Petpets for Busy Owners

Petpets are truly wonderful creatures. They are loyal, loving and are always there for you when you need them, asking little in return but some food and love. They make a neofamily complete and a neohome a better place to be. Yet some pets worry that they don't have the time to properly care for another creature, with jobs and training and any number of other things that constantly steal their time.

But some petpets need more attention than others, and some need almost none at all! That is why we have decided to list some of these creatures, for all neopets out there that would like to adopt a petpet but don't have the time to take care of them 24-7.

So here you have it: the top petpets for busy owners!

1. Schnelly

Schnelly are quiet, independent petpets that require almost no attention from their owners. They are perfectly capable of doing most things by themselves, and they usually spend their days sleeping, bathing and grooming, leaving only a few minutes per day dedicated to their owners. If you would like to make your Schnelly an even happier petpet, there are many possible items you can buy in a petpet supplies shop, such as cushions, beds, food and water bowls, or even scratching toys to prevent accidents with your furniture.

2. Rock

Rocks are Tyrannian petpets that are very, very quiet -- even quieter than the Schnelly. In fact, they are so quiet that you'll barely know they're there; they don't even move or eat. If you decide to share your neohome with one, you won't have to worry about coming back home from a long day of work just to find your room all messy. Getting a Rock as a petpet is a wise choice for neopets seeking an easily transportable friend that does not consume neopoints in food and toys, but adopting one can be a big investment, as Rocks are not necessarily the cheapest petpets out there!

3. Taweret

Perhaps one of the most self-sufficient petpets on this list, the Taweret is intelligent enough to care for itself quite well, and it even has opposable thumbs, which allows it to do even more things without the help of its owner! Capable of speech, they tend to chatter nonstop, but they are friendly and extremely loyal creatures. Be warned that they shed a lot, and can leave a neohome looking like a rainforest!

4. Short Fuse

Like Rock, Short Fuse requires no food or water, which makes them the ideal petpet for owners seeking company and someone to give love to. Short Fuse are usually very loyal and attached to their owners and, although some pets find their vacant stare rather creepy, others consider that to be their charm. Just be sure to keep them away from fire, if Short Fuse is the petpet you are looking for, or you might have the Petpet Protection League knocking at your door.

5. Goldy

Although trapping a petpet in a cage might sound like something mean and unnatural to do, Goldy petpets can be quite happy if living in an aquarium big enough for their needs. These petpets won't require much attention from you, but make sure you don't forget to feed them and change their water regularly, or they might end up getting sick. Something you probably did not know: Goldy's eggshells and scales are said to be made of pure gold!

6. Greeble

Greeble don't talk much, but they are very smart and observant creatures. For these petpets, studying the environment is more important than commenting on it, so don't expect to get an opinion on a certain subject; they will most likely not give you one. Even though they rarely open their mouths, when they do, they reveal an astonishing twenty-foot long tongue that is guaranteed to catch any fly! Greeble prefer humid places over dry ones, but you can always install a temperature and humidity regulator in your neohome if you think this is the right petpet for you.

7. Geb

Geb may look silly, but they are very intelligent petpets, much like the Greeble. When threatened, they can retract their arms and legs, changing themselves into inanimate pyramid-shaped objects that work as a disguise towards other creatures they consider predators. While much is still unknown regarding these petpets, one thing is for sure: Geb are most likely one of The Lost Desert's most iconic creatures. Unfortunately, they are not necessarily the most common desert petpet out there, so finding one for a good price might be a hard thing to do. If you feel like a Geeky Geb could replace the original petpet, then those are a much cheaper choice.

8. Quintilc

Quintilc are part of Shenkuu's fanciful fauna and are considered to be one of the most delicate and fragile petpets Neopia has ever seen. Their origami-like body makes them very unique as well. These quiet petpets are the ideal creature for gentle and careful owners that would like some company at home. Because they are abundant in their homeland, Quintilc can be easily found for sale in local petpet shops for a low price. Don't let their paper body fool you, though -- their beak is still as strong as a Pteri's!

9. GX-4 Oscillabot

Half oscilloscope, half robot, the GX-4 Oscillabot is the perfect robot petpet for those seeking a non-organic companion to share their house with. Oscillabot are popular in Neopian culture and have been featured many times during history, even in Neopia's games like the Petpetsitter. If you are seeking a petpet that can help you in domestic tasks, goes to sleep when you want and fetch you drinks when you need them, Oscillabot is the right petpet for you! Batteries not included.

This ends our list for the top petpets for busy owners. We hope that it's introduced you to the perfect new friend to keep you company for many years to come, but please remember that no matter how quiet or low-maintenance a petpet may be, they are still living creatures that need time and care. Owning any pet is a big responsibility and shouldn't ever be taken lightly, but if you love them, your new little family member will give you all their love and loyalty in return.
