Jetsam Day Memo

The Jetsam Publicity Association has published the following memo:

Look-

Every pet has its own strengths
But we've come here to say:
When it comes to aquatics
Jetsams will win every day.

I mean, I know Kikos are cute
And Koi have lovely fins
But challenge them to walk on land
And Jetsams always win.

And oh! Don't talk about Flotsams
And their unjust "attack"-
We all know in a Jetsam's shoes
We'd go for such a snack.

Now I like Peophins the same
As anybody might
But they could never hold their own
'gainst Jetsams in a fight.

Quiggles? Hah, I'm giggling
They don't even have tails!
And Nimmos are just Quiggles with
Legs long enough to flail.

And sure, a Krawk is known to swim,
And Lutari can dive,
But unlike Jetsams, they need air
To keep themselves alive.

No, it is clear from tooth to tail,
Which sea pet takes the crown.
(And if you doubt it Jetsam Ace
Will gladly shoot you down.)

So let's not squabble, everyone,
On this here Jetsam Day,
But celebrate the greatest pet!

The Great Jetsam Goalkeeper

There lives a Jetsam who is very strong.
He and his teammates do get along.

He is Reshar Collifey and has great hands.
They help him get several fans.

Although he is large, he is super quick,
At blocking goals cause he knows the trick.

Darigan Citadel is where his loyalty lies.
He helps his team no matter their size.

He’s not as experienced as the rest.
That doesn’t stop him from giving his best.

So when you're at the next Altador Cup,
Look for Collifey probably causing a muck!

The Jetsam Lunch Lady

If you go to the cafeteria there is one gal you’ll be sure to see there
It is the kind Jetsam Lunch Lady serving up traditional fare
Her shirt is blue with a white apron skirt
It has a small stain from yesterday’s dessert

White hair is tightly covered with a floppy chef’s hat
It looks dapper, but after a long day it makes her hair flat
Below, her fins are covered with comfortable white shoes 
She stands for hours waiting for Neopets to choose

On her hands are blue rubber gloves
It is the one part of her uniform she doesn’t love
However, it is a must for food safety
Per the Neopian Health Department decree

Today on her spoon is a red mystery meat
Some pets consider it a Gourmet Treat
Finer than the fare of the Golden Dubloon
More prized than the Battle Boons

Take just a bite and you’ll agree
It goes great with potatoes and a few peas

Jetsam Royalty

Below the depths of the sea,
In Maraquan high society,
Here we find Jetsam Royalty,
Our regal lord and lady.

Teal and turquoise from fin to tail,
Gilded with golden details,
With a matching engraved trident pair,
Much like them, fearless and fair.

Atop his head, a royal crown,
Aquamarine studded all around,
Ruler of this sea kingdom,
Oceans of history, his wisdom.

His robe, twined with a golden band,
Of roaring white waves crashing on sand,
And the brilliant deepest ocean blue,
With cuffed fins of priceless hue.

Her flowing locks that enamour,
Pinned by a graceful tiara,
Of spun spiral shells and tail decor,
Complete her ocean splendour.

Gown of ruffled currents gleam,
A shimmering surface sheen,
Swept by a cloak of sunlit dream,
Sea meets land, her diplomacy.

By fin and tail their rule is fair,
From depths below to the ocean air,
Brilliant, just and mighty,
Is the age of Jetsam Royalty.

Pick the Jetsam on Jetsam Day!

Fierce, mighty, and strong,
Powerful, aquatic pets,
How could you go wrong?

Behold the Jetsam!
A ferocious protector
(and big snacker too).

Scary? Of course not!
(Unless you are very small.)
Those eyebrows fool all!

Have you seen their hues?
Biscuit, Christmas, and Candy,
Faerie, and Plushie,

How would anyone
Find them alarming?
They are so charming!

You can even see,
Rainbow, Desert, Disco (yes!)
And some Royalty!

And there’s Spectre too!
Beware his abilities,
A challenge, it’s true.

So maybe you should
Consider the fine swimmers,
Of Maraqua’s seas.

A reputable,
Warrior of the ocean:
Admirable fish!

Polka Dot Jetsams: Dangerous, Yet Colourful

The Polka Dotted Jetsams are
Impressive. Travel near and far,
Yet you will find no finer fish.
To see this beauty you will wish!

The fins are coloured blue of skies
In altitudes so very high.
The body, white, is covered in
A bunch of dots which make me grin.

From pink to green to navy blue,
I absolutely love these hues.
The eyes, a red and yellow glare,
Are quite a strong and fiery stare.

So, if you seek a splendid pet,
You'll love this dotted fish, I'll bet!
The hues are without parallel---
They suit the Jetsam very well.

Major Blackfin

Few people know Major Blackfin,
But they all know Jetsam Ace.
It’s the same ‘pet with a different name;
Different heart, but same old face.

Blackfin is what they called him
When he worked for Dr. Sloth,
Flying sorties on the Grundos
In surging fits of wrath.

A traitor to his own kind,
He shunned the water for the stars
To fight in endless battles,
Both near to home and far.

But as the war raged on,
And the horrors piled up,
The ties he’d built with Dr. Sloth
Inevitably were cut.

He apologized to the Space Faerie
And joined the side of light,
And after a hard-fought battle,
He finally made things right.

He helped defeat his former master--
An act that earned him great acclaim.
But though he saved many lives,
He still felt enormous shame.

He took a job as a trainer, and
Though his emotions were brittle,
Giving nerkmids to his students
Made him feel better, little by little.

In time, Blackfin changed his name,
And became our Jetsam Ace.
Once maligned but now beloved,
He’s the coolest pet in space!

Today is a very special day.
We are celebrating the Jetsam, join if you may.
If you are looking for a cool pet they are one of the best.
The many talents they have will make you impressed.

Jetsams are known to like a fight.
If you befriend one they will treat you right.
They also enjoy going for a swim.
Maybe you will adopt one on a whim?

Jetsams love the water but also don't mind the land,
they can use their rear flippers to stand.
If you give one an aquatic petpet it won't be coming back...
Your Jetsam will eat them for its next snack!

Jetsams can be painted in many great colours,
so if your pet becomes bored it can always choose another.
Won't you adopt a Jetsam as your next pet?
I'm sure it will be a choice you will never regret!

Reshar's Dream

In childlike wonder a Jetsam yearns
For how to shoot goals with perfected turns.
He watches his heroes with steadfast grace,
An enormous grin spreading on his face.

With determination his greatest friend,
He practices daily until the night’s end.
Continuing strong, sweat beads on his brow.
With a goal in mind, there’s no stopping now.

The tryouts are near and as they appear
There’s no time for doubt, no inkling of fear.
A chance to shine in the Darigan sun!
A chance to show them how far he has come.

The crowd cheers with zeal, hopes for his success.
Stunned by his skill, no one dare second guess.
Standing ovation greets him on the field
As the Darigan team’s decision sealed.

“Rookie of the year” they called him back then.
He won this award again and again.
As he looks back on the time that has passed,
He remembers a boy and a dream that would last.
