Money, Money, Money: A Guide to Earning Neopoints by asheiruki
--------
If you’re anything like me, you may have returned recently after years away from Neopia, all grown-up and raring to accomplish your goals since childhood: a completed lab map! Fully-customised Neopets! A comprehensive collection of every plushie ever made in Neopia! There is just one problem: your bank account. Maybe you weren’t the best at making Neopoints, or maybe you returned to a side account that has little in material assets. You see other users on the Neoboards flaunting lab-exclusive pets, expensive avatars, and stamp collections that number in the hundreds. How will you ever get close to that? Not to worry, there are plenty of ways to get from rags to riches in Neopia. This article introduces users to just a few of these methods, and hopefully you’ll soon be on the road towards achieving your Neopets dreams :) – Trudy’s Surprise: Introduced in 2015, Trudy’s Surprise can be considered a “sure-win” daily. You can spin it once a day, starting at midnight NST. You won’t win all that much in the first few spins, maybe a few thousand Neopoints, but keep at it and don’t miss a single day. Your winnings will keep increasing, and on your 25th consecutive day of spinning, you will win a whopping 100,000np! Other dailies: Do your dailies as often as you can. Sometimes it seems like all you get from them is junk, but some dailies are quite profitable with a little bit of luck. For example, Forgotten Shore and Anchor Management occasionally award Pirate Morphing Potions and Pirate Draik Eggs, which sell for a pretty penny. The Mysterious Negg Cave sometimes gives you Ultimate Icy Neggs as a reward, which are always in demand. Some really lucky users have even won rare stamps worth tens of millions of Neopoints through certain dailies (if you sniff around a little, you can figure out which, hehe). Keep at your dailies, and maybe one day you’ll strike gold. Food Club: If you have an older account, Food Club is your best bet (pun intended). In a nutshell, Food Club is a betting game where you bet on which pirates will win in an eating contest. Older accounts have higher betting limits so if you win, you win big. It seems complicated to absolute newbies, but once you figure it out, it’s a really easy way to make money consistently. Ask around on the Game Chat in the Neoboards (or even your Neofriends and guild members), and helpful users will point you towards their favourite guides and resources. As many Food Club regulars say, Goob luck! Ghoul Catchers: Ghoul Catchers is a match-3 game that you can download on your mobile device and connect to your Neopets account. Aside from being loads of addictive fun, it also awards Neopoints and items that you can sell for a profit. You can earn up to 50,000np a day (1,000np every time you complete a level), so you can keep replaying the easier levels until you hit your daily limit. Some things to note, though – unlike most dailies, Ghoul Catchers resets at 4 PM NST. Also, sometimes the app tells you that you’ve hit the Neopoint limit before you expect it to. Don’t worry, just keep an eye on your account balance onsite until you’ve earned your 50,000np. Battledome: Fighting against one-player challengers in the Battledome can be a very profitable daily, even if you don’t invest a ton of time and Neopoints into training. Every day, you can win a maximum of 15 items (and 1,500np) from defeating challengers. All you need is a pet with some stats, as well as some cheap weapons. Stats-wise, you can start anytime, but 8 Strength points are highly recommended. As for weapons, a cheap starter set is 2 x Scroll of Ultranova, a Downsize!, a Bottled Holiday Cheer, a Magical Healing Potion, a Shining Celesta Sword, a Jhudora Hourglass, and a Virtupets X-514 Super Shield. Good starter challengers are the Chia Clown or S750 Kreludan Defender Robot; both drop codestones which are always easy to sell. The Chia Clown occasionally gives out Chocolate Ice Cream (which sells for a tidy sum), while the S750 Kreludan Defender Robot gives out Neocola Tokens (and if you’re very lucky, Armoured Neggs). [Thank you Chips (mikurubeam297) for granting me permission to use information from his guide (/~Burrlee) on recommended stats/weapons/challengers!] Restocking: At its core, restocking entails buying items from the official shops in Neopia, and then reselling them in your own shop to other users. The trick to making profits from restocking is to know what to buy that will sell for a higher price than you bought it from the official shop. Of course, every restocker dreams of snagging that rare stamp or gourmet food that can resell for millions of Neopoints, but if you’re just starting out, my advice is to start small. Look for things that are consumable and always needed, such as Neggs, foods requested by Kadoaties, items for Faerie/Brain Tree/Esophagor quests, or items that are required for Faerieland Employment Agency jobs. A small tip: despite what the shopkeepers tell you, items appear in the official shops at random times! It takes some patience, so keep refreshing the shops. Don’t refresh too quickly or too often though, otherwise, you’ll get restock-banned, which is when items won’t appear for you at all for a number of hours. Stock Market: This is a slower way to make Neopoints, and sometimes it can take weeks or even months to see a profit. I personally view the Neopian Stock Market as a secondary bank account, where I can let my money sit and slowly make profits over time. The principle here is Buy low, sell high. Every day, look for a stock that costs 15np (which is the minimum price you’re usually allowed to buy stocks at) and buy 1,000 shares of it (which is the maximum number of shares you can buy a day). Don’t worry too much if your stocks fluctuate a lot, because eventually, they will increase in value. Many people sell their stocks when they hit 45np or 60np per share, but your ‘sell point’ (i.e. the price that you are willing to dump your stocks at) is entirely up to you. Just be patient, and the profits will roll in. Faerieland Employment Agency: If you’ve got time, working for the faeries at the Faerieland Employment Agency is a good option. It takes some experience to know which jobs are profitable, though, so don’t immediately rush for jobs that look like they have big Neopoint rewards. Sometimes the items requested cost more than what the faeries are going to pay you. That said, if you know what to look for and do the jobs as quickly as you can, you can make over 10,000np a day. – Thank you for reading! This has been a very brief guide to making Neopoints. There are lots of things you can learn in-depth about the things I have mentioned here, but hopefully, this article has been a good starting point for you. Keep at it, and soon enough you’ll get places you’ve only dreamed of in the past. Best wishes and happy Neopoint-earning! Authors Note: I would like to credit the various useful guides on Jellyneo, which taught me a lot when I first returned to Neopets, and which I used to fact-check this present article. Credits also to the lovely Chips (mikurubeam297), whose guide I referenced when writing the Battledome section. Check out /~Burrlee for more information and resources on the Battledome!
