"Gilbert, breakfast's ready!" Sue called Gilbert as she fried some Green Pepper
Omelette.
Gilbert ran down the stairs in a hurry. "Oh no, not again!" Gilbert made a
face as he looked at his breakfast; it was the fifth omelette this week.
"Now Gilbert, you know you need to eat healthy foods to get strong, and omelettes
are one of the best there are," Sue reminded him.
Gilbert mumbled something, and sat unhappily to eat his breakfast. After he
finished it (leaving some crumbs), he packed his backpack and hurried out the
door.
"Wait! You forgot your umbrella," Sue ran after him and handed the umbrella.
It was a good thing that she did, because it was raining a lot outside.
"Yeah, mum, thanks," he told her.
But just as he was about to leave, Sue warned him. "Just don't open the umbrella
inside; it's bad luck, you know..."
"I don't believe in bad luck," he answered, and opened the umbrella while still
inside. He then walked out the door and to the bus stop.

"10 NP, please," the bus driven said as Gilbert got inside the bus.
"Just a moment," he took off his backpack and opened one of the pockets. He
moved his paw all around the pocket, but could not find anything. Now where
could that 10 NP be, he pondered. I never forget to pack the 10 NP... He looked
and looked but he couldn't find the money, so he had to walk all the way to
school.
When he finally got to the school grounds, he could hear the bell ringing in
the distance. Oh no! I'm late! I have NEVER been late before!
He ran and ran as fast as he could, and quietly slipped into his math class.
But I guess he wasn't quiet enough, because the teacher noticed him the minute
he sat in his seat.
"Mr. Gilbert, I am truly shocked at this!" his math teacher, Mr. McKousky,
cried. "This is the first time you are actually late to this class! Have you
got a note explaining why you were late?"
"Umm, no sir, I don't."
"Well then, it's an unexcused tardy! Seat yourself down," he pointed to Gilbert's
desk.
Gilbert sat quietly throughout the rest of the class.

It was now his fourth-period class; science. Gilbert watched his science teacher
as she talked about something called "matter".
"Matter is anything that has weight and takes up space. There are three different
states of matter - solid, liquid, and gas. Solids have..." Gilbert wasn't very
interested at all. But he kept staring at the teacher, pretending to be listening.
The teacher must have talked for about an hour.
"--and now I will pass each one of you a paper about matter, just to see what
you have learned so far. Nothing complex, just a few questions, shouldn't take
you long to finish," the teacher said. "It WILL be graded, though," she added.
At those words, Gilbert jumped in his seat wildly. Paper?! About matter?! To
be graded?! he was hysterical. He didn't listen to a single word the teacher
said. Not until she started talking about the quiz, at least...
There were only a few questions, so the teacher had time to grade the papers.
She told each student their grade; Gilbert got an F.

It was at his P.E. class that the most unluckiest thing happened.
P.E. was Gilbert's favorite class. He loved to run and play. As always, Gilbert
chose to play Gormball; it was his favorite game. And besides, he was good at
it, too.
The players threw the ball to one another. The first apponent threw the ball,
second, third... Finally it was Gilbert's turn. He held the ball tightly in
his paws. After waiting one second, he got ready to throw it. But just as he
did that, the ball suddenly exploded, surprising Gilbert, and causing him fall.
And since it was raining in the morning, instead of falling on the grass, Gilbert
fell into the mudd. Everyone started laughing - Gilbert was so embarrassed.
Because he was covered in mud, he was allowed to be dismissed early. As he
was walking home, he decided to visit Coltzan's Shrine. When he walked towards
the shrine, he saw the good king's ghost.
The ghost moaned, and said to Gilbert, "I will do what I can to help you."
And before Gilbert there was 2,000 NP!!
