Meanwhile, Freddy the Carma had his own plans on his mind. "Cool natives...
sandy beaches... interesting places... Mystery
Island here I come!!" he said. "It's just me... out adventuring... how
cool is that?! Now... which way do I go?" Freddy stood, confused. The island
was so big, and he was so small.
"Umm... excuse me? Excuse me? Do you know the way to the Island Market? Anyone?"
Freddy asked spinning around. No one even bothered to look at Freddy. He was
just a Carma; he was no one important. Freddy sighed and sat under a shady tree.
This wouldn't be as easy as he thought it would be. Just then, a shadow emerged
from behind the tree.
"AAAAAHHHHH!!" screamed Freddy. Then he heard giggling, the shadow belonged
to a young girl with olive skin and huge brown eyes. Her soft curly hair fell
just below her shoulders, and she had a big smile on her face. "This way," she
whispered. So Freddy followed. The young girl led Freddy through the thick tress.
The sun was so low in the sky, and Freddy was tired but he kept going. Who was
this girl and why was he following her? Finally, she led him to a small grass
hut. The girl turned around.
"I'm sorry if I scared you. My name is Aadylah. I've lived on the Mystery
Island for many, many years. In fact, I am the great-niece of the trading faerie.
You are a tourist here. Yes? Would you like some help?" Aadylah said smoothly.
"Yes... please. I'm Freddy. Thanks so much for your help," Freddy responded.
"Come, you look thirsty. Let me give you a drink," Aadylah said while walking
into her straw house.
There were only three rooms in the NeoHome. Every room was decorated with
coconut and bamboo furniture. There were shelves and shelves of an endless amount
of Tombola junk. Tropical music was played softly in the background. It wasn't
the nicest looking NeoHome, but it was very cozy and welcoming.
"Here, take this," Aadylah handed Freddy a tropical fruit smoothie. "So tell
me Freddy, what brings you to Mystery Island?"
Freddy took a big sip and gulped. "Oh, the other PetPets and I left the NeoPets
at home and did some adventuring for ourselves."
"Wow. Sounds like fun!" cheered Aadylah. Just then, someone knocked on the
door. "Hold on, let me get that."
Aadylah got up to see who was at the door. Freddy began to wonder what his
friends were doing. What kind of fun were they having without him? He missed
the other PetPets and he missed the NeoPets too. Cherp would of loved to come
here with him. Freddy looked up at the door where Aadylah was standing.
"Yes, I understand. Yes. All right. Goodbye," Aadylah said solemnly. She walked
back to where Freddy was sitting.
"What's the matter Aadylah?" asked Freddy.
Aadylah let out a long sigh. "Apparently, the Mystery Island is planning to
expand the Island Market some more... and they are planning to use the land
I am living on! Unless I give them 100,000 NP to move somewhere else... I'll
have to leave my home!"
"Oh no... that's terrible! I'm... I'm so sorry. Is there anything I can do?"
"Do not worry about me, Freddy. I will be fine."
Freddy said his goodbyes to Aadylah. He had to figure out how to help her.
Then, all of a sudden, his thoughts were interrupted by a loud shout.
"Come play Tombola! Great prizes to be won, just put your hand (or paw) in,
pick up a Tombola ticket, and see what prize you win. Anything ending with a
0, 2 or 5 is a winner!"
Freddy's face lit up, and he walked over to the Tombola
Could it be that easy? Could the Tombola be the answer to Aadylah's problems?
It was worth a try. He approached the Tombola hut and put his small Carma hand
in.
"We have a winner!" the Tombola man boomed. "Here is your prize. Enjoy your
stay at the Mystery Island, mon." The Tombola man handed Freddy a Purple Paint
Brush.
"This is perfect... just perfect... thank you so much!!" Freddy ran off cheerfully
to the Trading Post.
On the way to the Trading Post, he heard a snicker. He turned around... it
was the Pant Devil!
"Hehehehehehehe... give me that Paint Brush!" the Pant Devil shrieked.
"Noooo!!! You can't!!!! Please... please don't!!!!!!!" cried Freddy.
But it was too late. The paint brush was gone. Freddy suddenly realised how
lonely he was.
"Frrrrrreeeeeddddyyyy!!!" someone called.
"Wow, I really must be lonely. I thought I heard Mr. Pringles call my name.
"Hey Freddy!!!!!! FREDDY!!!!!!!"
"I'm hearing things again. This time it sounds like Saph."
"FREDDY, TURN AROUND YOU SILLY CARMA!!!!"
Freddy turned around, it was Cherp! Behind him were Saph, Blumchy and Kortyna
as well. And standing with them were Mr. Pringles, Klein and Fellow! They ran
up and hugged him.
"Cherp, Saph, Kortyna, Blumchy... I missed you guys!!! And hey you PetPets...
how were your adventures?" Freddy beamed.
"There's no time for talk, Freddy. We gotta save Aadylah!" Fellow responded.
***
Everything really came together in the end. Mr. Pringles called up Oogaroo
for some help, Klein asked Kim, Elle and her new Deaver for some help as well.
Fellow asked Camilla and the rest of the NeoPets wanted to help too. They made
the 100,000 NP and gave it to Aadylah.
"I really don't know what to say... I'm just so very grateful! Thank you, so
so much!" Aadylah cheered.
"Ugg Arg Ugh HOORAY!" Oogaroo said, raising his cup.
"Muuuummmmmmyyyyy!!!! I want to live on the Mystery Island too!!!!!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeeease?"
Elled whined.
"I'm so happy we all came together to help someone in need! When I get back
to the bookstore, I will lower all the prices by half for today!" Camilla said
happily.
Then the NeoPets turned to the PetPets.
"So, you went out adventuring without us, huh?" asked Kortyna, smiling.
"All right... spill it guys! I want to hear all the details!" Cherp said.
Mr. Pringles sat up. "Adventuring was fun... but I think next time we want
to go adventuring... we'll tell you first!" Everyone laughed.
"So... what do you guys want to do now?" asked Saph.
"It still is a nice day... it IS too perfect to waste!" Blumchy beamed.
"Ya! Come on, guys! Let's go somewhere! How about the Lost Desert?" Kortyna
said excitedly. The NeoPets all cheered in agreement.
"Wait a second, something is not right here..." questioned Cherp.
"ZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZz........"
The NeoPets looked down. The PetPets were fast asleep!
"Maybe we'll do some adventuring tomorrow," said Cherp.
The NeoPets smiled and carried the PetPets in their arms as they walked slowly
to their NeoHome The sun was now set and the moon hung peacefully over the night
sky. When they reached their NeoHome, Saph, Cherp, Kortyna and Blumchy lay on
the prickly green grass, counting the stars. The sky was a beautiful midnight
black. The PetPets were cradled in the NeoPets' arms, and a smile on each of
their faces.
