Got Kau-Kau Farm Milk? (The Incomplete Guide to Neopian Living)

by Nemo503

Having trouble finding affordable things to keep your NeoPet happy? In the world of Neopia, there are a lot of things that you probably can't afford. On the other hand, though, Neopia is a wonderful place for opportunity. So while you're looking for that job at the employment agency or waiting for an auction to close, what do you do with your pet?

Food: Probably the most underestimated and over-demanded category in Neopia. Of course everyone knows about the expensive foods and delicacies out there, but do you know about the 9:30 AM: (getting your pets ready for that first day of school can start with a hearty and healthy breakfast) Why not start out with a Honey and Wheat Baguette and a nice glass of Chocolate Milk? Wheat Flakes are 1 NP in all the shops right now! Omelettes are a great way to fill up your NeoPet, too. Not only do they feed your pet three times, they are totally free! Yes, absolutely free, no strings attached. Not bad. Total budget? 36 NP.

12:30 PM: So you need to decide what to pack your little Acara or Eyrie for lunch. Red apples are a good way to have a healthy and great tasting snack. If it's hot out, maybe a Snow Submarine sandwich or a Rainborific Slush would cool your pet down. Also, a bottle of water packed for gym might be a nice surprise. You might want to pack a jelly treat or a sweet for afterwards. Total budget? 75 NP.

6:30 PM: Dinnertime! This is generally a time where you can go all-out once in a while. But first, the more affordable things. Two fantastic foods that are dirt cheap in Neopia right now are Musho! Mushy Peas, and a Tin of Olives. Maybe you would want to serve peas as a side dish, or use the olives in a burrito. Both are 1 NP each, free if you lose the Tombola game (ti's not hard.) Serve some Kau-Kau Farm Milk for that growing pet of yours. Also surprisingly cheap are all the desert foods. Maybe you could splurge a little even, and buy a chocolate cake for afterwards. Total budget? 142 NP.

If you can't afford these, go to the kindhearted Soup Kitchen Faerie in the Marketplace. If you're poor enough, then she'll feed your pets TOTALLY FREE OF CHARGE. Isn't that nice of her?

Entertainment: This is probably the easiest and best category of the three. You can make your pets happy by playing games or getting an inexpensive plushie, even the cheapest are still very high quality.

Plushies: Buy an Usul Plushie, Tuskaninny Plushie, or an Orange Fuzzle (still have that one from you're newbie pack? Scratch that off the list, then.) If you have more than one pet, don't worry because they don't mind sharing their toys at all.

Games: How can you go wrong? If you want to play games, then you are in great luck. You can play most for free and get NP back, as much as 1500 NP a day! Games like Kiko match, averaging from 300 to 500 NP per play, that's a lot of NP! Kacheek Seek is a great game for on the run, you get on average 15 or 16 Neopoints, enough to buy 15 or 16 boxed of Wheat Flakes or Tins of Olives! Talk about buying in Bulk, you're stocked for the month after 2 minutes!

Friends: Sometimes, a pet will want a pet of their own to look after. Don't worry, not all PetPets are shockingly expensive. *sees price of Flosset and faints* You can even get them for as cheap as 50 NP, if you win them from the Wheel of Mediocrity in Tyrannia! (Gee, isn't Tyrannia a great place for Newbies??) If not, then save up a few hundred NP from Kiko match in your bank account every day (Never never NEVER live in Neopia without a bank account--you can get free NP in the form of interest) and buy that three or four thousand NP PetPet when you finally save up enough. Like plushies, even the cheaper PetPets are fine-Nobody's pet is going to cry because they got a 500 NP Stego instead of a 50,000 NP Huggy Bear.

Healing: So your pet has the Itchy Scratchies and you don't know what to do. Can't afford a 20,000 NP tin of Onion Balm? Aren't wealthy enough to buy the medicine for the newest epidemic? There is a way...The Water Faerie in Faerieland Is kind enough to offer to heal your pets....TOTALLY FREE. She may even give you extra hit points or feed your pets! Be patient though, it make take more than one try for her to get her magic right. Come back in 45 minutes and she'll have her magic restored.

Good luck living in Neopia while you search for that job and until you get those Wellington Boots and a Flosset for your pet, you've got a lot of saving and hard work to do!
