The WereLupe Files Case 1: The Beginning

by neojolteon2

Untitled Document

It all happened when I was just resting on my front porch of my NeoHome. I got to close my shop early due to a sell out and Maylas, my brother, was out with some friends. So I had the whole house to myself. And being a Lupe, I liked nothing more than to sit out and wait for the moon to rise.

Slowly but surely, daylight faded and the moon rose. I was surprised to see it was a full moon. I must've forgotten. I watched and let my mind drift over thoughts. The moon made my orange fur shine and enlightened my spirits. Suddenly, a rustle came from the bushes beside my porch.

"Who's there?" I called out. There was no answer.

"Maylas, is that you trying to scare me?" I called again. Still no response. A low growl emitted from my mouth. I hated Maylas playing these practical jokes on me. One time he lied to me saying the Ice Cream Factory was going out of business and trying to get rid of their stock. So I rushed down there and bursted through the doors only to be thrown out by the Lupe guards. When I got home, there was Maylas laughing his head off.

I got up and hopped off of my porch and over to the bushes. Beyond these bushes was a forest. I went walking through there all the time exploring and having a good time. But in the dark it scared me. A cloud crossed over the moon making it pitch black so I couldn't see.

Suddenly, something leapt at me with a snarl. I tried to get out of the way but it latched onto my leg. I yelped in pain and tried to fight it off. But the creature clung on and tried to pull my leg off. I remembered I had left my weapons inside my house and cursed myself for doing so. The creature gave another tug. I took my free paw and swung it at my foe. I felt my claws hit something and the creature released running off. I quickly got up and ran inside. I limped into my house and turned on the lights. I ran to the bathroom to examine the damage. My leg was torn badly and bleeding. I rinsed it under the sink even as it stung. Some of my fur was missing.

As I pulled my arm out and dried it, I noticed I had huge teeth marks in my arm. I ignored it and wrapped it up to stop the bleeding. I would have to report this attack tomorrow to the police.

I reside to my living room and laid down on the couch. It was 11:00 p.m.. It was getting late. I was wondering where Maylas was. That Draik was always a trouble maker. I decided I would go to bed early. I was starting to feel tired and sick. As I got up and to my bedroom, I started to feel weird. I felt hot and began to pant. I staggered into my bed and covered up.

"Must've just lost too much blood," I thought and fell asleep.

"Colbolt. Colbolt! Colbolt wake up! Some one broke into our house!"

I lazily opened my eyes to see Maylas' starry snout in my face. I pushed him away with my paw.

"What are you talking about?" I asked grouchily. I yawned, stretched, and looked around my room. Everything was a mess! Clothes strewn about and ever moved or wrecked.

"How did this happen?" I shouted and looked at Maylas.

"Hey! It wasn't me! My friends dropped me off and I went straight to bed,." Maylas said.

"That's it. I'm calling the police," I said getting out of bed.

"But I didn't do it!" Maylas restated.

"Not on you, you idiot. On the break in," I scorned him.

I picked up the receiver and dialled the Neopian Police.

"Neopian Police. How may I help you?" a voice said.

"Yes, I would like to report a break in and an attack," I said.

"Okay. Now what is your address?" the person asked.

"54 Garou Lane," I answered.

"We'll have someone over right away," the person said then hung up.

"You were attacked?" Maylas asked as I hung the phone up.

"Duh! Didn't you see the... bandage... on... my... leg?" I held up my leg to see no bandage on my paw. It looked perfectly fine. "That's strange. I could've sworn I was attacked. I had teeth marks, missing fur, and was bleeding badly," I claimed.

"Maybe," Maylas said. He turned and went into the living room. Soon enough, the TV was on. I sighed and waited by the window for the police.

"Hey Colbolt! Check this out!" Maylas called.

I rushed into the living room to find Maylas watching the news.

"Last night there were claimed sighting of a Werelupe," the reporter said. "The Werelupe ran amuck howling and attacking people. Luckily no one was hurt. Most Neopians believe it was some practical joke just like in 1954. Police are out looking of this prankster," the Aisha reporter said.

"Back to you Carrg," the Aisha said. The camera went to a Grarrl.

"Thank you Alishia," Carrg said. "In other news, The LUPE stock today soared 10 points..." I turned the TV off because the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it," I told Maylas.

I went over to the door and opened it. Standing there was a red Lupe cop with a green Scorchio cop.

"Is this 54 Garou Lane?" the Lupe asked.

"Yes. I'm the one who reported the crime," I said to the Lupe

"So when did this happen?" the Lupe asked. The Scorchio pulled out a pen and paper and began to write something.

"Last night I was attacked," I said.

"Do you know what time? Where were you?" the Lupe went on.

"It must've been around 10:30 p.m.. I was at my porch watching the moon rise like any other Lupe," I said.

"Then what happened?" the Lupe questioned.

"I heard a rustling in the bushes. I checked it out but then couldn't see because the moon was covered by a cloud. That's when someone attacked me," I reported. The Scorchio copied this all down.

"When was your house broken into?" the Lupe asked.

"Sometime last night. I don't know. I was asleep," I told him.

"So, the crook broke in, and didn't harm you?" the Scorchio spoke up at last.

"I guess..." I trailed off.

"Was anything stolen?" the Scorchio went on.

"Not anything I know off," I told him.

"Thank you then sir," the Lupe tipped his hat and they began to leave.

"Wait! Aren't you going to check out my room?" I called.

"We don't have time. We have other reports to follow up on. If we find anything, we'll let you know." The Lupe and Scorchio both got in the police car and left.

"A lot of help they did," I said slamming the door closed.

"No help form the cops?" Maylas said peeking his head from the kitchen. I could smell breakfast cooking.

"No," I growled. I sat down at the table.

"Don't you have to be at work soon?" Maylas asked. I looked at the clock. It was 9:45!

"Oh shoot! I'm going to be late!" I got up quickly and jumped out the door. What I didn't hear was Maylas snickering. I found out later he had set the clock an hour ahead.

To be continued...
