The Noodles and the Real World

by yaboofernoodle

"You gotta be strong. Strong of body, spirit… and mind… to find a way home."

That's the one quote that I never forgot. It's the one KoochieNoobus made after one particular adventure of ours that took The Noodles to new heights. Heights they had never dreamt of… the existence of worlds other than theirs.

It was one very late night in Neopia, and I was tucking in all my pets. We had to get lots of sleep for our next big concert. So, as they all fell asleep, I walked out into Neopia Avenue and pressed in the button in my TransWorlder. This was the item I used to go from the Real World into the Neopian World. I stepped into the portal that appeared in front of me. I made one huge mistake… in the process of going back home, I dropped my TransWorlder. Before I could reach for it, I was sucked backwards and the portal dissipated. Landing in my chair, I shut down the computer for the night. Heading upstairs, I lumbered into bed. I found that I just couldn't fall asleep from all the worry. Would I ever find my TransWorlder? Would I ever go back into Neopia? What if someone, or something, found it before I did?

The next morning, I ate my breakfast and started up my computer. The NeoPets browser wouldn't open, just as I suspected. Flopping back onto the sofa, I groaned and fell into another deep slumber. There was one thing still going on in Neopia, with my pets, while I dozed.

"Ouch! There's something in my sandbox!" Firey_Sac cried out. He reached through the mound of sand and pulled out a strange gadget.

"Hey KN! Mum's not here, so you're going to help me!" KoochieNoobus whined and stumbled on over to the sandbox.

"Now, what in Maraqua do you need my help for?"

Firey_Sac held the machine out to her. Grasping it from his paws, the Shoyru carefully inspected it.

"Huh?! This is mum's TransWorlder! If it's here, then she can't come back!"

Bhuhbuh looked up from his picnic lunch he assembled.

"Mum's not coming back? What are we going to do? She's never going to be able to take care of us anymore!"

Number Nimmo dropped his Golden Juppie and looked bravely at the sky.

"We'll find her. KN… prepare that TransWorlder. We're leaving Neopia."

Bhuhbuh just about collapsed in surprise.

"What did you say?! NeoPets could never survive that trip! As your older brother, it's my job to look after you when mum can't, and I'm not letting you go!"

Number Nimmo glanced at him.

"And as my older brother, you also think it is your job to put snakes in my bed?"

Bhuhbuh fell into a stunned silence.

About half an hour later, I rolled over on my side and faced the computer. It seemed to be glowing… so I sat upright and stared at it. It glowed brighter, and brighter, and brighter, until all the house lights flickered and I thought I was reliving a scene from Poltergeist or some other scary movie. There was a brilliant flash of lightning and four blurry shapes popped out of my computer. "I really need to lay off the Sugar-O cereals," I murmured to myself. I fainted and fell back onto the sofa once more.

"So now what? She's not budging." Bhuhbuh moaned.

"How are we going to get her back?" KoochieNoobus sauntered over to the couch and slapped my face.

"She just passed out. She'll be better in a while. As for now, I have to figure out how to fix this TransWorlder! I'll go to the basement and try and repair it. You guys just hang around for a bit longer."

With that said, she headed down to the basement and the other three pets split up.

Bhuhbuh walked upstairs into my bedroom. "Wow! There are so many strange things here… and are those NeoPetS?! They can't be! I've never seen any of these species before! They all look like they've been turned into lifeless beings!" Bhuhbuh panicked, for he had wandered into my stuffed animals. A small purple frog toy fell onto his head. Reaching up and yanking it off, he dropped it in shock. "67_8401528? No! It can't be! Please, speak to me!" The purple frog toy remained motionless. "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" Bhuhbuh dropped to the floor in a fit of tears.

Meanwhile, the real 67_8401528 was in the backyard. He trudged through the snow until he came to the garage. Strolling inside, he was amazed at all the weird things there. "What is this? And what's this little button for? I wonder…" He pushed the button and the machine began to rumble. A few seconds later, he burst out of the garage door screaming and raced down the street. A peculiar rumbling followed him, and grew louder. He started to run faster as his pursuer was gaining on him. Slowing down, he realised trouble was right behind him, as he was getting sprayed with snow. Very unfortunately, the poor Nimmo had activated my family's snowblower.

My mum, oblivious to all that was going on, has just made her way outside and avoided the sight of my NeoPets. She gathered up her grocery list and got into the minivan. Turning the ignition, she didn't check to see if there was anything on the roof of the car. My mother backed out of the driveway and drove off to the store, never noticing that Firey_Sac was balancing himself on top of the vehicle. "Whoah! What is this thing doing? It's kinda like surfing." He stood up and hummed surfer music. "Dum dum dah doo doo dee dah doo, dum doo da dee dah doo da doo…"

Suddenly, *WHACK*. The Wocky was lying in the middle of the road. He looked up to see what had happened, and discovered that he hit an overhead road sign.

When everyone had made their way back to my real house, KoochieNoobus emerged from the basement. "I am happy to announce that our owner has made a full recovery and I have successfully fixed the TransWorlder!"

There were loud cheers as I stepped out from behind the wall with the TransWolder in my hand. Leading everyone back into the living room, we stood in front of the computer. I hit the button, and there was another great flash of light. We were all standing in Neopia, right back where we should be.
