The Latest Fyora Gossip

by black_skull725

--------

Hello, my name is Crow. I am a Faerie Draik who used to work in Meridell Castle. Due to some unforeseen circumstances with King Skarl’s mood though, I moved to a job in the Faerie Castle, working for Queen Fyora. Officially, I’m a guard, but sometimes Queen Fyora has other things in mind for me to help with. Anyways, working for Fyora comes with a lot of perks: a fancy room in the castle, fancy gourmet food all the time, guaranteed vacation days, spa treatments, and well, simply being able to enjoy some time with the queen!

However, lately, there’s been a lot of rumours and gossip swirling around about Queen Fyora. Some folks have quite strange misconceptions about the Faerie Queen, despite having never met her. Some of them are even about her eating and sleeping habits which I could have sworn was off-limits gossip just a few years ago… ugh Faerielanders these days… I mean did I say that out loud? Anyways, on this Fyora Day, I have come to the rescue, to tell the truth about Queen Fyora and dispel some of the more interesting rumours and gossip about the queen. Let’s dive right in!

      1. Queen Fyora doesn’t care much for titles and formalities. TRUE

You’ve probably heard Fyora just say “Call me Fyora.” Unlike most other Neopian rulers, Queen Fyora doesn’t really like to be addressed as “your Majesty” or some other formal title. You won’t get in trouble for addressing her that way, but she really prefers that you talk to her like a friend and less like she’s a member of royalty. She says doing so helps her to have a real conversation with someone. However, only those closest to her have the privilege of calling her by her nickname, Fifi. You might end up summoning a different side of Fyora at that point.

      2. Bad hair days are forbidden in the Faerie Castle. PARTIALLY TRUE

Queen Fyora cares deeply about her hair, going to great lengths to perfect her magic hairspray which usually cures some of the worst hair mishaps. She doesn’t expect perfection from those that work for her or castle guests. However, a really bad hair day will get her attention, and she’ll want to take care of it for you. At this point, it’s best to just allow her to fix your hair for you, which usually involves a couple of sprays of Fyora’s Magic Airspray. And before you ask, Fyora can tell the difference between a new hairstyle and bad hair. Someone attempted the “I’m just trying a new hairstyle” excuse which led to Queen Fyora asking more questions about the hairstyle which they were unable to answer.

      3. Queen Fyora never sleeps. FALSE

It is true that faeries need less sleep than Neopets. However, not sleeping at all will eventually deplete a faerie’s magical powers. Thus, they do get plenty of shut-eye when needed. Queen Fyora is no exception to this rule. Of course, she does not sleep as much as Psellia, the Dreamer. There are days when she doesn’t sleep at all and instead floats around the castle at night, assisting the night guards in patrolling the castle for suspicious activities, at least that’s what she claims to be doing. There are other rumours that she might be dabbling in dark magic, but there has been no evidence of this. Totally none! Anyways, all this talk about sleep has me yawning so perhaps we should just leave that topic here?

      4. Queen Fyora is a mind reader. FALSE

Some individuals have claimed that Queen Fyora read their minds, and she used that ability to thwart their nefarious plots to steal from the Hidden Tower or cause mischief in the Faerieland Academy. Perhaps some of her staff also believe this as well, and to be honest, I used to believe this too. Fyora can sometimes give you this piercing gaze that feels as if she’s looking into your thoughts. Rest assured though; this is just her wisdom in situations. Fyora’s lived very long and seen almost everything. This has allowed her to have very accurate hunches. Rest assured though, she’s just a good guesser. Your thoughts are protected. I’m certain she doesn’t even know I’m writing this article about her!

      5. Queen Fyora uses Hidden Tower proceeds to fuel a burrito craze. FALSE

Queen Fyora loves burritos, this part is true. However, she would also have to eat a lot of them for it to require her to spend Hidden Tower money. However, it’s not uncommon for her to have a breakfast burrito and then a Faerie Queen Burrito for lunch when she’s in a hurry. However, for dinner, she prefers to eat with Celandra and Aethia from the finest faerie foods prepared by the castle chefs. After all, she doesn’t just like burritos! She’s also a huge fan of Raspberry Faerie Crêpes and a Heavenly Roast Turkey.

      6. Queen Fyora is very rich. PARTIALLY TRUE

It’s not a secret that Fyora does have a more lavish lifestyle than many Neopians. Between her secret spa, beauty salon, and servants working for her, it would be accurate to call her privileged. However, among Neopian royalty, her wealth appears quite modest. As mentioned earlier, she takes only a three-percent cut of all the Hidden Tower sales, directing most of the funds into the Faerieland Treasury instead. She doesn’t take a salary either, as the proceeds from the tower would be more than enough for her to enjoy the finer things of Neopia. Her wardrobe is quite simple, pretty much the same dress across the board. She does own quite a bit of shares in Faerie Clothing, Ltd. though which might be some hidden wealth. However, much of that wealth flows into various organizations across Neopia through generous donations. For example, she helps the Neopian Pound with funding to care for orphaned pets. She also partially funds the Defenders of Neopia in their quest for justice. And of course, she helps keep the Faerieland Employment Agency fully staffed so Neopians can find jobs and earn some much-needed Neopoints. After all that, Queen Fyora is generally left with 200k NP every year for herself.

      7. Queen Fyora wears the exact same dress every day. FALSE

It may look like the same dress every day, but I can assure you that she just has multiple of the same dress and puts on a clean one each day! Now why would anyone think she only has a single dress? Did the Dark Faerie Sisters start this rumour? It was Vanity wasn’t it?!

      8. Queen Fyora is close friends with Lord Darigan. TRUE

It’s no surprise after the wars between Meridell and Darigan Citadel, Faerieland came to the aid of their fellow sky-dwelling realm. However, the friendship between Fyora and Lord Darigan began much earlier when the two first met for a diplomatic summit. It was there that Queen Fyora discussed matters between their two realms and found that they both had similar philosophies when it came to governing their people. It also helped that Aethia and Galgarroth also struck up a friendship after a brief sparring session out in the Faerie Castle courtyard. After the curse, Fyora tried to research the magic necessary to restore the Darigani to their pre-curse appearance, but with little success. Lord Darigan appreciated the efforts but told Fyora not to spend too much time on it, knowing that she had her own people to care for. After Faerieland fell, the Darigani helped some faeries who preferred the skies resettle into Darigan Citadel. They also helped rebuild Faerieland by providing volunteers to assist with reconstructing and stabilizing buildings. The two continue to exchange letters often and genuinely care for each other.

      9. Queen Fyora is a dream boss. TRUE

Well, as one of her guards, I have a biased opinion. But I’ve also had the experience working for King Skarl who is definitely not a dream boss, always demanding chicken legs. Anyways, working for Fyora has been a dream come true. As a boss, she’s genuinely concerned about the well-being of her staff and tries to speak to each of them personally several times each month. She also allows them plenty of time for rest and vacation. And of course, all the perks and amenities in the castle are fair game for her staff. Now, Fyora’s not perfect. Occasionally, she might not want to take “no” for an answer which can come across as stubborn. She’s doing her best to work on that though and has apologized on numerous occasions and made amends when that happens, like that one time she demanded Luxinia build a Neolodge in New Faerieland a certain way, and then backtracked with an apology after Varia reminded her that she gave Luxinia permission to build things however she wanted.

      10. Queen Fyora is actually Faerie Queen. TRUE… I think.

This one is a new rumor, that Queen Fyora wasn’t actually the Faerie Queen. Instead, folks claim that she simply dressed up like a queen and nobody questioned her when she sat on the throne. Now, this rumor sounds quite ridiculous right off the bat. First of all, we have confirmation from Calabrus the Fyora was the queen, and she gave her gift directly to her to build the original Faerieland! Second of all, nobody knows any other queen before Fyora, not even the folks who started this rumor. Third of all, Queen Fyora clearly knows how to be a queen and had she been a fake queen, we’d see right through it. Now can we put this one to rest now?

So, there you have it, on this Fyora Day, you now know more about Queen Fyora. Hopefully this puts some of the more ridiculous rumors to rest and clears up other confusion about the queen. Now if you’ll excuse me, since it’s Fyora Day, I will sneak a slice of Fyora Day Cake before the other guards get there first. Catch you all later! Happy Fyora Day!
