“What?” asked Jelilah. FirePaw told her the Cybunny Paw was gone, but to where?
It’s not like it had legs and could walk away. It was a foot!
“It’s gone! Oh no!” exclaimed FirePaw fretfully. PadFoot had given it to him,
and now he had gone and lost it!
“Well,” said Jelilah. “Let’s search the room, maybe it rolled off the dresser
under the beds or something.” That was all FirePaw needed to get his hopes up.
They searched the room five times over but still found nothing. FirePaw was
extremely disappointed.
“Let’s look for it in the rest of the house,” suggested Jelilah. “But remember,
don’t get your hopes up again.”
“Okay,” agreed FirePaw.
First they went through the living room, then the kitchen, and then the large
playroom. Nothing in any of those rooms. FirePaw looked very upset. “Don’t worry
FirePaw, we still have the basement and the whole upstairs for it to be in,”
reassured Jelilah.
FirePaw nodded. “Okay.”
Jelilah smiled and encouraging smile and led the way to the basement. It had
a laundry room, and a study for AngelFire.
First they looked in the laundry room, they actually searched it pretty thoroughly,
considering it was a laundry room. There was nothing in there so they moved
on to the study. They didn’t expect AngelFire to have taken it so they searched
the study pretty loosely.
Downcast they walked up the stairs. “Don’t worry! We still have all of upstairs!”
said Jelilah as cheerfully as she could, but even she knew that her reassurances
were starting to sound lame. FirePaw could tell that she was disappointed just
like him.
“Yeah,” agreed FirePaw, also trying to sound cheerful.
They walked upstairs and under Jelilah’s suggestion they searched their room
yet again, not really expecting to find the Cybunny Paw. Then they searched
the guest room, which Jelilah had no idea why there was one, and there was nothing
in there.
FirePaw and Jelilah then searched the bathroom, nothing there. But FirePaw
had a terrible thought. “What if it was flushed down the toilet?” he asked Jelilah
frantically.
“Don’t worry FirePaw, it wasn’t,” said Jelilah, hoping it didn’t happen.
They finished with the bathroom and then stood straight outside AngelFire’s
room. “This is the last room in the house,” said Jelilah.
“Well let’s check it anyway, just in case,” said FirePaw. He tip toed in so
he could check it as quietly as possible. He went over to her kau print dresser
and his eyes widened when he saw something on top of it. It was his dark red
Lucky Cybunny Paw!
“Jelilah,” he hissed, picking it up. He dangled it in the air and tip toed
out of the room with Jelilah waiting for him. He shut the door quietly and then
both of them walked back to their room.
They talked about what to do. By then it was 2:46 AM, Neopian Standard Time.
They had searched all night.
“AngelFire took it?” asked FirePaw nervously.
“I don’t know but what I do know is that we found it and I want to go to sleep,”
said Jelilah. She snuggled into her bed and quickly fell asleep.
FirePaw slowly put the Cybunny Paw under his pillow and laid down, pulling
the covers over himself.
Jelilah might have fell asleep quickly, but FirePaw, however, did not. He laid
awake wondering why the Cybunny Paw had turned up in AngelFire’s room. And finally,
at dawn, he fell asleep.
***
“Morning,” FirePaw mumbled to Jelilah and AngelFire. He hadn’t slept well.
He had awoken again at nine o’ clock and went back to sleep because he was so
exhausted. Now he was still tired.
“More like afternoon, it’s 3:30 PM,” said AngelFire. “Are you ill?” She peered
anxiously at FirePaw’s face.
“Hmm?” asked FirePaw. “Oh no I’m not sick, I’m just tired, that’s all. I didn’t
sleep well last night.”
“Oh, ok, well I hope this doesn’t happen again,” said AngelFire. She still
looked a little worried.
FirePaw nibbled at his streaky bacon and drank only half of his orange juice.
AngelFire knew something was wrong with him.
“Is there something wrong FirePaw, you don’t look too well,” said AngelFire
concernedly.
“No,” FirePaw said, catching Jelilah’s eye, “I’m okay. Don’t worry about me.”
He ate the rest of his bacon just to convince AngelFire that her wasn’t sick
or anything.
“Okay,” said AngelFire, not entirely convinced. She looked at his meter and
said, “You’re still hungry, drink up your orange juice, it’s good for you.”
FirePaw shook his head.
“I’m not hungry anymore, honest,” he said.
“Look!” said AngelFire, pointing to the meter. “It says not hungry in red,
you’re supposed to go one step above that to really not be hungry.” She waited
until he sat down and drank his orange juice until she was satisfied.
“Okay,” said FirePaw. “Happy?”
“Yes,” said AngelFire. “Where are you two going today?”
“To PadFoot’s house again. He’s really nice and we both like him so we decided
to go see him again,” said Jelilah. “Okay?”
“Okay,” said AngelFire.
FirePaw and Jelilah went upstairs to get the Neopoints and the Cybunny Paw.
As soon as FirePaw saw the Cybunny Paw he tensed up. Did AngelFire really steal
it? But why would she? Did she? Did she really?
“FirePaw,” said Jelilah in a soft voice. “Don’t worry, we have it so she can’t
take it anymore. And maybe she saw it on the floor and picked it up for us but
forgot, you know something like that. Give her the benefit of the doubt.”
“I’ll try,” he promised.
As soon as all the Neopoints and the Cybunny Paw was accounted for they left.
“Bye!” called FirePaw and Jelilah.
