The Discovery of the Vines Cave

Not so long ago, there lived two Aishas who were best friends. They were called Buddy, who was a male spotted Aisha who had a heart of gold, and MS4, who was a female red Aisha who was always looking for a new adventure.

One day, the two of them were laying around Buddy’s room listening to the new song of the Blue Kacheek Group. All of a sudden, MS4 stood up.

“I’m bored,” she announced.

“Me too,” Buddy said getting up.

“Let’s do something.”

“Like what,” said Buddy, half amused.

“Go into the city?” asked MS4.

“Went there yesterday,” answered Buddy.

“Park?”

“Boring.”

“Beach?”

“Too many there today,” said Buddy.

“The harbour? I am getting annoyed and I swear, if you don’t agree with...” said MS4 gritting her teeth.

“Yeah okay,” said Buddy with a smile as he and MS4 left the room and headed for the harbour without another word.

Half an hour later, Buddy and MS4 reached the harbour. There weren’t many boats left today on the jetty. The ocean was calm and the sky was blue with the sun up high.

“Now what?” asked MS4. Buddy looked around. “Come on. We’ll see if the NeoPet who hires boats has an idea what we can do.” So they went into a small wooden shed that was in front of the jetty.

“Ah-hoi there you two younger,” said an old blue Acara with a sailor’s hat on, “What can I do for you on this fine sailing day?”

“We’re looking for something to do sir. Have you any suggestions?” asked MS4.

The Acara rubbed his gray fur under his chin. “Well, I don’t have any jobs that you two can do, but....” said the Acara turning around to the back wall.

“Well what? Please. We are really really bored. We’ll do any thing,” said Buddy turning him back around. The old Acara looked at the two Aishas and sighed “I have heard rumors about an Island called the Vines Island that has the Vines Cave on it. A cave that is made out of rushing lava that went through the earth leaving a hollow in it hundreds and hundreds of years ago. Nobody has found it yet.”

“Wow! Imagine that Buddy. We would be on the front page of all the news papers for a week!” said MS4 thinking of it.

“So where is this island?” asked Buddy.

“It is near Mystery Island and Island Mystic. But it is way too dangerous,” Warned the Acara shaking his head.

“Oh yeah? What is so dangerous?” asked MS4.

“There is said to be a Lupe. A three headed Lupe that eats small NeoPets like yourselves. I would most likely search for the Vines Cave myself, but I can’t run fast enough because I am too old,” said the Acara

“Don’t worry sir we can run really fast,” said Buddy.

“There has to be an upside too,” said MS4.

“Oh there is. There is a diamond. A huge green diamond that is worth more Neopoints then you can imagine. But you can’t take it away from the cave or many bad things will happen to everyone.”

“So what is the point of going?” asked MS4.

“Well two reasons, you two will be the first two to find it,” said the Acara giving a plastic blow up boat to buddy, “And the second is that it will give you something to do.”

Buddy nods and a minute later the two best friends were on the water rowing in search of the island.

Two hours later Buddy was laying taking in the sun whilst MS4 rowed.

“I’m bored. Let's go home,” said Buddy sitting up.

“Your joking! Not after we have come out this far!”

“To where? More sea! There is no such thing as the Vines Island or Vines Cave. We should just...” Buddy said then shouted pointing, “Hey, MS4, look!”

She turned to find a small island coming into range.

“That is....” MS4 said unable to finish.

“That must be the Vines Island. Come on let's go,” said Buddy taking over the awes.

So they rowed until they hit soft sand of the island. Together, they pulled the boat on the shore and hid it under some fallen tree branches.

“Now where to?” asked Buddy looking around at all the trees.

“Come on,” said MS4 as they started to walk in between the trees and into the island.

“Hey, Buddy, look at that,” she said pointing to a small volcano in the middle of the island.

“Come on, let's check it out,” said Buddy starting to run in the volcano’s direction, “Last one there is a rotten egg!”

“Hey that’s not fair!” MS4 laughed as she stated to run. As she passed Buddy, she fell rolling down a steep hill.

“ARH!” Screamed MS4 unable to stop. Without thinking, Buddy started to descend down the hill quickly, “MS4!” When Buddy reached the bottom MS4 was standing up looking around at the dried lava that had made a tube that you could walk down.

“Are you okay?” Buddy asked.

“Yeah, fine. Look at this,” said MS4 touching the dried lava.

“This must be part of the Vines Cave,” said Buddy.

“Yeah. Hey got a match?” asked MS4 as she bent down and picked up a wooden torch.

Buddy got out a match from his pocket that he always carried for no reason. He lit the torch. The whole cave lit up.

“Well, I guess we know why it was called the Vines Cave,” said Buddy as he started to walk to the volcano’s direction.

All above them both were lots and lots of vines that hung to the roof. It gave the cave a strange look. Soon all daylight was gone and only the torches’ light showed them objects. Buddy’s neck prickled like someone had just blown onto it.

“Hey MS4, did you feel that?” Buddy asked.

“Feel what?”

“Never mind,” he said continuing walking. After a few minutes, there was a light in the distance.

“Hey, what’s that?” asked Buddy.

“I don’t know, let's find out,” replied MS4.

So very carefully, they crept to the light. As they turned around a corner they saw where the light was coming from. Many torches were lit around the outside of a large room that looked like the tubes but much bigger and it also had another difference.

On the other side of the room, it fell away like a cliff but it had an island of rock that had a rock bridge crossing over to it. In the middle of the island, laid a huge green diamond that was a bit bigger then each Aisha.

“Do you see...” asked Buddy.

“Yes,” replied MS4.

“Do you believe...”

“Yes.”

“Could we just...”

“No,” replied MS4.

Slowly, they approached the bridge. They looked down the cliff. Red hot lava bubbled beneath them. Buddy backed away.

“There is no way I am going to go across there. No way in the world,” said Buddy backing away from the ledge.

“Oh, come on Buddy. Just don’t look down,” said MS4 grabbing his paw and pulling him towards the bridge. They started to cross when some rock fell under Buddy’s shoe. He looked down and screamed. It was a long fall with only a welcome of lava. He forced himself to keep going. MS4 got off the bridge first and to the diamond first and Buddy came right after.

“Wow,” said MS4 looking the diamond over and over.

“Yeah. Wow,” Buddy said putting his paw on it, “Hey it’s warm.”

“Hey, there they are!” shouted a voice from the entrance of the room. Both Buddy and MS4 turned around to see a Lupe with three heads growling at them and coming towards the bridge. Both of the best friends stepped back to the edge of the island as it wasn’t that big. Their faces only showed fear.

“Uh oh...” said Buddy. At that moment MS4 saw a vine above the diamond. She whispered into Buddy’s short right ear, “See the vine above the diamond? On the count of three jump up and grab the vines and we’ll swing over the top of them. And I’ll cut it. Got it? One, Two.”

“Three!” she yelled as both Aishas jumped onto the vine and with MS4’s tail she cut the vine sending them both flying over the top of the Lupe After clearing over the bridge, they let go and landed on firm ground. Without a second thought, they both started to run back down through tube.

“Hey! After them!” shouted the middle head of the Lupe. The Lupe jumped around and ran after them. The Lupe slide around the corner as MS4 looked back. She screamed and kept on running. The Lupe was gaining but both of them got to the opening of the tube where they tried to scramble out. The Lupe jumped up and got MS4’s leg in his mouth.

“ARH!” she screamed as the Lupe tried to pull her back down. Buddy turned around and grabbed her two front paws and pulled her.

“I can’t pull...” Buddy said then came up with an idea, “Kick the one that has your leg with your other foot!” MS4 kicked and got him right between the eyes. He let go and both of the best friends ran up the hill and then down to their boat, where they rowed the boat back to the harbour and never did either return back to the Vines Cave.
