The Ugliest Techo

by vanilladreamcloud

Once upon a time, long long ago, in a hidden kingdom in Neopia called Techotalia, an adorable blue baby Techo named Ray was born. His parents loved him to death. On a trip to the Lost Desert, his father even brought him back a pet - a Sunutek named Py. Ray loved Py, and Py loved him back.

One night, the evil Dr. Frank Sloth snuck into the little Techo's bedroom and fed him an evil potion - a potion that turned him into a mutant Techo. In the morning, his mother was so sad and disgusted she became ill. His father was so angry that, that night, he wrapped Ray up in a blanket and left him on someone's doorstep. Little did he know, Py followed him out. He sat by Ray all night.

The next morning, a mean, grumpy old Techo found Ray and Py on his doorstep. He was so disgusted by Ray's looks he locked him up in an empty room at the top of his house. This room could only be opened from the outside. He put Py in a cage and hung him up in the same room. Ray was only fed 3 pieces of bread and 3 glasses of water a day. Eventually, when Ray became older, he was able to bust the wires on Py's cage and free him, but they were both still trapped in the room for years.

Meanwhile, the Techotalian princess, Princess Merissa, a green Techo, was being forced to marry an evil, money-hungry yellow Techo named Lord Todo, a yellow Techo. One day, Lord Todo found his prized Bronze Scorchstone had been stolen. Lord Todo sent all of the king's Techos to find it. When they came back, announcing they hadn't found it, the furious Lord Todo called them idiots and grumbled that the only way to get anything done was to do it himself. So Lord Todo hopped on his Uni and went to find it, dragging his fiancée along with him.

They had searched high and low until they arrived at the grumpy old Techo's house. Lord Todo went searching, while Princess Merissa wandered around, when she came across Ray's room. She opened the door and the first thing she saw was Py, curled up sleeping in the corner. Then she caught a glimpse of Ray and gasped as his appearance, and was about to scream.

"Oh, please don't yell," said Ray, "I wouldn't want you to wake up my Sunutek."

"Who...what are you?" asked Princess Merissa.

Ray told her his life story. Merissa broke out in tears, and told him of her situation, being a Princess engaged to someone she does not love.

Merissa, who had not bothered to close the door, carefully snuck Ray outside, with Py trotting behind quietly. She explained things to him he had never been exposed to before - grass, flowers, clouds, the sun. She was surprised as to how happy Ray was - how open-minded. Before either of them knew it, she was in love with him, and he her.

Techotalia was off the coast of Neopia. As they sat on the beach, they decided to build a boat and run off together. After they had constructed the boat and put it on the water, Py hopped on. As Ray was helping Merissa on the boat, Lord Todo appeared on the Uni.

"Merissa dear, what are you doing? Let's go to the next house," he said.

"No. I'm leaving you. I love Ray," she replied.

Lord Todo's eyes grew wide and his nostrils flared. "HIM?! But he's a MUTANT! He's... he's so... appauling! He is not suitable for a Princess!"

"I don't care!" she said, "He isn't a Neopoint-driven fiend like YOU!"

Merissa had gotten on the boat and as they were about to sail away, Sweety, Lord Todo's blue Uni, who had been sitting there listening the whole time, suddenly reared back and knocked Lord Todo off her back. She galloped quickly and jumped on to the boat right before it sailed away. They could see Lord Todo yelling and kicking at the sand, but were too far out to sea to hear him.

Ray and Merissa, with Py and Sweety at their sides, made a lovely little NeoHome off the southeastern coast of Mystery Island. They opened up a small shop and sold Techotalian merchandise. They lived happily ever after, and not one person ever taunted Ray's looks again.

The End
