The Half Faerie: Part One

by elorien

"Phooey, now what?!" Galadrial fingered her knapsack, where all her belongings were stored. "These items are getting heavy. I mean, with each of us carrying all these things, we must be developing powerful muscles!" Gala grinned at her pets, a male red Shoyru named Flamechi and a female blue Kougra named Kala. Both pets had heavy packs on their backs, weighed down with as many items as they could carry. Kala, the oldest and strongest pet, carried all the valuables, while Gala carried toys, books, and food, and Flamechi carried any other necessities. They had been walking around Neopia for days, trying to find a shop for Gala to buy with her extra money. It was such a change from her old life. Life had been good in the Faerie City, Gala's birthplace... But that was before the truth was unearthed.

Gala, the daughter of the Faerie Queen, was found only to be half Faerie, and the other half was elfin. While her magic was strong, she was an outcast. Not being able to stand the fake smiles and horrible rumors going a round her school, she used her wings and powers to fly down to Neopia with everything she could carry, and her pets followed, Flamechi carrying Kala down. Unfortunately, she was drained after the long trip and immediately fainted when the landed. Her pets took turns standing guard and nursing her to health. When Galadrial awakened, she found her pets exhausted and hungry. She quickly fed them and made them sleep, but not before she realized she had no idea where she was. That was 2 days ago...

Gala knew her food and magic were running low, but she didn't tell her pets, not wanting to worry them. She just kept walking east, hoping she would find something eventually. Her pets were growing grumpier though, and bickered more. Their search for shelter and food grew more frantic. Then they found something ... actually, someone: the Wandering Outcasts.

The Wandering Outcasts were a small group of pets and Faeries who were different: an EXTREMELY kind Dark Faerie, an Uber Water Faerie with legs and wings instead of a tail, and the little known Renegade Faerie, who teaches stray pets to fend for themselves.

Each had their own pets. The Dark Faerie, named Demona, but Mo for short, had a sweet pink Kacheek, named Daisy; the water Faerie, named Aqua, had a blue Quiggle named Drop. The Renegade Faerie (Ren for short) had at least five of each pet, which were nestled in groups by species. They stumbled (quite literally) upon a young Faerie girl and her pets who were fast asleep. The Faeries sensed the Faerie blood in the stranger and carried her and her pets to their camp. Soon the Faeries were engaged in a debate over what to do with the three newcomers.

Aqua: They must go back to Faerieland. The girl is obviously a descendant of the Faerie Queen!

Ren: She's a renegade too! Can you not see she is not completely Faerie?

MO: She looks nice enough. Maybe we can persuade her to join us?

Aqua: I don't know. Half Faerie or no, she is too young to be out in Neopia on her own.

Ren: Her powers are vast. I strongly suspect a mix with another magical creature. She needs training with her powers. When I was young, I ran from Faerieland too. Different Faeries aren't as welcome in the City as 'pure' faeries. We all know that...

MO: Shhh, she is waking up. Lets see what she wants, and give her some breakfast. She looks famished!

With that the three faeries walked over to the young girl. She introduced herself as Galadrial and her pets as Flamechi and Kala. Soon they were all sitting down to a breakfast of toast and eggs. Flamechi and Kala went off to mingle with all the pets in the caravans as Gala explained how she had come to leave the Faerie City. When she finished, the outcasts explained how they found Gala.

MO: ... and that's when you woke up.

Ren: As you can see, we are also different from our fellow Faeries. We are the Wandering Outcasts. If you would like, you can stay with us until you find a place to settle. We can teach you how to harness your magic to use it in your best interest.

Gala: That would be great! Thank you, we were nearly out of food. You came around in the nick of time.

Soon it was time for he Wanderers to pack up their caravans and find a new camp. They would help more Neopians, then move on. Ren used her magic to create a separate caravan for Gala and her pets to stay in. Then they were off.

To be continued...
