell - she used her knowledge of potions and magic to aid in the fight against Lord Kass & his army. One of her biggest accomplishments was turning a group of Turtums into giants.

     What is she up to now?

     Kayla enjoys the serenity that Meridell provides. She continues to manage her potion shop - much to the delight of Lisha! She enjoys roleplaying with her friends, as well as experimenting with new potions and acting as a spectator for the Cheeseroller games. She likes to travel, but it can be hard for her to take time away from the store. When she does take a leave, she often travels back home to Neopia Central.

     
King Skarl

Who is he?

     Ah, the infamous King Skarl! King Skarl is well-known throughout Neopia as Meridell's gluttonous and grumpy king. Many Neopians travel to his castle to tell him jokes in hopes of receiving the ultimate prize - a laugh. Although he didn't start the war, he was responsible for keeping Darigan's special orb.

     What is he up to now?

     King Skarl continues to do what King Skarl does – sit grumpily while hoarding his wealth and food. He sees hundreds of Neopians hoping to elicit a positive reaction out of him; though most fail. Some few achieve greatness. The last one to win said something about a grammatically incorrect group of Peophins asking about a tin of olives…but you didn't hear it from us. Most of the group - Kayla, Lisha, Jeran - all continue to avoid King Skarl, not because they lack humour or anything.

     
The Three

Who are they?

     They are Revenge, Greed, and Ambition. These three malicious forms bewitched Lord Darigan with strange magic and beckoned him to use the orb. Under the influence of The Three's dark magic, Lord Darigan became a fierce and fiery demon creature. This eventually led to Darigan's downfall... Perhaps as all intended by The Three.

     What are they up to now?

     The Three are still up to their tricks and antics. In the darkest depths of each Neopian's mind, they lie plotting another battle or conflict to gain new power for themselves. Through whatever form they take in your mind, be on the lookout!

     
Lord Darigan

Who is he?

     Lord Darigan reigned as the leader of the Darigan Citadel. However, after the magical orb was stolen by Meridell, he would stop at nothing to retrieve it back to restore peace and riches back to his people. To get the orb back, he started the bitter war against Meridell that engulfed all of Neopia. Unfortunately, after recovering the orb, the dark magic of The Three corrupted the orb, turning Darigan into a Spectre bent on destroying all of Neopia. Both sides eventually rallied together to defeat Darigan and return him to his previous form.

     What is he up to now?

     After gaining back control of The Citadel from General Kass, he is at a seemingly uneasy truce with Meridell and King Skarl. He spends his days with General Galgarroth in his Chambers striving to rebuild The Citadel to its former greatness bringing wealth to his people once more. When not in his chambers, Lord Darigan spends his free time playing Cellblock with Master Vex.

     General Galgarroth

Who is he?

     One of the most-feared Darigan contenders, General Galgarroth was a fierce opponent during the fight between Meridell and Darigan Citadel. He served as Lord Darigan's right-hand man, and also assisted Lord Kass throughout the tension later on. Deep down, General Galgarroth only had his dependents in mind when he fought for the safety of Darigan Citadel.

     What is he up to now?

     General Galgarroth still channels his tough exterior to protect. Outside of spending time with Lord Darigan plotting a rebuild of The Citadel, he decided to take up a part-time job at Neopia Central's bank. He instils fear in every Neopian who travels through the bank - which is both a good and bad thing. There hasn't been a single robbery since he joined the team, but there's also been a noticeable decrease in members visiting the bank in person. It's a trade-off that General Galgarroth is aware of…and actually prefers. Less interaction with the public, the better!

     Hubrid Nox

Who is he?

     Hubrid Nox is one of Neopia's most notorious villains. He was massacred by Xandra in order to cover a malicious scheme. Now a ghost, Hubrid Nox is the arch nemesis of Dr. Sloth. During the war between Darigan Citadel and Meridell, Hubrid Nox participated by using his magic spells to strengthen Darigan Citadel's forces. Neopian historians suspect he wanted to increase the instability in the world in order to enhance his chances of ruling Neopia.

     What is he up to now?

     Hubrid Nox continues to wreak havoc across Neopia, startling Neopians far and wide. He enjoys playing games on Neopians, especially using his army of undead Neopets. The goal, of course, is to eventually take over the world. He continues to live in his own world away from other Neopians. He needs his space in order to concoct his next plan of action for world domination.

     And there you have it, good people of Neopia…The Who's Who of Meridell and Darigan Citadel!
