Plushie Collecting: A Fun Way to Become Poor

by lightning_chik

There are people in Neopia who collect plushies simply for the sake of having a gallery. There are others, however, who collect them because they think it will be “a fun thing to do” as I used to think. I’m writing this article to convey my feelings and thoughts on Plushie Collectors, and hopefully I will inspire some people to take it up as a hobby.

***BE PREPARED TO SPEND MANY THOUSANDS OF NP***

The First Step
The hardest part of plushie collecting is deciding what type of collection you want. My gallery isn’t very complete yet, but as of yet I haven’t seen a totally complete gallery either. Some types of galleries you could make are:

Favourite Plushies
Colour Galleries
Magical Plushie Gallery
Species Gallery
Unbuyable Galleries
Every Plushie Gallery

All of these galleries can be very difficult to complete. Most people opt for the final type, as I have.

The Beginning Plushies
The Toy Shop is where I started, as most of the plushies there are cheaper with haggling than ones from the Shop Wizard. Aisha plushies, Elephante plushies and Buzz plushies are the easiest ones to get at first. Then move on to the more expensive plushies using the Shop Wizard. Kacheek Plushies, Usul Plushies, Wocky Plushies, Chia Plushies and Tuskaninny Plushies are the ones to search for. Be sure to get all the basic colours first (red, green, blue and yellow) before moving onto a different and far more expensive type.

***HINT: Keep all your plushies in your safety deposit box until your collection is fairly complete***

The True Gallery Type Plushies
Most Blumaroo Plushies, different coloured Fuzzles (regular and evil), Grundo Plushies and Techo Plushies are far more expensive than the 100 to 700 NP basic plushies. These plushies will cost 1000 to 20,000 NP These are what make Galleries good and show your NP status.

***TIP: Keep all your NP in the bank. Keep two windows open, one to search on the Shop Wizard, the other to take the exact amount out of your account to spend on the plushie. This will ensure that you do not over spend and leave yourself with less than 100 NP***

Oh My Borovan!!! Where Did My NP Go???
This is what you’ll find yourself saying over and over as the plushies you buy get more expensive. I kept all my NP with me for two months, thinking that it was the easiest way to keep track of my NP The bank does this far more easily, so you should only keep the necessary amount for the plushie with you. Go to the Omelette for food and the Healing Springs to heal your pet (OK, so how obvious is that???).

Don’t buy any plushies for a while, play every game you can possibly get NP from (the flash games are the best) until you have over 100,000 NP. You’ll want to go to the Trading Post now, with some good items and all of your NP except for 2000 (for safekeeping). Starry Techo Plushies are VERY expensive, and so are the Magical Starry Techo Plushies. Start offering one or two items and 20000 to 40,000 NP for one plushie, and hopefully the person will accept your offer. Your plushie collection should have increased and should have some good plushies in it, but your bank account would be very lonely.

Finishing Up
It will probably take up to a year to get most plushies, but you should be satisfied with how big your collection is. Create another account and get a shop. Become Neofriends with your accounts and send all your plushies to the second account. Instead of making yourself rich in your second account, use what NP you have left in your first account to buy something that is normally cheap for a lot of NP in your second account’s shop to assist your alternate account in upgrading its shop. You’ll probably need a size 50 shop, which will cost a lot of NP I hope that everyone enjoyed reading this, and that one or two people will start collecting plushies for fun.
