My Zafara
By Zigzag_lizzie

The Zafara is the strangest thing,
With spikes along its back.
Its fur is a lovely, azure blue.
Its eyes a glittery black.

I watch her bound through sunlit fields,
And frolic in the grass,
And play beside the bubbling stream...
Is it too good to last?

As she stumbles through the tangled woods
And shapes go swooping past,
She quivers, petrified with fear,
It was too good to last.

So now she's lost and I
Hope she'll return someday.
But even now I really wish
She'd never gone away!

Here she comes! She's coming back!
And never more to roam.
I'm very pleased to have her near
Here in my Neohome.

The Shadow
By Really_awesome_d00d

They say in the night
When all things are still
And all that you feel
Is the darkness's chill,
There's a name to the fear
That enwraps your mind;
Is it the shadow
Coming up from behind?

The darkness's a murmur,
And the light flickers out,
You feel eyes upon you,
Your heart's weighted with doubt.
Something cackles; you tremble
And hope it'll go,
But it doesn't, of course,
Of that you do know.

"Hello, my precious,"
Comes the startling coo
Of a coppery vampire
Decked in midnight blue.
His eyes glow like coals
With a fiery hate,
You must flee, now
Before it's too late!

Like a shadow he flies
And blocks the way out,
There is no time to think,
There is no time to pout!
"My precious, my precious
Your time's at an end.
My fangs will subdue you,
Be at peace, my friend."

His voice drips with honey
Of the most lethal kind
Each muscle trembles
Fear consumes your mind.
Von Roo looms nearer
With his knife-fangs ready,
You twitch and you shudder,
You cannot keep steady!

You scan the room
For any weapon or tool
Meanwhile, the monster
Looses a tendril of drool.
And suddenly you see it,
What will make Von Roo sick,
Flaky white redemption,
By Fyora, it's garlic!

For the cloves of your freedom
You lunge desperately,
Von Roo's taken aback,
He has no time to see
The garlic you clutch,
The garlic he fears,
With a gasp he retreats,
Though he sheds no tears.

Clutching the garlic,
You let loose a sigh.
You slink back to bed
And beneath covers you lie.
As you slumber and rest,
You don't see the shadow
That has taken its place,
Watching at the window...

Boy's Royal Ambitions
By SDruid

Skarl gazes across the battlefield
Littered with dolls and toys,
Upon Hagan's lofty ramparts;
The mighty ambitions of boys.

The cannons lie in eager wait
To send aloft the volley,
Battles rage within the daycare walls,
But they dare not think it folly.

The angle of walls in perfect line,
The blocks set high and tight,
The cannons fire their fodder forth,
And thus enjoin the fight.

The devastation reigns this day
Between the two young kings,
And in the end, when all is done,
No victory can they sing.

For both have lost their noble forts
And now have naught but ruin,
When the Royal Nanny suggest they stop,
They both say "Nothin' doin'!"

For they believe this battle is fated
To play part in grand design,
But alas the battle is over now,
It is royal nappy time.

Wise Old King Hagan
By Puddingscoffer

One day after Neoschool,
After doing well on a test,
I thought myself quite smart enough
To endeavor upon a quest.
I traveled into Meridell,
Then a further fifty miles west,
Past the Brightvale Armoury,
Not stopping for a rest.
Once in Brightvale Castle,
My heart was thumping in my chest;
What if I wasn't good enough?
What if he finds me a mere pest?
I walked up to King Hagan,
He didn't look impressed,
Perhaps in my Flotsam sweater,
I was under-dressed.
So I decided there and then
In some snazzy robes I'd invest,
In a posh purple colour,
Bearing the Brightvale crest.
Fashion aside I racked my brains,
My first impression hadn't been the best,
So I put on my thinking cap,
And my views I then expressed.
I told him everything I knew,
And gave him a moment to digest,
I put on my cleverest face,
And waited to be addressed.
Suddenly he started chuckling,
He was having a right jest!
In fact he rolled straight off his throne!
Oh, how I was distressed!
"It's not funny!" I did exclaim,
"I really must protest!
Your laughing is quite out of order,
With rare intellect I'm blessed!"
King Hagan looked up at me,
Laughing harder he did suggest
That I should go and see his brother,
He'd enjoy such a funny guest!

A Brightvale Ballad
By Songful

Past peaceful glades of Meridell
And scattered isles lost still,
Soft breezes sweep through clearings wide
Where birds voice mellow trills.

Each single note is tranquil--
Of peace the winds here cry;
The trees that stoop are laden,
And pure clouds dot the sky.

Brightvale! ring the tarnished bells
That from the castle chime;
Oh, brightest land there ever was
Bask in this joyous time.

Behold your days of glory,
Of harvest and of cheer;
For you the songs are woven,
The way for you is clear.

Fair flowers dance in fields afar
Each tune is yours alone;
Brightvale! calls each fading wind,
Your wonder we make known.
