Lament To The Oracle (From The Losing Factions)
by Sauerkrautkid

Why must it be to your sole satisfaction
To e'er grant triumph to the other faction?
Order or Seekers, Brute Squad or Sway,
I am always a part of the group led astray!

I answer to each skirmish's convocation
While begging but one simple supplication:
That for all my bellicose, arduous toils,
I belong to the victor
And bring home the spoils.

I train, collect blessings,
And buy brand new gear,
To prepare with
The end of the truce drawing near.
When, at last, the time to unite comes around,
My faction awaits me at the Battleground.

Without mercy I battle, much havoc I wreak.
The warring ensues for one challenging week.
But again, at the end, instead of a boon,
I wind up feeling quite like a buffoon.

After my week filled with toilsome squabbles,
I get little more than some Neohome baubles.
Great condescension! A maxim you bestow,
In recompense for my battles quid pro quo.

But wise and respected, illustrious Oracle:
Your sage advice is, at best, allegorical.
Next time, please give me informative clues;
Tell me which faction's in my interest to choose!

The Ghastly Stew
by Llisal

One stormy night, with hunger crude,
I roam the house to find some food.
But the pantry I search through
is empty, 'cept for Ghastly Stew.
Oh, horror! Can it be? Oh no!
The stew from seven days ago?
Yes, in the kitchen -- gruesome fate!
The ghastly stew did sit and wait.

And nothing else left there to eat,
No slice of bread, no piece of meat.
"Still, I have hope!" I say and hum,
'cause maybe I could order some...?
Just then, with a reticent tock,
I am told by my faithful clock
there in my kitchen: 'tis too late.
This stew I'll have to tolerate.

My lips they part now, and my tongue
does taste the stew, but not for long.
Then for five minutes, tense and stressed,
I wait here, hoping for the best.
I didn't die, did not get mad:
It frankly doesn't taste so bad.
So, in my kitchen, free from hate,
I slowly empty the whole plate.

Oh, Ghastly Stew! Whoever gave
You such a name! You are so brave
And bear it proudly, and despite
The fact that you do taste alright.
To spread the truth I sit and write,
Neopia, this news is bright!
Now in my kitchen and create
A poem about the stew I ate.

Rasala The Bright
by Dortho

Rasala the bright was such a delight,
Even when she was younger.
Helping with homework and sharing her toys,
Also offering food to those with hunger.

Learning magic was her specialty
And she was quite good,
As all her teachers could see,
They were as proud as any teachers should!

Some years later there was a calling,
Something about an Obelisk falling,
Grabbing her hat and her wand slightly bent,
She flew right off, following the scent.

The brochure she got had to do with factions,
And something about needing some actions.
When she arrived, The Duchess was there,
With her stubborn snobby beak in the air,
Which is not only rude, but unfair!

"You were much more pleasant as a child..."
The Duchess did day,
This faction leader of The Sway.

"You didn't know me back then!"
"You don't know me now,
And the Order will win!"
Rasala's eyes started burning red,
Disliking what The Duchess had said.

GOOD NIGHT, Duchess.

Merriment At Merifoods
by Meowclopspurrcat

Welcome to Meridell!
We hope you will drop in,
To the shop that serves us oh so well...
Come with me, my friend!

Just around the corner here,
Right before the Glade,
You will find with a cheer
The man with goods homemade!

As you step up to the modest stall
You’ll find many staples:
Try Yeasty Bread or a Bag of Peas
And buy them if you’re able!

The shopkeeper is a jolly Meerca,
He’ll be happy to help you search
Through the piles of bread and bags of veggies
For the perfect meal to serve!

From Cups of Water to Gruel to stew,
He will serve you the best he can;
His wares may be for those with few,
But he’s known throughout the land!

But why does it seem that, every time
I walk into his shop,
That all the lovely Draik eggs
Have just gone out of stock?

Autumn In Meridell (Inspired By The Neocash Background)
by Kaylynn33333

As summer into autumn wends,
It's nice to walk among your friends
Down a sunny, narrow country lane,
While bright trees drop their leaves like rain.

No pointless journey is this, though --
To Meridell is where you'll go!
For, in that rustic, lovely shire
There are delicacies to acquire.

These country folk know how to cook!
And if you know just where to look,
A quaint wooden sign the wind is shaking
Hints at deliciousness a-baking!

Walk past the drifted piles of leaves
And through the door 'neath pointed eaves.
The proprietress will smile at you
And gesture toward the treats in view.

So many pastries, it's like a dream!
Each in a glorious autumn theme.
As the yearly harvest's gathered in,
It's time for feasting to begin.

A Pumpkin Pie or Apple Tart
Will get your season to a good start!
Spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves,
These desserts bring shoppers out in droves.

Meridell's fields yield the delicate wheat
Turned here into these tasty treats.
Nuts and sweet potatoes become pies;
Farm eggs make custards of all size!

The courgette also, here, rears its head
(If unfamiliar, just think "zucchini bread"!)
One crop they DON'T use is the marrow --
Its dessert applications are too narrow.

Once you've made your choice of treat,
Pay, then take it outside to eat.
Fall breezes seem to heighten the flavor
Of every morsel and crumb you savor!

When both you and your friends are through,
Stop a moment to enjoy the view
Of hand-carved wood, quaint window panes;
Quiet cottages lining cobbled lanes.

Meridell truly is a place
Of happy, charming country grace.
Though worth a visit any time,
Autumn's when it's at its most sublime.

As to warm Neohomes you all walk back,
Having satisfied your pastry lack,
Make plans to visit a few times more
Before winter's winds begin to roar.

Nothing lasts forever, after all --
So get your fill while it's still fall!
