Dressing up like Faerie Royalty

by lunafaeire

--------

Customising pets is one of the more popular activities you can do on the site, and is in fact, one of my favourite things to do. From Neopoint to Neocash, there is an endless list of wearables you can use to dress up your pets and make them uniquely yours.

Whether you choose to throw a bunch of random clothes on your pets or if your outfits are well-thought-out and themed to holidays, customising pets is a great way to get creative.

This article will be split into two parts - the first part of the article will look at the basic differences between Neopoint and Neocash items, while the second part of the article will focus on wearables that centre around the theme of "faerie royalty" in hopes of inspiring you to dress up your pets to celebrate the faerie queen on her special day. Let's get into it!

     ***

PART 1: Basic differences between Neopoint and Neocash wearables

Before we get into dressing up our pets, we first need to be able to identify which items are actually wearable, and we need to know the different types of wearables that are available on the site. The two main categories are "Neopoint wearables" and "Neocash wearables". Regardless of whether the item is in Neopoint or Neocash, all wearable items that you can actually put into your closet and onto your pet, will have an icon of a clothes hanger on the bottom left-hand corner of the item image.

As the name suggests, Neopoint wearables are items that you can buy with Neopoints around the site (including user shops via the shop wiz, Neopets shops such as Uni's Clothing Shop at Neopian Bazaar, and the trading post and auction house). An important thing to note with Neopoint wearables is that some items are species OR colour specific. You can usually tell whether an item is species or colour specified by the item name. For example, Draik King Terask Wings are only wearable to Draiks, and no other Neopet species would be able to wear them, and Baby Cloud Hat is only wearable by pets painted the colour "Baby".

On the other hand, Neocash wearables are items that you can purchase from the NC mall using Neocash (which costs real money). Retired Neocash wearables can no longer be bought from the NC mall, but they can be obtained by trading. It is also important to note that Neocash items can only be traded with other Neocash items. Neocash wearables are not usually species-specific but they can be colour specific. Again, you can determine if an item is colour specified by the item name. For example, Baby Cloud Wings can only be worn by baby pets.

Now that we know the basics of customising pets and the general differences between Neopoint and Neocash wearables, let's dive into Part 2 of the article where we look at some of the clothing pieces we have relating to the faerie queen.

      PART 2: Faerie royalty fashion

The following list includes both Neopoint and Neocash wearables and will be indicated next to the item name for your reference. The items listed will be general wearables that are neither species nor colour specific, so as long as your Neopet is not Maraquan, Mutant, or Baby, they will be able to wear them. Since it is impossible to list ALL the Fyora-inspired wearables here, I am only including my all-time favourites!

      1. Fyora Inspired Wig and Hat (Neocash)

This is truly a wig inspired by the faerie queen herself. It doesn't scream "FYORA!!!!" but it gives off a subtle faerie queen vibe. I personally like this wig in more casual outfits but it can also be used in a formal look if paired with the right background and dress.

     2. Ombre Fyora Wig (Neopoint)

This dreamy braid has a really pretty combination of colours with little flowers coiled into it. It is a pretty expensive wig, but it is a must-have closet staple for me. I like to use this wig for whimsical outfits paired with outdoorsy backgrounds. Similar to Fyora Inspired Wig and Hat, it gives off a subtle faerie queen vibe which I like.

      1. Fyoras Collectors Dress (Neocash)

This casual flowy dress can be dressed up or down, which makes it a great closet staple. I love using this dress as a nightgown but that's just me!

     2. Heart Print Dress (Neopoint)

This isn't a dress inspired by Fyora, but I find it to be a pretty dress that could go well with Fyora-inspired outfits if paired with the right wig and accessories. Similar to Ombre Fyora Wig, it is a pricey piece but worth the pretty penny, in my opinion.

     1. Fyoras Eyeshadow (Neopoint)

An affordable item that could act as a finishing touch to any Fyora-inspired outfit!

     2. Fyoras Vicennial Celebration Crown (Neopoint)

This is a relatively affordable piece if you want to celebrate the faerie queen in style.

     3. Fyoras Arm Wraps (Neopoint)

Another affordable item that works great with long-limbed Neopets.

     4. Faerie Queen Wings (Neopoint)

A faerie look wouldn't be complete without a pair of wings to tie the outfit together. This is a great pair of wings for those looking to emanate the faerie queen vibe.

     5. Translucent Faerie Wings (Neopoint)

A great alternative to Faerie Queen Wings if budget is of concern. Does the job and looks great with any outfit!

     6. Fyora Collectors Staff (Neocash)

A staff is a great item to add to an outfit if you're looking for a mystical vibe!

     1. Fyoras Balcony (Neopoint)

A relatively simple background but looks great in any Fyora-inspired outfit. Paired with a suitable garland, your pet could really look like they're celebrating Fyora Day right on Fyora's balcony.

     2. Fyoras Room Background (Neopoint)

This is another simple background if you wanted an indoor look for your pet. Perhaps your pet could be watching the Fyora Day celebration on TV in the comfort of their home?

     3. MME26-S5a: Fyoras Secret Escape BG (Neocash)

If a whimsical overall look is more your style, this is the perfect background for your Fyora Day outfit. Paired with the Ombre Fyora Wig and Fyoras Collectors Dress, your pet could really look like a faerie in the woods. *heart eyes*

     ***

There are a lot more wearables that you could use to create your Fyora Day outfits but these were just some of my own personal favourites for the occasion. Hopefully, this article has inspired you to start customising your pets (if you don't already!), or inspired your next runway look. Most importantly, have fun dressing up your pets however you want!

Happy Fyora Day to everyone :)
