Quote of the Week

The Sakhmet scenery rushed past Fargon’s face, turning into a sand-colored blur as he chased the Ogrin thief. Fargon, not possessing half as much agility as Meegla, found himself stubbing his toe on the corners of food stalls, tripping over wandering Gebs, and generally unable to run for long without failing in some manner. Luckily for him, the Ogrin he was pursuing was not much better. He wasn’t a terribly fast runner to begin with, and he, too, had his fair share of stumbles. In fact, Fargon was so close to catching him at one point that, with all the strength his twiggy limbs could muster, the Ogrin threw a wheelbarrow of Tchea fruit over into the street to block Fargon’s pursuit.

"Humbug and the Symol Hole" by catytha_love_paz
It was just another normal day for Humbug, the blue Noil. The normal routine consisted of getting up at the crack of dawn to go fishing with Nappox, do a few quests for Edna, and then continue on with his day. However, today seemed a little different. "Good morning, little buddy! We have a big day ahead of us. I have a surprise for you later on," Nappox said as she leaned down to scratch a spot behind his ear. He was slightly disgruntled by the sound of that, seeing as how Nappox's surprises were usually never that pleasant for him, although he couldn't help his leg from starting to twitch at the scratches. He bobbed his head against her hand and followed her slowly out the door, wondering what this so called "surprise" was going to be. They continued on with their usual activities, and he started to wonder if she had forgotten about it altogether.

"The Korbats in the Pumpkin Patch" by jade_ceres
Asmundar was a clever little Eyrie, but there was one thing that he just couldn’t figure out tonight, and it had been bugging him and bugging him. He couldn’t get the Korbat face on his pumpkin just right. He had spent hours and hours using his claw on every pumpkin in his owner’s pumpkin patch, but he was a perfectionist and something just wasn’t right. There was pieces of carved pumpkin stuck under his claws and he was beginning to get frustrated. He had been wanting to win his neighbourhood’s pumpkin carving contest for years and years, but he would never win with one of these lifeless-looking drawings he’d just done. There was a Xweetok who always won every year and always looked so smug afterward and he just had to beat him this year. He had to. As he was finishing up his newest non-masterpiece, deciding to give up because the wings weren’t right, just like the tail wasn’t right on the last one and the teeth on the one before that, a Korbat happened to fly by, his wings flashing fast in the sky.

"All That Jazz" by azienskieth
Brian was disappointed. His neighborhood's Weewoo had not yet delivered the day's Neopian Times issue, twenty minutes after he usually came. Brian had wanted to get a jump on the day, but he couldn't if he was waiting on the post carrier. At last, ten minutes later, a large collection of papers entered the newspaper slot below the kitchen window. Atop the headline was a note, which said, "Sorry for the delay. We're training a new Weewoo, and he doesn't know the route yet." Brian discarded the note and took his newspaper to the table. While he sipped his coffee, he read all of the latest news, and when he was done with that he flipped to the classified section. Every Saturday, he perused the classifieds for one reason, and one reason only: ever since he was a young Elephante, he had wanted to join a band. He had bought and learned to play a saxophone, and he was quite good at it too. He looked in the classifieds for wanted ads about bands, but though he had been doing this for several months and had met with a dozen different bands, they all had the same thing to say: "No, thanks." They weren't interested in saxophones, they wanted guitars and drummers and singers. He wouldn't stop looking, though. He was sure he would eventually find someone to recruit him.

Mr. Aramate's Wonderous Emporium of the Soul: Part Three
Old Annie ate her supper in front of the neovision set every evening. One of her granddaughters came round to make it for her, that night it was Valerie. She was a good, dutiful girl in her mid-twenties. Once Annie had finished her meal Valerie cleaned the dishes and then said goodnight. The younger Cybunny kissed the elder lightly on the forehead and then was away into the night.
