Gosh Darn It... I Think That THING Ate My Arm! by epk | |
I have done it again, I've attempted to find the perfect
article and wound up tackling a visit with the Beast from the Lair
of the Beast. (If you don't know where it is, you find it somewhere
in the Tyrannian Plateau.) For the safety of my Neopets, I left them out of
this expedition. You may also want to know I'm writing with my right arm, and
I'm left handed, because something went wrong. Oh yah, I'm in the Neopian Hospital.
Why? You'll find out.
My adventure actually started in the Haunted Woods during June 3rd, Year 4,
11:00 PM NST. Yah, being there near midnight, stupid me, but once a year on
a June's Half-Price Day it was rumoured that the Brain Tree will randomly mumble
his knowledge in his sleep. I set out with a video camera to see if I could
embarrass him with his sleep talk.
Sure enough, the Brain Tree was talking. "Neopets co-creator has cats... Dr.
Sloth has red eyes... Lenny Conundrum is rarely released on time... The Beast
of Tyrannia lives in a tunnel..." I turned off the video camera and packed it
up and rushed to Tyrannia: A tunnel in this prehistoric land could mean big
news! Would it lead to a new world? A stash of magical items? My lost sock?
Who knows what... nothing like this had ever been recorded in Neopia's history.
It was 1:00 AM Tuesday by the time I got to the Lair of the Beast. I had all
my supplies, which is usually nothing but clothes, book, and my lucky Zobamints.
(I travel light) I climbed up the steep cave wall, and found myself with nothing
but the lonesome sound of the water dripping. The stalagmites seemed to form
fierce sharp talons. A torch was places on one of them. I picked it up and continued
on my way.
The place had obviously not been traveled recently. Spyder webs covered the
the way, it got suddenly colder, everything went dark. I was barely able to
make out the dim outline of a old rope that hung upward. It was obviously the
way to the Beast. The big question was, what would I find up there?
I heard an excessive scratching noise. Surely the beast noticed my presence.
I had emerged out of a small hole by climbing the rope. I could feel the beast's
rancid breath upon me. A large dark hole was partly visible in the side, teeth-shaped
rocks surrounded it. I had come too far, I went into the darkness.
As I entered, I heard a slight purring sound, when a thin black diamond with
yellow edges came and attacked me... no... it was the beak of the The Beast!
Drooling, showing off its sharp talons, and the red spike on the back suddenly
reminded me of something. I had nothing else to really do. If it was a tunnel,
what would be on the other side, and how would I get back? I ran outside the
hole and read the book I had brought along for any info. It had so happened
the book I brought was not about Tyrannia as I thought. I had brought a petpet
book accidentally. But I considered, maybe, just maybe, this book may have some
info. I started to doze as I to the SP. However, right before my eyelids shut,
I noticed a familiar looking spike.
I was wide awake now. I noticed the petpet Spirkle was very familiar looking
the Beast in its one spike. The info I was given was that Spirkles roam the
sea floor looking for bigger Spirkles to be with. Looking closer, those spikes
that formed around the dark hole I went through to look for the Beast with had
a slight organic look to them.
This was dumbfounding: Did Spirkles really have a hidden relation to the Beast?
They were sea creatures, so how could they get inside the land cave? I thought
harder. As I entered the cave, I recalled that it was part of a huge mountain.
My brain jumped to the conclusion that snow gathers on the mountain once and
a while, melts into water, and submerges the Beast's lair. Spirkles must somehow
make it to this body of water, notice the spike inside the lair, and are attracted
to the beast, or to them, the larger Spirkle.
The beast must of transformed visiting Spirkles into rock by killing and having
them be fossilised over the thousands of years. This theory of course, must
mean the Beast must have some other relative to a long living creature. The
beast would no be related to Dr. Sloth, because Dr. Sloth is more human then
animal. The next thing I thought of was horrifying: The Monoceraptor. The Monoceraptor
has been around about as long as my theory shows the Beast has. The tunnel must
lead to wherever the Monoceraptor waits until told to attack Tyrannia.
It was horrifying, but no theory is complete without proof. I had to make
it through that tunnel.
I tried dodging, jumping, everything I could to past the Beast, but I'd either
mistake an exit for a cavern wall, or be blocked passage by the Beast. Soon,
I noticed my left arm had a sort of 'wet' feeling. It started to ache. I looked
over: The Beast bit, and slobbered, my left arm! I couldn't move it, the acid
in the saliva must of have a numbing chemical. I ran outside as fast as I could,
and collapsed outside of the Giant Omelette.
When I awoke, I was in the Neopian Hospital. Hey, so what if I was late for
school! I think my arm being almost chomped off my a evil monster of doom should
count as an excused absence, right? Right now I'm being treated and should be
able to operate like normal on Sunday. I had no proof my theory was correct,
but I'm going to be comparing notes while I'm here. I can also only hope the
supposed 'new world' doesn't come out anytime soon, or else I'll miss some exciting
stuff. As always, bye in six different languages until next time.
Next time you visit the beast, tell him I'm hiring a Lawyer! |
