NeoPet Surprise

So, I walk into Neopia, after signing in, as I was from a different place and was not born in Neopia, like some. I wanted to travel and learn about other people's hobbies and cultures.

Neopia, here I come was my thinking. And I really believed it too. My first day I walked into Pet Central square. There was all sorts to do! I decided I wanted to get one of these companions that most of the people had with them. I asked one of the people where I could find these creatures and she told me that the 'Create a pet centre' was a good place to start.

I walked past the scenery, thinking how beautiful it all was when I stumbled into a forest. I would have returned to the square but I didn’t know how! As I tiptoed through the trees, all the while thinking how much I felt like I was being watched, I tripped and fell over a piece of crumpled paper. Well, I thought, that's one thing similar about this place and my old one, litter! I picked the paper up, about to put it in my knapsack to put in a bin later when I saw some writing on it.

Curious, I straightened it out, it was a map to a secret laboratory! I was amazed until I realised it was not the full map. I folded it carefully and placed it into my sack by the side of where my ham sandwiches were. I thought how incredibly hungry I was and took the sandwiches out. Just as I opened my mouth ready for a giant bite, thousands of bat-like creatures surrounded me and stole my sandwiches. I later found out these were Korbats and some people kept these thieves for pets!

However, back to the story... Anyway, once these creatures had left and I had recovered from the shock, I continued my travels. I saw one person in the woods being taunted by a large creature which looked like it had been through every ugly making device on the planet! I quickly ran to the person’s rescue, and together we made it past.

We separated ways though, as I was not keen for company, however, we made Neofriends, and after these travels, little did I know, I'd be best friends with emily_levine!

When I finally made it out of the dingy woods I kept more to the path. I asked directions for the pet centre and continued in hope of getting a companion.

I finally reached the centre and chose between the many pets. I saw one of the Korbats and it actually looked quite sweet! Maybe only wild ones were bad! I opted for a Meerca, reminded of the Mere cats they had in my world. He was blue and I named him Oz_Wolfsbane. Apparently his statistics were quite good, for a pet at birth that is. Except for his Hitpoints, which were only 7, but he was cheetah in speed, tough in defence and quite strong. He was very friendly too and looked the type that would like reading and learning. I felt safer with him around, even though he was only level 1 and not the strongest NeoPet in town, I fitted in more and people would stare when I had no NeoPet.

Next I was advised to open a bank account with the Royal Neopian. I was placed in the Junior Saver account as I only had 1200 NP so far. The checkout person was actually a NeoPets which surprised me at the time but I guess they need jobs too! The Skeith advised me to put any valuables into my safety deposit box, the map was showing and I could see his shifty eyes peeled waiting for me to make a wrong move so he could claim the map as his own. I quickly put the map into my safety deposit box and hid it while I used my combination.

I walked out of the bank and heard my new companion’s tummy grumbling and although he looked content, he did not look happy. I decided to buy him a whistle, a diary and a yo-yo from the toy store. From the book shop, I bought him The Aisha Book, and Cooking with Neggs. Finally the food store, but as I reached the shop there was nothing there! I had 200 NP to spend on food and no food to spend it on! I quickly traveled to the Shop Wizard and after waiting half an hour in the queue I managed to get to the Jubjub and ask him where I could find cheap food, it was then I was informed I had to know what type of food. How was I supposed to know? A girl behind me said that her pet liked apple juice so I went ahead and asked. The cheapest was 30 NP! For a glass of apple juice! I was outraged but I knew my pet was hungry and needed to eat so I went along and bought it.

In the shop window was an advertisement for a cloud guild so I went along and had a look. I like what I saw and joined. I got a cloud for my shop and applied for a council position, I don’t know if I've got it yet! I'm still waiting. After all, it's only been a day but it sure was a surprise what you can do in Neopia in only a day!
