How the Weewoo came to Krawk Island
Introduction The Weewoo has long been a companion of choice for countless pets around Neopia, particularly those with a penchant for the literary arts. For many of us, it’s the White Weewoo we are most familiar with, owing to its role as the mascot for this very publication. As a result of this, some may be surprised to learn that the unpainted Weewoo is actually a tan colour, and does not hail from Wintery, Faerie, or Medieval lands, but instead can be found exclusively on Krawk Island. And therein lies the mystery central to this article: How is it that the Weewoo came to be on Krawk Island, when its short, round, dense body and tiny wings can surely only lend themselves to flying the shortest of distances, if at all? While nobody knows for certain, the learned scientists and historians at the Neopian Historical Society have settled on three possible explanations, or hypotheses, which I will endeavour to unpack here. Hypothesis #1 – Krawk Island was not always so insular This hypothesis posits that, over time, Krawk Island has drifted away from other continents, (or become disconnected from other land through the submersion of an ancient land bridge). Weewoos wouldn’t have needed to fly long distances to reach Krawk Island in this scenario – they could simply have walked. Then, when Krawk Island became insular, they were trapped on the island, where they remain to this day. Hypothesis #1 accepts that Neopian continents are capable of drifting gradually over time. The geothermal activity evident during a...

 | Sip, Sip, Hooray! Let’s Get the Garden Party Started
The long, cold days are finally coming to a close! Dragonfly Nymphs are beginning to buzz around, the air smells sweeter, and Neopians everywhere seem to have a spring in their step. Spring can only mean one thing - winter is outta here! You can put down the peppermint, cast aside the borovan, and say goodbye to the chai. I have some lovely drink suggestions for the this season that will get you ready to come out of hibernation. The winter months are long, dark and never-ending. We’re ready for cheerful Cherry Blossoms and budding Blue Fan Flowers. So, put away the mittens and scarves, and break out the rain boots and umbrellas! There’s nothing better than stepping out into the sunshine (or sun showers!) with something delicious to sip on while you stroll through the park! Here is a list of my favourite Neopian drinks to enjoy in the springtime:
1). Banango Bubble Tea - Gadgadsbogen is here! We cannot get enough of the Banango Bubble tea! This is a favourite straight from Mystery Island (if you couldn’t tell). Fruity and smooth, complete with the signature tapioca pearls, this gorgeous beverage is a joy to drink.
2). Pomegranate Iced Tea - Super refreshing! Made with real pomegranates, this iced tea is a springtime classic around Neopia. Sure, we could have a regular Lemon Iced Tea, but the pomegranate element elevates this drink to another level. |

"Prizes for the Neopies" by ningkov1 Ellsworth the Elephante carefully combed and oiled his golden locks before heading out. He took one last look at himself in the mirror and smiled at the sight of his crisp suit and shiny shoes. Not a single thing was out of place. The Neopies had just started, and he was busier than ever preparing for it every day; but that didn't mean he couldn't look nice. As the face of the Neopies, he prided himself on his dashing looks and entertaining personality. A cold rush of air surrounded him as he opened his door and began a new day. The dapper Elephant walked happily through the streets of Neopia, thinking of all the ways to make this year's gala even better than before. This was the 13th one already! “My, how time flies,” Ellsworth whispered to himself. He thought about all the awards handed out over the previous years, and while lost in his reverie almost passed the place he was heading to. “Ah, here it is!” Ellsworth entered the Post Office, ready to pick up the prizes for the next round of voting. |
"The Jungles of Mystery Island" by kadface Deep in the jungles of Mystery Island, the canopy blots the sun from the sky and casts a green light that filters to the vine-covered ground. Strange chirps and squeaks echo through the thick air, which tastes heavy to the tongue. Twigs snap, leaves rustle and Tarak the Kyrii is unable shake the unnerving feeling that he isn’t alone. Tarak is squatting on his haunches, surveying the jungle scene before him with an appraising eye. He has taken his rucksack off, but can feel the sweat it has left behind soaking the back of his shirt. Perspiration beads his forehead as he drinks deep from a canteen. Although the drink is refreshing, the cloying water held in the air clings to him like a second skin. He carefully screws the lid back into place. Before him, Tarak is able to see the tell-tale traces of another’s passage. A bent stem here. A crushed leaf there. Holes in the foliage, where no holes should be. He hoists his rucksack back over his shoulders, firmly clipping its straps into place. Cautiously he moves forward... |
"A Hero's Journey: Dinner for Four" by precious_katuch14 “STILL HUNGRY!” The Esophagor reared up and swiped a large claw that snagged on the robe of a fleeing Blue Acara. She screamed and tried to pull away, threads coming away tangled in sharp rocky fingers, before brandishing a wand and screaming an incantation. Unfortunately for Mipsy, the jet of shimmering flames simply glanced off the back of the Esophagor’s hand, and he glared at her with intense red eyes, baring his jagged fangs; a woven pack still dangled from one fang, a breath away from falling into his throat. But fortunately for her, while a Red Techo blasted a thick, crackling and sparkling mist into the monster’s face, a White Blumaroo grabbed her other wrist and dragged her forward, her shoes slipping in the muck and mud of the Goo Bog. “Thanks, Rohane.” Rohane did not answer as he ran past bare trees and slimy swamp without looking back, his gauntleted fingers closed tightly on the Acara’s wrist. A Green Eyrie flew ahead of them and pointed to a cave... |
