Neopian Holiday Customisations

by aleu1986

--------

The Month of Celebrating is upon us, and in every land across Neopia, Neopets prepare to celebrate and enjoy decorations and baked goods. Many associate this time of year with winter and snow, but the climate does not allow for that in every corner of Neopia, as these customisations will represent. In this article, I am presenting customisations from many different Neopian lands, most of which do not get much snow or cold weather, so winter fashions is not in focus here. The customisations are all themed around the Month of Celebrating and showcase how citizens of the different lands would dress, decorate and celebrate.

      Tyrannia

     Items used:

     Bone Clip Hairdo

     Cave Woman Dress

     Bone Necklace

     Bronze Sun & Moon Garland

     Festive Mini Holiday Tree

     15th Birthday Tyrannia Background

     Tyrannian Huts Cluster

Considering Tyrannia is a prehistoric land, I wanted to avoid the use of colourful string lights as I feel they would look quite out of place. The garland I chose is made out of bronze and metal with soft lights, natural materials that give off a soft glow. The cluster of huts isn`t really needed, I just added it to give more colour to the background, the yellow tones brightens up the scene. I also chose the mini tree as I felt that it fits the setting better, I like that it doesn`t take up too much space yet also gives the customisation as a whole that good, festive feeling. The bush looks like it would thrive in the hot, dry climate of the Tyrannian plains. The bracelets also add a pop of colour to the otherwise simple outfit.

Also try: Hanging Pastel Candle Garland, Greenery Candle Garland, Tyrannian Bone Wig, Fashionable Bone Wig, Scenic Tyrannian Background.

Paint Pool Foreground also works well with the Tyrannian setting, though it can not be used together with the Festive Mini Holiday Tree.

Male version: Tyrannian Fake Fur Toga, Caveman Wig.

      Shenkuu

     Items used:

     Artisans Holiday Backdrop

     MiniMME14-S2a: Summery Shenkuu Bun Wig

     Frozen Cherry Tree

     Shenkuu Fur Suit

     New Years in Shenkuu Background

     Red Satin Holiday Gloves

     Holiday Stocking Kite

     Warrior Boots

During the Month of Celebrating it gets quite cold in the mountains, so the Shenkuu Fur Suit is perfect for keeping warm, and along with the Frozen Cherry Tree it gives the scene a touch of winter. The Holiday Stocking Kite is a cute and a bit unusual holiday-themed item, but one I feel fits the Shenkuu setting. The Artisans Holiday Backdrop suits this background surprisingly well, I like how the trees look as if they`re mounted on the pillars.

Moon Phases Garland also fits the Shenkuuvian theme as they celebrate the Lunar festival and look less garish than bright string lights.

     Also try:

Rugged Work Boots, Gladiator Boots, Shenkuu Team Sparklers.

      Haunted Woods

      Items used:

     Winter Moon Background

     Victorian Gothic Gown

     Festive Holly Princess Facepaint

     Gothic Candy Cane Staff

     Ignited Trees Foreground

     Holiday Portals

Dyeworks Black: Holiday Angel Cape & Wig

Other backgrounds that go well with this customisation are New Years in Haunted Woods, Skeleton Moon and Winter in the Moonlight.

Even in the dark depths of the Haunted Woods they enjoy celebrating a different holiday than Halloween! But that doesn`t mean they don`t do it in their own, special spooky way. The blue candy cane gives a bright splash of colour, and of course, the strange skull reminds you of which land this customisation is themed around. The holiday portals in the background paired with the twisted bushes with their festive lights give the scene a whimsical style. When using this background, there`s a layer of snow on the ground, meaning that the black dyeworks version of the cape is a perfect fit.

     Male version:

     Caroler Top Hat

     Gothic Rose Shrug

     Gothic Maroon Sweater

     Black Winter Boots

     Also try:

Dreary Holiday Garland (or the Green Dyeworks version)

     Holiday Decorated Tombstones

     Dyeworks Grey: Lighted Gothic Tree

     Maraqua

     Items used:

      Seasonal Maraquan Background

     Festive Holiday Wig

     Shimmering Fin Wings

     Dewy Butterfly Bubbles

     Bubbles in the Lake

     Dyeworks Green: Iridescent Mermaid Tail

     Kelp Holiday Garland

Under the sea they also get into the spirit of the season, and naturally the Seasonal Maraquan Background is perfect for marking the occasion. It`s a background with lots of fun details, but does, in my opinion, feel a bit flat and doesn`t come off as un underwater background, so in order to give this customisation the wet look it needs, I added Dewy Butterfly Bubbles and Bubbles in the Lake. Naturally, the Seaweed Bubble Shower is a great alternative, but with DBB the big red bow in the foreground is on full display. If you want a bit more simple look, the Kelp Garland and Bubbles In The Lake make for a lovely seasonal underwater scene.

I chose to give the Neopet a mermaid look and added the fin wings to replace the natural wings of the Draik. Festive Holiday Wig is cute and simple with red flowers that sort of look like seashells, and pick up on the red colours all around.

     Also try:

     Seaweed Bubble Shower

     Dyeworks Green: Maraquan Jeweled Foreground

     Underwater Christmas Background

      The Lost Desert

     Items used:

     Cobrall Holiday Tree

     Orange Wanderer Trousers

     Golden Goddess Sandals

     Qasalan Adventurer Tunic

     Coltzans Shrine New Years Background

     Holiday Palm Tree Umbrella

If there`s one land in Neopia that never gets a white Month of Celebrating, it`s the Lost Desert! The New Years Background features a beautifully decorated shrine of Coltzan, that along with the Cobrall Holiday Tree makes the perfect setting for a holiday celebration in the desert. The tunic is a Qasalan garment, the soft tones go nicely with the golden desert sand.

     Also try:

     Poinsettias in Gold Vases Foreground

      Krawk Island

     Items used:

     Pirate Lights Garland

     Handheld Christmas Lantern

     Flaming Chest of Pirate Gold

     Pirate Throne Room Background

     Fetching Pirate Stubble

     Dyeworks Red: Pirate Knots Shirt

     Big Black Lace Pirate Hat

     Mad Tea Party Trousers

     Candy Cane Pirate Hook

Even on Krawk Island, and when sailing the seas of Neopia, Neopets want to celebrate the holiday season. Seriously, at what other times of year will you be using the candy cane hook or the pirate lights garland? The stripy outfit is, of course, the classical pirate look which also perfectly echoes the candy cane pattern.

The Handheld Christmas Lantern is a nice item that is suitable for use aboard a ship, but is a bit frustrating to use together with the candy cane hook, unfortunately, so depending on your Neopets species you may want to choose one or the other. I personally think the lantern gives the whole look that little extra touch of Christmas.

     Female version:

     Layered Pirate Dress

Luxurious Pirate Wig - optional, your pirate lady looks great in a hat, too!

     Also try:

     Candy Cane Sword

Dyeworks Red: Sophies Collectors Lantern Staff

      Altador

     Items used:

     Altadorian Constellations Background

     Winter Star and Snowflake Garland

     Golden Laurel Wig

     Gold Winged Sandals

     Red Velvet Holly Gloves

     Altador Cup V Souvenir Toga

     Altador Stage

     Lighted Columns Foreground

The columns with the string lights and the lovely toga with the white trimming and the deep red colour was seemingly made for an Altadorian holiday customisation. The background has a beautiful night sky that creates just the right ambience.

For a blue themed look, try Snowflake Garland or Gift Garland.

     Female version:

     Altadorian Cape

Ivory & Gold Toga Swim Suit

     Laurel Goddess Crown

     Also try:

Altador from the Hall of Heroes Balcony

     Space Station

     Items used:

Dyeworks Green: Handheld Pastel Candy Cane

     Electric Blue Tights and Boots

     Groovy Wet Suit

     Spaced Helmet

     Views from Space Station #4

     Cosmic Holiday Tree

     Defenders Holiday Banner

     Holiday Bumbluz Light Wings

For a holiday celebration on a space station, I thought it made sense to focus on items that are electrical, technical, hard machinery. The spiky, yellow tree isn`t exactly warm and inviting. The big lightbulbs on the Neopets back gives the feeling of the pet itself being a robot. Neopia is far away, but the residents on the space station are still celebrating and marking the holiday in their own way.

     Also try:

     Spaced Jumpsuit

     Groovy Wet Suit

     Sophix II Collectors Suit

Cybunny Scout Collectors Trousers and Boots

     Bitter Striped Tights and Boots

     Faerieland

     Items used:

     Holiday Headwreath

     Pastel Winter Trees Foreground

     Holiday String Lights

     Beach Waves Wig

     Smart School Girl Shoes

     Evergreen Snowflake Wings

     Dyeworks Green: Winter Couture Dress

     New Years in Faerieland Background

For this look I chose to base the outfit and colours on the Earth Faerie (I know they have brown hair, but I chose a wig that would look nice with the wreath) but this can easily be changed to suit your favourite elemental faerie. (See suggestions underneath).

Faerieland is known to have a hot climate, whether the land is situated in the clouds or on the ground, but I figure that faeries, being magical creatures, can conjure up some snow for the winter celebration. I fell in love with the pastel trees and thought they suited a holiday feast in Faerieland, and with the gorgeous snowflake-covered evergreen wings the winter-themed faerie look just came together perfectly.

Fire: Red Holiday Ornament Wings, (or Delicate Autumn Wings) Dyeworks Red: Winter Couture Dress. You may want to lose the head wreath for that one, but the wig still works.

Air: Sheer Blue Wings or Fluffy Cloud Wings, Dyeworks Blue: Winter Couture Dress, MME20-S3a: Blonde Side Braid Wig.

For a Water Faerie, you may not want to use wings, but you can use the same dress and try Blonde Fishtail Side Braid or Premium Collectible: Blonde Anchor Wig.

Light: Blonde Quiff Wig, Dyeworks Yellow: Elegant Holiday Tree Dress, Golden Holiday Wings.

Dark: Sleek Purple Wig, Long Gothic Dress, Dark Princess Wings.

     Also try:

Berry Nice Holiday Wings, Evergreen Holiday Scarf, Dyeworks Silver: Snowy Pine Cone Foreground.

I hope you have enjoyed looking through these holiday customisations, I certainly enjoyed putting these looks together and would love to hear your thoughts on them, so don`t hesitate to send me a Neomail with any comments or suggestions.

I wish all my readers a pleasant and peaceful holiday season.
