Trick-or-Treat Guide to Neopia

by mickey_a94_a39

--------

Once a year, every year, the residents of Neopia turn into fiends. Candy fiends, that is! It's that time of year again, and everyone in Neopia will be out and about in their finest, spookiest, silliest Halloween costumes in search of the sweetest treats to satisfy their sweet tooth. However, not every land stands on equal footing when it comes to handing out treats. Depending on your preference, you might be in for a troublesome night finding exactly what you're looking for.

So I'm here with the fresh scoop on where to go for your Halloween treat needs! So here are the most popular lands to go to for trick-or-treating, and what you should expect when you get there.

     1. Neopia Central

The centre of Neopian culture is the top stop for sweets. It's incredibly popular with the general populace thanks in part to having some of the most widely appealing sweets shops in Neopia. This means you can expect to get some of the best candy here! Wander into the Bazaar to get the most out of your time. Not only can you go to the Chocolate Factory, the most popular stop for trick-or-treaters this time of year, but you can also swing by the Bakery for delightful confections and breads. Aside from those two stops, there's also the Slushie Shop slinging out slushies like there's no tomorrow with the waves of Neopians going in for Halloween. Even Hubert's Hot Dogs has dessert hot dogs that sell out much faster than any other time of the year. Not to mention Neopian Plaza's Pizzaroo, which also dishes out dessert pizza by the slice (and whole pizzas if you ask nicely).

While most of what you can get from Neopia Central is fairly standard fare, the hot dogs and pizzas will certainly add a spice to the evening. That means you get not only familiar things, but you can also be adventurous, and undoubtedly this land will not disappoint that chocolate or candy craving.

     2. Brightvale

You would think the centre for knowledge and scholastics in Neopia wouldn't have so much as a single piece of junk food within its borders. Such things would only hinder their minds. However, because of this healthy way of living, Brightvale is quite popular with families who are looking to present healthier alternatives to their kids. You can expect you find several varieties of jams, Floranges, Skreems, and other native fruits of Brightvale. Not a bad option and they can go with other meals, unlike chocolate and sweets. Even taking a visit to King Hagan's castle, you will find that he is in the mood to accept any sort of "wisdom" as he hands you a nice delicious Screlon, and a couple scrolls containing the horticulture of Screlons and the history of Agriculture in Brightvale respectively.

So Brightvale is truly an excellent choice for those looking for healthy alternatives to sweets and who may be curious about the history of its fruits and agriculture industry...you know, if you're into that.

     3. Terror Mountain

If you are willing to brave the frigid night temperatures at the foot of Terror Mountain, then you will be in for sweet treats galore in Happy Valley! Not only the Ice Cream Cart, but you can get your on-the-go slushies from the Slushie Shop. Science says that by bringing down your internal temperature to match your exterior temperature, you won't feel as cold. So there's nothing wrong with eating ice cream and slushies in the middle of a freezing night on Terror Mountain! So enjoy your slushie as you ride the lift up to the top of Terror Mountain. There you will get to enjoy tons of iced goodies from the Super Happy Icy Fun Snow Shop, the premiere place to trick-or-treat on Terror Mountain!

If your preference for sweets falls into the frozen-flavoured water variety, then the Brucicles and Pops are the right choices for you. Not only that, but many of the treats you can get from the Super Happy Icy Fun Snow Shop will fit snuggly into an already full bag of candy, so even if this is one of the last stops of your night, you can be sure to fit a ton of additional goodies into your candy bag!

     4. Faerieland

Now more accessible after the events of Y12, the most family-friendly entry on this list is Faerieland. Not ones to be left out of festivities, the faeries in Faerieland are very welcoming to trick-or-treaters, and they have plenty of unique, light, fluffy snacks to fill your bags before the end of the night. These treats aren't heavy in carbs or calories and even have a bit of magic imbued in them for an extra kick of flavour. There's something to be said about biting into a cookie sandwich and getting that consistency of cotton candy as it melts in your mouth. Something truly unique to Faerieland food.

So for those that shy away from chocolate or other strong sweet flavours, and who might have a hard time carrying a heavy bag all night, Faerieland is the way to go.

     5. Roo Island

If you like parties and food that's bad for your teeth, then you'll definitely have double the fun on Roo Island! Over the rainbow and through the woods you go to reach Roo Island. While you tour the island collecting candy, you'll find plenty of fun things to do, from the Merry-go-Round to Dice-a-roo! I hear there's a backroom in the Dice-a-roo tournament hall where they play for candy only on Halloween, but you didn't hear that from me. I should also mention that if you are a truly brave soul, you can take on Count Von Roo as he awakens for the day. I'm not entirely sure why he stays up, it could be there's more chances to beat Neopians in his game of Deadly Dice, or possibly he enjoys a bag of candy every now and again just like the rest of us.

     6. Haunted Woods

For true traditionalists. Your Halloween wouldn't be complete until you take a trip into the Haunted Woods. The one day where it truly....comes alive! Be prepared for more tricks than treats as you wander the streets of the Haunted Woods. This is the one night a year where it's appropriate to scare the daylights out of anyone that walks by after all. This is also the one time a year where tourism spikes in the Haunted Woods, so you will certainly see more fantastic and spooky sights than usual. That's not to say you can't get a good treat anywhere, though. Just past the creepy camp of wanders, you will find Neovia, a quiet town with a long history and surprisingly cheerful folks. Neovians will happily fill your bag with small candies and their special pastries made fresh!

     7. Jelly World

Huh, not sure how this entry wound up on the list, never heard of this land before. But believe me, if it existed, then this would be a wonderful stop during the evening! Imagine a world where you don't even have to walk up to a Neohome to satisfy your sweet tooth. You could literally bite a wall, and it's made of Jelly! If only it were real.

So those are the most popular lands to trick-or-treat in. Obviously, Neopets everywhere are celebrating in their own unique way. I'm sure even deep in the sea, Maraqua is passing out whatever sweets they have right this very moment. Be sure to enjoy your evening, and remember, be safe and responsible when venturing out into Neopia at night!
