Snow Faerie: Friend or Foe?

by averyangryshaylir

TERROR MOUNTAIN - The way I see it, There are two kinds of people in Neopia. There are those who loathe the Snow Faerie, and those who worship her. Those who aren't too fond of the ice lady are ones who have gotten very expensive items for her quests and haven't gotten much in return. Those who kiss the ground she walks on are the ones who've gotten really cheap quests and received rare items in return. (Dark Battle Duck, Iron Lupe Sword, Fire Draik Morphing Potion, etc.)

Everybody knows how the Snow Faerie works. She requests two-four items. (Usually from the Pharmacy, the Magic Shop, or the Chocolate Shop) These items can range from 100 NP to 20,000 NP in price. You gather the items from the shop wizard, she rewards you. Now, It's rather hard to tell if the quest will be worth it, because what she gives you is completely random and has nothing to do with how much you spend. This is why some people hate her, and some people don't.

There are actually more then two sides to this whole Snow Faerie argument and I will address as many as possible in this article. My goal in this article is to get to the roots of the follow question, Is the Snow Faerie friend or foe?

Most people think that the Snow Faerie is just a normal faerie who's trying to make a living on the harsh peaks of Terror Mountain. Asking for items just so she can survive the icy tundra. These people think she doesn't mean any harm and that she's just doing what she can to keep on going. This is perfectly plausible in my mind. If I lived all by myself on Terror Mountain I'd be asking people to do quests too, maybe not for survival but even just for a little bit of fun in my life.

Other people think the Snow Faerie is some sort of shrew who lives locked away in her little igloo of sorts, forcing innocent bystanders to do her insanely expensive quests. Of course, this is a bit of an exaggeration but that is how some people perceive her. I can somewhat see how that'd get that idea when some people get nothing but quests costing over 20,000 NP from her. A person's perception of the faerie all depends on how lucky they are with her quests.

Some people even think that the Snow Faerie's quests are part of a conspiracy of some sort. They think the reason she asks for quest items is to help her plot of Neopia domination. For some reason I honestly doubt this is the case, even she does request expensive items I just can't imagine her being evil. Then again, looks can be deceiving I suppose.

In all honesty I believe we need to cut the Snow Faerie a little bit a slack. It's not as if we have to do our quest against our will. If she gives you an expensive quest that will take a huge chunk our of your bank account, simply don't do it. If you do decide to do it just be aware you most likely won't get much of a profit from it. If it's a cheaper quest, Then go for it. There's nothing to lose really, and you'll be doing her a good favour.

So, in the end, Which is the Snow Faerie? Friend or Foe? Good or evil? Like all things in this world it's not just black and white, but shades of gray. In my opinion the Snow Faerie isn't some kind of evil doer, but she isn't a saint either. She is somewhere in between. The best of both worlds you can say. To what to degree, I don't know, and probably will never know. All I know is next time the Snow Faerie gives you a quest, don't bite her head off. Remember, She's not doing it just to be spiteful.
