The sun shone lazily over the cosy wooden NeoHome on Neopia Avenue. Saph, Cherp,
Kortyna and Blumchy lay on the prickly green grass staring at the clouds. The
sky was a peaceful Puppyblew blue and fluffy white clouds dotted the sky.
"So what do you guys want to do today?" questioned Saph, as she rolled over.
"I dunno, what do you want to do?" mumbled Kortyna, who was examining a blade
of grass.
"I'm tired. I stayed up late last night reading 'The Legend of Count von Roo'"
Blumchy said slowly yawning.
"THAT BOOK AGAIN?!" The rest of the pets exclaimed, sitting up looking at Blumchy.
Blumchy blushed. He was a Halloween Blumaroo and Count von Roo was his hero.
He got the book for Christmas and he read it over and over, until he could almost
recite it with memory. SaphireSweetheart the Cybunny, CherpeyCute the Pteri,
Kortyna the Korbat and Blumchy the Blumaroo were best friends, as well as family.
They fit together perfectly. They did everything together, and always managed
to make an adventure out of any situation. But today, the quartet was feeling
particularly lazy and was not up for any adventuring.
"Well, I'm not just gonna sit around and do nothing all day," Cherp said firmly.
"No way. This is too good of a day to waste. We haven't had a day like this
in a while. We should take advantage of it. You know... since... it's... so...
ni... ce...." Cherp began to close his eyes, the rest of the NeoPets beginning
to fall asleep as well. So the four friends doze off in the bright sun.
But, inside their NeoHome, four little PetPets had different plans for the
day. Unlike their lazy owners, Freddy the Carma, Klein the Buzzer, Fellow the
Harris and Mr. Pringles the Spoppy were ready for an adventure of their own.
"Look at them outside, just sleeping like that, wasting the day away. They're
crazy!" said Klein, who propped himself up on a high stool looking out the window.
"Indeed, it is strange to see such an enthusiastic bunch like them just sitting
still for once," Fellow spoke softly.
"Well, I don't know about you fellas, but I'm ready for some fun! C'mon, let's
have an adventure of our own!" Freddy said.
"But, we're just PetPets... I've never been anywhere without Blumchy," said
Mr. Pringles nervously. "Why don't we just try waking them up? I'm sure they'll
be more than happy to take us on an adventure with them."
The four PetPets gazed out the window at the sleeping NeoPets. Saph was curled
into a little ball, Blumchy sprawled out crazily, Kortyna snuggling up against
Blumchy, and Cherp, snoring loudly with a small trace of drool trickling from
his beak. These pets were resting peacefully; they wouldn't even notice if their
PetPets were gone.
So the PetPet gang embarked out on their adventure. They walked down Neopia
Avenue, passing all the familiar places.
"Look, there's the food shop!" Mr. Pringles pointed out.
Tons of pets and their owners stood hand in hand, waiting for the shopkeeper
to announce that she shop has restocked.
"There's the Neopian Book Store," said Fellow. "Hmm, I wonder if they have
a copy of 'Cybunny Down'... Saph has been dying to read that book! Maybe I should
go in and check for her..."
"NO WAY, FELLOW! Keep on walking," the others agreed.
So they continued their walk. "Check out the Rainbow Pool! Cool!" shouted
Freddy.
Hundreds of pets of all species in a long line anxiously awaited their new
look.
"...And there's the PetPet Puddle," Klein sighed. "Hmph. I wish they made a
Blue Paint brush available for Buzzers like me."
Finally, Mr. Pringles, Klein, Freddy and Fellow stopped in front of the Shop
Wizard's tent.
"All right, here's the plan. Let's split up and have some fun. We'll meet back
here in a few hours? Deal?" said Freddy, grinning.
"DEAL!" They all shouted.
And so they went.
