Quote of the Week

"A cooling breeze blew in from over the turquoise seas that lapped against the meandering Altadorian shoreline, a refreshing gift from beyond the horizon to the thousands of recently arrived visitors that crowded the paved streets around the realm's bustling Colosseum."

10 Tips for Choosing an Altador Cup Team

Summer is here, and that means it's almost time for Neopia's most popular sporting event, the Altador Cup! But, whether you’re new to the event or looking for a change from last year, you may be having trouble picking which team to support. Read on, because I'll be giving you my top 10 tips on how to figure out which team is right for you! 1. Follow your friends. A good group of Neofriends make pretty much any aspect of Neopets better, and the Altador Cup is no different. One of the most fun parts of the Altador Cup is comparing strategies and encouraging each other to play your best, so consider asking your Neofriends or guildmates which teams they're supporting, so you can all play together! If none of you have a team picked out, try going through the rest of this list and pick out a team you’ll all be excited to support. 2. Make some new friends on the Neoboards. Instead of joining a team with your current Neofriends, you can also take the opportunity to make some new ones! Most, if not all, of the Altador Cup teams have a community on the Site Events Neoboard. Poke your head in a board or two, and see if any of them seem like a place you'd like to hang out during the Cup! 3. Pick a team from a favourite Neopian land. Each team corresponds to a land of Neopia, representing it in this worldwide competition. Perhaps you have a soft spot for Sahkmet Solitaire and choose to play for The Lost Desert team, or your love of Chombies makes you choose to root for Team Tyrannia. Perhaps you've lost too much money on the Wheel of Misfortune lately and can cross Team Haunted Woods off your list. Whatever your reason for loving a Neopian land, supporting their Altador Cup team is a great way to support the land!

Fun Things To Do Around Mystery Island

In the midst of a harrowing plot, I think everyone in Neopia needs something fun to do right now, right? So come with me and let’s trade those bleak and dreary greys for a vibrant world of colours on Mystery Island! Yes folks, I’m going to be taking you to my favourite Neopian land and showing you all of the fun things you can do to ease your mind while you’re there. From games to food, they’ve got it all! Whether it’s for just a day or a long vacation, Mystery Island is sure to keep you entertained and in good spirits. 1. Tiki Tours Sure, I can tell you all about how fun Mystery Island is, but you’re going to need to see its beauty for yourself if you really want to get the full experience! My first recommended stop for every guest is the Tiki Tours. Hop on in a bamboo carriage and a friendly Coconut JubJub will take you all around the Island, showing you every sight and explaining the rich history behind it all. Every land has its folklore, and there’s no one better to tell you all about it than a local. For no more than just a handful of Neopoints, you can get a quick dose of the authentic Mystery Island experience before you jump in and visit any specific spots. Don’t forget to tip your guide! 2. Tropical Foods Have you ever heard of a Blobbule? Or how about a Larfle? Those aren’t just silly, made-up names, they’re real fruits native to Mystery Island! If all of that Tiki Touring has worked up your appetite, head on down to the Tropical Foods shop where a friendly Techo shopkeeper will tell you about where every fruit or other delicacy comes from on the Island. Then, you can either enjoy it right there at a nice patio outside the shop, or you can take it with you to go as you continue on your Mystery Island adventure. Looking for a recommendation from...

"Bernard and The Void" by rachu816
With a sigh, Bernard shut his worn copy of The Green Grundo Invasion and glanced over to the small clock that he had sitting on his countertop. His eight-minute break from running Booktastic Books was just about up and he hadn’t put out the new books for his awaiting customers yet. The Orange Grundo moseyed out from behind the desk, grabbing a stack of space books as he made his way to one of his storefront tables. Quickly scanning the titles on the books’ spines, he began arranging them into orderly piles, some towering with many copies and some with only a few. He ended up with a single copy of Stuck in Space left in his orange, four-fingered mitts. It was a very popular nonfiction book about stranded-in-space survival tactics, all coming from various true stories. Casually flipping through the pages, Bernard felt a slight pang in his chest as his eyes skimmed over the various stories and he felt as if he could somewhat relate. For, Bernard lived up in space on Kreludor, Neopia’s one-and-only moon. He loved his collection of space books to keep him company, even the book club he founded to help boost his sales, but the day-to-day had become mundane...

"The Infestation" by spukl1
Barney the Blue Blumaroo woke up with the sun and looked out his window to see the sailboats bobbing in the Neopian Sea. Life on Roo Island was peaceful, it was the happiest place in Neopia – a true utopia. He patted his Noil, Nigel, who stirred still clutching onto the last minutes of sleep. As Barney put on his uniform, he thought about how lucky he was to have a job he loved. He and Nigel worked at the Games Room and every day was a new adventure – bright lights, fun music and happy Neopians getting prizes. Plus, everything on Roo Island was a well-oiled machine, they were to expect the expected and stick to the status quo, which he appreciated… It made life easy. The pair skipped quietly out of their Neohome. It was a beautiful spring day; the sun was shining and the Draphlys were fluttering in the breeze. Roo Island was always the prettiest this time of year, the rolling green foliage was quite the sight to see. They circumnavigated the Merry Go Round which was just creaking to life with its first customers and crossed the bridge, peeking down into the river for any Goldies that may have come to visit. Nigel chased a Mortog into the centre square.

"A Helping Hand" by 77thbigby
I wiped the sweat from my brow, eyes sweeping across the field. It was haying season and we’d done some good work, evidenced by the haystacks scattered across the field. We had more work ahead of us, but we were making progress. For today, at least, it was quitting time. It was then that my eyes caught on something black sticking out of one of the haystacks. “I’m going to check something out in the stacks. I’ll be back,” I told Ernest, one of my fellow workers. The Chia waved a hand to show he’d heard, and I strode off across the field, Elfie, my Christmas Mazzew, keeping pace beside me. As I drew closer, I could make out the shape of a hoof. I raised my eyebrows at this. Soon enough, I rounded the haystack and came to a surprised stop as I took in the figure before me. I at first took it for a scarecrow but then I saw the figure breathe. Having been raised in the Meridell countryside, I was familiar with scarecrows, but I had no idea how one could be alive. For indeed, it was an Ixi made of burlap, and he was sound asleep in the haystack. Whoever and whatever he was, he was clearly in a bad way. His burlap was worn and dirty, straw poking out of tears and along his seams.
