The Belligo snickered, "Hehehe. You want to fight me."

"You better believe it."

The monster backed up. He was ready to charge again. I was ready to dodge. He took off running, and I jumped...but he veered toward me and WHAM! I slid three feet after I was pounded to the ground. The pain was awful.

"I'm the most powerful creature in Neopia!" boasted the Belligo. "There's no way you can beat me!" The beast opened his enormous mouth with two giant fangs, rows of jagged teeth, and a giant red tongue. He growled. Just then, I heard a loud blast, and the Belligo shut his mouth. I saw a ray of light that shot the monster, and the Belligo fell to the ground. What was that?

Then, I saw Shanter. But my pet didn't perform that attack. By him was a tall woman with long, violet hair, clad in green with...wings?

"You're not the MOST powerful!" she laughed. Shanter barked. But the Belligo wasn't finished. He turned around.

"Battle Faerie!" the Belligo exclaimed. "Back off! This is MY fight!"

So that's who she was! The Battle Faerie. But how did she know to come? The Battle Faerie said, "I saw this Gelert hurt in the forest, and I decided to come and help it. It explained what happened."

"It doesn't matter!" snarled the Belligo. "There'll be nobody to help you after I..."

The Battle Faerie wielded her sword. The Belligo bounced at her, but she responded with a swift slash. The monster flinched back in pain. "Do you want another slash?"

The Belligo glared at her, then at Shanter, then at me. "I'll be back..." He vanished.

The Battle Faerie put her sword back. She looked at me. "Menka, the exit to this forest is just due east from here. It should take you an hour or two from now, but I'll make sure you don't run into any trouble."

I tried to get up, but I was in too much pain. "Oh, I'm sorry," the Battle Faerie said.

She lifted her sword to the air and glowed blue, then pointed it at me. I began to glow with a blue aura, too. Then, it faded. I was no longer in pain!

"Th-thank you..." I said as I got up.

"Menka," said the Battle Faerie. "Never travel in this forest ever again."

I nodded. Then, she vanished.

Shanter looked at me. "Guess it's time to go," I said. "C'mon."

We began to walk due east, just as the Battle Faerie had instructed. Neopia Central was just a little ways from here.

The End
