SCORCHIO DAY SPECIAL

A Scorchio to Love By Sunlightheaven

The wind blows with a force
Not seen in many fortnights
I sense the oncoming of winter
And the soft, fertile ground
Becoming imbedded with hard crystals.

I will be all alone
Huddled in my home
Planted in the midst of Neopia Central.

I will entertain myself
As I have for countless years past
And for Christmas
Only myself will be there to celebrate.

Oh! How I wish I had someone
To share my home with
And on cold winter nights
To lie across the hearth with.

Suddenly a soft flying bundle
Like a harbinger of love
Lands in my lap
Softly moaning,
Like an injured child.

I look down and there
A pair of adorable, trusting emerald green eyes
Stare up into mine
Conveying a message of hope
And love.
It's pale blue fur
Formerly soft as a dove's
Is clumped with grass
And twigs
Telling of its hard journey.

The Scorchio shivered
And I wrapped my shawl about its shoulders
Though its tiny wings
Still peeked out.

And it hugged me
With its two stubby arms
And suddenly an unknown feeling of warmth
Washed through me.

This poor baby Scorchio had been abandoned
And came flying haphazardly to me.
Whether it was luck
Or fate
Or just plain coincidence,
I knew I'd love my Scorchio
Like I'd love my own child.

Everyone needs someone to love
And I've finally found
A Scorchio to love.

Scorch'n Scorchio By Littlelise

A streak of lightning whizzes past,
Just a flash of blue gone by,
Wings tucked in, diving fast,
Who's this creature that can fly?

The flash is back, but wings extended,
Soaring gracefully then to bank and wheel.
Catching air, without a care,
It gently lands. This is surreal!

A Scorchio faces me, amber eyes bright.
He smiles and swings his cumbersome tail.
Smoking thickly at the nostrils,
Fire jetting out from jaws that won't fail.

His pearly teeth shine in a grin
And a forked tongue slithers out.
I give a timid laugh of awe,
I've seen what the Scorchio is all about!

Then his claws dig into the earth,
And he pushes himself from off the floor.
His smile is so wide I can see it from here,
As he lets out a cry and begins to soar.

Through the haze of memory, I still see him.
So powerful, kind, and handsome too.
The Scorchio surpasses even the best,
As a loyal and wonderful friend for you!

Ballad of the Scorchio By Berrigold

Ah, what a wonderful sight
The mighty Scorchio makes
Flying high, through the sky
With pleasure they partake.

Their wings are flapping leisurely,
Not missing a single beat
They fly through almost anything,
Through icy winds and heat.

You can see it in their eyes,
The ecstasy at being free
A Scorchio gliding in the clouds
In the most wonderful thing to see

The sun slants off their scales,
A myriad of colors
No one Scorchio
Is quite like the other.

Their tails sway gently,
Playing with the breeze
Their claws are sheathed and relaxed,
Currently at ease.

But when the Scorchio feels the need,
They're ready for a fight
The Scorchio is unmatched
When dealing with might.

When they're in a battle,
They fight very fiercely
They abide the rules in full,
Though they show no mercy.

Though, when they aren't fighting
The Scorchio is a cordial pet.
They'd rather tell jokes than fight,
It's the kind of pet you should get!

Scorchio Day By Tricuspa

Flame and fire the dry desert plain!
Their eyes look toward you,
And their mouth bursts of flame.
Heat and warmth can be felt from all around.
Their voice exploding like the loudest of sounds

Great winged creature of renown.
Flying above all the volcanoes below.
From Tyrannia perhaps the Scorchio came.
And with them they brought
The greatest of flame.

Volcanoes light with their great blaze.
As the Scorchio itself resists any heat.
Creature of earth, wind and fire.
For this is the one pet I truly admire.

This classic Neopet has been around the block.
Friendly and outgoing are the lot,
So happy and sociable... what else to say?
I think this should be a great Scorchio Day!

The Arrival of the Scorchios
By Wrestlinglegendrebel

Many years ago on this very day,
There came an unexpected outburst.
For a new creature had been born,
And many believed it to be cursed.

The creature was said to breathe fire,
And have horrible large scaly claws,
You weren't safe from it even at home,
As it would burn off all the doors.

The Neopians named the thing a Scorchio,
Simply meaning fire-breather, of course.
Some brave Neopians went out to fight one,
Not knowing what trouble they'd endorse.

Finally the explorers found a live Scorchio,
But it easily trapped them in a corner.
Just as the Neopians braced themselves to die,
It said, "Come and relax in my sauna!"

The Neopians went along with the Scorchio,
And found it was friendly and really no danger,
They took it back with them to their town,
Where it soon became to the people no stranger.

Scorchios became popular with Neopians,
And are now good pets to choose and own.
But in the past the name of Scorchio,
Would have received a big, loud groan.

As you can see, the name Scorchio was kept,
For the fire breather that the pet is.
But nobody feared it as they knew it was good,
"All Scorchios are good, right Liz?"

So there is the story of the first Scorchios,
And their arrival to Neopia, Hip Hip Hooray!
So tell this story to all your Scorchios,
On the day they came, Scorchio Day.
