I was visiting a Neopian farm one day,
When I heard the farmer say,
“I’ve got a lovely bunch of Kaus here,
Recognize them with their large ears!”

“Fantastic friends they are,
And in herds they roam far.
Their horns you shouldn’t fear,
Unless you equip them with gear!” 

“They own a great long tail,
Swatting away flies, it never fails!
Their eyes are large and bright,
Kaus love everybody with all their might!”

“During their free time they like to laugh! 
Running in fields like a newborn calf.
Yet their greatest passion is to sing,
What can I say? It’s totally their thing!” 

“A famous Kau, player of the game Cheat,
With the name Kalora you should meet. 
Or famous Kauvara with her magic shop,
Always happy to greet when people stop!”

“Introduced in the year two,
No pet or Neopian had a clue.
Twenty years later it's my pleasure to say,
Everybody have a fantastic Kau day!” 

Smiling from ear to ear,
The Kaus were around me near. 
I left the farm that night,
With a new Kau friend in sight.

It's always crowded for the sales,
and in there there's a lot of tales.

The Starry Kau inside always had a mission,
she dreamed as a child to be a magician.
When the time came for her to take over,
Kauvara gave the shop a once-over.

She's now the greatest potion master,
and sells goods for any Neopian caster.
In the store there's all kinds of potions,
to make any pet feels all kinds of emotions.

She could turn your Kacheek into a Draik,
if you're feeling too blue you can give it a break.
Morph into something like striped or plush,
you don't even need to find a paint brush!

At the end of the day Kauvara's made a name.
She even made it into a popular Neopian game,
She pits her Cobrall against other petpets,
Maybe that's how she gets all her magic assets?

Holidays with Kalora

Shiny hooves that go clip-clop,
She twirls and pirouettes, then comes to a stop.
Green visor sits pretty upon her brow,
She's none other than Kalora the Kau!

Journeying along the Neopian lands,
Posing perfectly on the desert sands;
Kalora loves her holidays for sure,
She's forever looking for adventure!

Sometimes, as her mood is willing
She joins a game of Cheat! to earn a killing;
Don't be fooled by her adorable face,
She will beat you with such a fearsome grace!

Kalora the Kau does have her pride,
Thinks she is the prettiest Neopet alive;
Once upon a time she tried to steal a tiara,
From Princess Fernypoo the Acara!

But alas, never did she get to wear,
The lovely tiara of a princess so fair.
Kalora decided that her visor is far better,
At least it protects her eyes from the weather!

So my friend, if you happen to chance
Upon Kalora performing her favourite dance;
Pay her a little compliment or two
And I am sure she will surprise you!

Kau: The Misunderstood

It's time for them to take a bow,

Their joyous nature hides the truth,

In fields, no roaming, against their will.
But doubting them, that is your flaw,
Their intelligence growing forevermore.

For one should think when you see one graze,
And look beyond the vacant gaze.
And remember one thing about this breed,
They will up-rise they will succeed.

A plan is there, their restitution,
Patient in their execution.
Uprising slowly will be the goal,
And bring the species, together, whole.

Remember, I have warned you so,
Laugh at will then turn and go,
But heed my words, this script you should
For the Kau is mighty: Misunderstood.

Kau Defender

A part of the brave Kau species,
she’s ready to defend by any means.
Wearing a yellow and green suit,
this hero can challenge any brute.

She is known as the Kau hero,
and her losses against evil are zero. 
A part of the superhero group so brave,
there's not a pet that she will not save.

Villains tremble when she's nearby,
it is something they cannot deny.
While she's not a typical defender,
criminals know he doesn't surrender.

All of Neopia talk of her bravery
when she's up against the unsavoury.
A Kau, a superhero, so full of splendour, 
she is Defender of Neopia’s Kau Defender!

My Self is More Than my Mutation

It began with the horns.
Disturbed from their nestled nook
from behind my ears, where
they had slumbered for years.
They are armoured, arrogant,
bent forward and battle-ready,
ere the taste of the Strange Liquid 
had ever quit my tongue.
It lingers on in my thoughts for
very long — till I am dust and gone.

Then, a burst of epiphany!
Enlightenment betwixt my brows.
A blinding brilliant blue light,
briefly illuminates my destiny.
Not a third-eye, no — a set of two more:
all the better to see you with, dearie.
Like smooth sapphire stones
inlaid on a golden chalice
my vision is doubled; my visage —
dripping of the devil’s malice.

Slippery slithering snake-like 
rubbery ropes split the snout.
Filling the silence with
slurping sounds of saliva,
the twisting tangling tentacles 
taste the air at last, thirsty. 
Poisoned and plagued,
a menacing minotaur I make.
O, pardon my malcontent,
but poor me, poor me!

A collar of non-colour, unkempt,
and a tar-ish sleeve dripping down
traps what tuft of fur remains — 
final remnants of my past.
Red and gold scales overtake 
this nameless newborn nuisance (not I).
A Hissi’s hind, hindersome
to my quadrupedal once-upon-a-time.
The befitting bitter irony: from bovine kin,
I am shed away like snake-skin.

Outwardly outlandish, I admit,
with all that I once was, exited —
And yet, I Am. I exist!
Having conquered this
exhilarating experience.
Transmogrified in truth, but!
My memories are that of my own. 
Within what I am, I am what I was.
Without, what am I? Verily, still Kau.
My self is more than my mutation.

Kau-a-bunga!

Hear ye, hear ye! Come one, come all!
Grab your Kau Banjos and Kau Bells,
For today we're bound to have a ball.
On Kau Day, it's all about jubilant yells!

Kau Kau Farms is where the party's all set up,
With Kau Ice Lollies and Whipped Green Kau Malts,
Kaus chill in herds, so head over and say 'sup!
These kindly creatures truly have no faults.

Gentle by nature, but brimmed full with energy,
From swimming to sparring, there's plenty to do,
Lyrics may be forgotten, so just make memories.
At the end of the night, we'll all cheer and moo!

Beside the barrels of stacked and rolled-up hay,
Amidst the awn scattered across the barn,
A Kau Pinata is up high for the kids to play,
And outside are the grannies with their yarn.

Regardless, you're sure to have loads of fun.
When the party's over you'll be in the best mood,
After cooling down in the pool from the sun,
All that's left to say is: Kau-a-bunga dudes!

The Smelly Sludge Kaus: Lament of Neoquest II's Rohane

Those Sludge Kaus are annoying brutes!
They're not worth fighting for the loot,
Yet they appear, and we can't flee!
They're nasty and so grim to me.

Poor Mipsy's robe was once sublime,
Yet now it's soaked in stinky slime!
Talinia's bow is caked in gunk.
Velm's holy chain has matching funk!

I'll need to clean my sword once I
Have finished with this Ownow sty.
My Greatsword from the Shadow Gulch
Is plagued by insects, sludge, and mulch.

Besides, the stench shall overwhelm!
Myself, Talinia, Mipsy, Velm---
We're all repulsed by such a smell.
We'll surely smite these rascals well!

I hope we won't find any more
Of these gross monsters. I am sore
From slime that makes my body itch.
These creatures I just want to ditch.

The Spotted Kau Speaks of Her Pasture

Dusk arrives. I run through the sun's dying light. The sky--
it canters alongside me in its bluing haze.
But before I return home, I stop for a moment and take in
the sweetgrass, the bitter wildflowers I nibble all day.

I've nuzzled awake languid morning glories,
watched as inside them stirred the lethargic bees
who every day flit from bloom to bloom,
never losing themselves to the flowering seas.

I've stared down the glowering daisies,
their single-wide eyes with wet with morning's dew.
I've nibbled on the stems of buttercups
and watched them in spring begin anew. 

I've chased away the dandelions' fluff in one breath
and watched it fall to the earth like light snow.
I've anticipated the arrival of the regal violet,
the elegantly skirted aster and her soft glow.


In my pasture, I have learned of the seasons.
I have awaited spring's rebirth and summer's blaze.
I have seen the sky dizzied by its own stars
and now watch the sunset as I graze.

The Stealthy Kau

On a dark and cloudy night,
The wind sending chills,
A tingling sense of fright.

As tall grass sways in the breeze,
The flutter of a cape is heard,
A looming sense of unease,
Not a soul moved or stirred.

Through the silence of darkness,
Pulsated piercing blue eyes,
Resolute in its stillness,
Hidden 'neath shadowy skies.

The Stealthy Kau grazes,
Enjoying quiet all around,
Through the night he gazes,
Not once making a sound.
