GELERT DAY SPECIAL

Elusive Maraquan Gelert
By Pansyparkinson14

Swimming so gracefully
In the churning sea,
Dancing, glittering with beauty:
What could that creature be?

A flash of shining, amethyst skin,
Beneath the silky waves;
Darting from here to there,
Dodging through the underwater caves.

A glimpse of a fine emerald mane,
Seen only for a moment at best,
And then the beast was gone again,
Heading quickly toward the west.

I ran after the creature, along the shore,
For such grace and beauty cannot be ignored,
And when the creature emerged for air,
With awe, I was nearly floored.

Such a handsome specimen:
A more beautiful Maraquan Gelert I have yet to see;
It looked at me once before disappearing once more,
And my heart was filled with utter glee.

Bruno Is No Brute!
By Chimp_chicken_fish

You may remember Bruno
from the Tale of Woe.
He became a mutated Gelert
by accident, you know.

Outcast from Neovia,
his sister Sophie -- ah!
Yes, he's related to that Ixi
who's mad as a Barbat.

His love interest was Lily,
quite a pretty girly.
His prayers were finally answered
by that ol' Krawk, Krawley.

Mr. Krawley had a potion
to answer Bruno's notion.
The town loved the concept
of a desire-providing concoction.

When everything went bad,
corrupting mum and dad,
Bruno had to run away
and give up everything he had.

He met young Usul Gilly
who acted rather silly.
She accidentally brought him back
to reunite with Sophie.

Sleepy Neovia town,
only ghosts were around.
They all found it creepy
that there was no other sound.

One long quest later,
when the problems became greater,
the team had divided,
their situation became graver.

The Meepit Oaks Asylum,
a zombie-ridden solution,
where Gilly found the last piece:
a mysterious orchid attribution.

Battles later, the cure was poured
into the well; Neovia restored!
The trouble was that Bruno stayed
a mutated Gelert -- but not dismayed.

The Threat of Tandrak
By Anjie

Hushed crowd bears witness to the field,
Two rivals, bound by game.
The Yooyu whistles past my head,
I never saw him aim.
Tandrak's gaze, inferno bright,
Smirk on his lips doth dwell.
The goal is scored, I gaze in shock,
The crowd begins to yell.

Within a team of creatures dark,
He stands out from the pack.
Team colours like a warning gleam,
In purple, red, and black.
Captain of a team so feared,
The master of the throw.
The title brings teams to their knees,
At sight of brutal foe.

No game could be as challenging,
No enemy so sly.
For when Tandrak will launch the ball,
You'll never see it fly.
A shadowed threat, a menace dark,
Form wired to move fast.
You won't see him, just feel the wind,
As Tandrak rushes past.

Elwyn the Gelert's Adventure
By Saqo

Today, dear Neopians, I bring you a story
from the second year of Neopia's glory.
The Gelert Diaries: perhaps you've heard
of this book or read it to your Neopet?

Neopia lists its rarity as: "Common,"
but might I speak more for this volume?
For this is indeed quite a special tale;
this Gelert discovered much in his day.

Our story now begins on the 28th day
in Year 2's month of Storing, we say.
Elwyn the Gelert begins by explaining
that lately he's had a restless feeling.

There had been talk of new wintry lands
in the northern regions of Neopia. Imagine!
An almost undiscovered world waiting to be
found by a Neopet with enough bravery.

In the month of Storing's thirtieth day,
Elwyn the Gelert decided to set sail.
He left alone, what a fantastic feat!
Before dawn he left, adventure to meet.

Elwyn met first, a strange old Nimmo who
regaled him with tales of the place to
which he was headed. Snow quests and Neggs,
and facts of the Snowager now filled his head.

Now we reach the month of Celebrating!
On the very first day, Elwyn set sail;
he took his raft and to Happy Valley
he arrived finally after two more days.

The Advent Calendar greeted him in town,
now one of Neopia's most beloved times.
He received a Negg and was told "Indeed,
every day, here a treat you may receive!"

Elwyn the Gelert spent quite a time
on Terror Mountain, and upon returning
home, he compiled his adventures into
the book I have just described to you!

The lesson from Elwyn, Neopians, is this:
do not be content to live as you see fit!
For there is more to see in our Neopia,
set sail! Get walking! Adventure awaits!

Estranged Gelert
By Lollypopxz

Lonely Gelert trudging along the road,
Head lamps shone on his tattered coat.
Anger and angst his default mode,
Watching the merry bypassing boat.

The world was unforgiving,
The world was dark.
Neopians may dance and Neopians may sing,
But the dreadful loom has made its mark.

He had been seeking utopia,
A land of beauty and perfection.
But all around him was tainted sepia,
Desolation.

Faster and faster,
The Gelert races.
With all the vigour he could muster,
Furiously increased his ascending pace.

As if running will wipe out reality,
Like speed can escape pointed facts.

Futile.

Celandra
By Yumerumenifelheim

Celandra, Fyora's maiden,
Loyal to her faerie best friend.
She's now forgotten by everyone,
And she doesn't care much at all.

People only see a pink Gelert;
I see a true heroine.
Ergo, she just found
The place where many Neopians daily restock.

If it wasn't for her
Who would have remembered that tower up there?
Even now in the ground,
That place still has everything we look for around.

In that tower we all search,
The brushes to paint our pets
Royalty, childhood, darkness, you see,
People love the colours in here...

But let's stop talking about that place,
And focus on this poem's heroine, okay?
She was just cleaning around, doing her job,
And singing her favourite song, of course.

And now, on her species's day,
I want to tell her something I always wanted to say:
Celandra, maiden of loyalty and love,
Your actions shall never be forgotten anymore.

Giddy About Gelert Day
By Hiasaki

Bouncing, skipping, and frolicking,
the Gelert runs through the grass.
He is playing in the rolling fields
and he is running very, very fast.

Today is very exciting for him,
because it is Gelert day after all.
So all of the Gelerts are gathered,
the big and even the small.

Some baby Gelerts are jumping,
some mutants are rolling their eyes.
Even the grey Gelerts are cheering,
'cause their owners got them a surprise.

Fireworks boom from all around,
lighting the night up bright.
And everyone is smiling
as their owners hold them tight.

In Neopia every pet is loved,
but today is the Gelert's alone.
Celebrate their love and cheer
by taking a rainbow one home.

The Most Steadfast of Pets
By Uberdancingdolphin

Amaze me, my Neopets,
With your flight,
Your glide,
The way you slip through
The strongest of tides.
But the one I love most,
The most handsome and brave,
Lacks each of these attributes,
But gains something anyway.
For the one I love most
Does not try to impress,
He tries to be loyal,
Tries to do his very best.
My best friend forever,
The most steadfast of pets,
The Gelert,
His heart has no limits.

Gelerts' Lullaby
By Mayfloziarea

When the sun sets,
When the day fades,
When the clouds vanish,
When the stars appear.

When the moon creeps in,
When the night wakes,
When the land is silent,
When the world sleeps.

My dear baby Gelert,
Close your eyes.
Shut the sleepy eyelids
And dream.

My sweet little one,
May you sleep soundly.
No nightmares shall haunt you, so
Sleep, my dear, sleep.
