Is My English Teacher Addicted?

by merlin775

Is my English teacher addicted? A question I have pondered myself on a few occasions. While the answer in my case is almost undoubtedly no, it started me to thinking; How do I know when I meet another NeoPet addict? The answer is, I don't. I probably know a lot of people but we're all sort of closet-Neopians and we don't know it. Imagine, the girl who sits behind you in French could be me! You'd never know. So, that's the purpose of this article. A way for Neopians to recognise each other when they meet and form lasting friendships.

The Prospect
On NeoPets age, gender, race and financial status all take a back seat. They don't really seem to matter. Seated behind our user name mask we are completely anonymous. Take a minute to think, could you recognise your NeoPets' friends in real life? I met a lot of really cool people in this guild called Cool_Peoples_Palace2. When that guild was sold we moved on to the Royal Neopian Palace. Like I said, I met a lot of really cool people. This is where I first became acquainted with the kind of mix-ups Internet friendships incur.

For a long time I thought one of my closest friends was my age and he turned out to be 16. Once I even thought that a 37-year-old woman was a boy my age! I made similar blunders for a long time before I got it straight. I still don't know their names, or hair colour, or eye colour, or nationality. If I met the on the street I would never know them.

The Solution
No, I am not suggesting you go and question all your friends a lot! NeoPets is a safe site because it's anonymous. So what do we do? I am suggesting that we have a special 'Red Shirt Day' that you schedule in your guild, suggest to the NeoPets' Team. It would be a great opportunity for us to see one another.

So what's the plan? The idea is that on those days we all wear a red shirt. A few of you might even be bold enough to ask some 'red shirted' people if they are Neopians. Granted, red is a common colour, but this ought to at least narrow your search field.

Happy Neo Hunting!
