Walking on the Path of Victory

by gohanohki

When I first opened my eyes after I had hatched, my owner knew that I would be a special NeoPet. It seemed fitting for her to call me Chibi_Aqua, because I had been created to be a small, aquatic Shoyru. Gohanohki, my owner, had gotten her own name from combining two Anime characters into one name. Enough about that, I need to tell this with little detail, because I have to get on with my story.

It was my first day of life, and my owner was walking happily along the main streets of this "Neopia" her friend, gryphon_66, had told her about. I had just learned to walk, so for my safety, my owner had wanted to carry me. But I was a determined little NeoPet, so I insisted on trying out this new ability to walk.

Later in the day my mother and I went to the hospital where NeoPets were created and sick pets were treated. "What we doing here, mommy?" I asked gohanohki. OK, so at the time my vocabulary wasn't large. "We are going to create another pet. How about a.....brother?" she answered.

A brother? OK, I knew what this word meant, and at first I thought my mommy wanted this pet and get rid of me. Obviously I didn't know she could have four pets. "Mommy?" I asked. "When I go away?"

"Go away?" she said, startled.

"What do you mean by that?"

"Brother replace me," I answered, my head looking down at the floor.

"Honey," she answered, a sparkle of kindness in her eyes. "This is a friend for you, a playmate. Not a replacement."

I danced around, happy that I wasn't leaving and was going to have a baby brother! The brother turned out to be a purple Kau, named Chibi Tomadachi (If your wondering, his name means "Little Friend" in Japanese).

As the hours went on, my brother and I had a wonderful time. But when my owner muttered about another NeoPet, I almost jumped 3 feet into the air! Another playmate? This was wonderful!

Walking to the hospital, my mother didn't say much, most likely doubting that she was getting another pet without much money and had just started coming to Neopia. Looking at a book with all the NeoPets, my mother decided on the one she liked, and left me and Chibi_Tomadachi to play alone.

"Look at the page she was looking at!" Chibi_Tomadachi told me, dying of curiosity. The page had an attractive catlike creature on it, but on the same page, a big, mean- looking monster! My mother had taught me and Chibi_Tomadachi to read, so I looked at the strange name under the monster's picture.

"Ske....Skeith? Skeith?" I said, trying the sounds out. Chibi_Tomadachi looked at the picture, and held his breath, trying not to yelp.

"He's not that mean, he NeoPet, a NeoPet's not mean," I told him, trying to help my courage raise, also.

At that moment my owner came out with a small cat in her arms. The cat creature I saw by the monster! Me and my brother breathed a sigh of relief, and trotted over to our new brother.

"His name is Chibi_Obsidian," Gohanohki explained. "He is a blue Kougra, and your new brother!"

After that, nineteen days wore on, nineteen days of fun, and pleasure with my siblings. My mother, now managing our house, but still not quite rich, thought a fourth NeoPet could help all of us with chores.

"Not another brother, I hope..." I muttered to myself. Having two brothers was fun, but they were really rowdy. As if reading my mind, my mother announced that we will have a baby sister.

Walking to the hospital, I skipped alongside my mother, happy to have a playmate to play dolls with. Was it my imagination, or did my brothers slouch behind us, sad to have three girls in the family? Leaving us to play, mother went into a room where NeoPets are created, and came out soon with a pinkish red thingy with hooves and a mermaid tail. "A Peophin," My mother explained. "Chibi_Diamond is a red Peophin, and your baby sister."

My mother let me hold her, and she was SO kawaii (cute)! She whinnied softly, and at that moment I just knew we would get along. A while later, me and my brothers were around forty days old, my sister around twenty, and my mother came home with a smile on her face, so wide it could have been stretched to both ends of the Grand Canyon.

"I just won ten thousand NP on the Wheel of Excitement!" she yelled. The day after that, she won again, also the day after that. After winning three times, her winning streak seemed to go down.

When the Tatsu became the Eyrie, my mother wished she could have five pets. It resembled a griffin, and since her friend was named griffin, she loved drawing them, and wanted an Eyrie. She pondered giving up one of us for adoption, but dismissed the thought very quickly.

To her giving pets up for adoption was a crime, even if gryphon_66 had given two of his pets up for adoption earlier. So, watching gryph getting an Eyrie, she decided to forget about it. Now, gohanohki had lowered her prices in her shop to a tenth of what they were before a week or so before, and decided to launch a contest: Whoever buys the most stuff wins two map pieces and an Ice Totem!

After that, stock went out like mad. Wanting to have all this counting end, mother ended the contest two days early. The winner (I do not want to mention the winner's name, she could get hacked be others wanting to steal her prizes) bought twenty three items! My mother didn't have Neomail....well, couldn't use it, so she made the winner her Neofriend.

Noticing quickly that she couldn't send the Totem, my mother felt very sad for the winner. Noticing there was next to no profit in her shop because of the low prices, my owner raised them a little, hoping this was another step on the Path of Victory.

The End
