Spending Neopoints
by Chavo_guerrero

My funds are slowly dwindling,
I'm afraid they'll soon run out,
The Bank Manager looks at me
With his eyes full of doubt.

"I'll withdraw another million,"
I tell him with a wink,
And he sighs to himself
As my bank account will shrink.

But, I find I cannot help myself,
There's much I need to buy,
Clothing for my Neopets
And a gourmet Parsnip Pie.

I need to read some more books
To my learned scholar 'pet,
And as for filling up my stamp book,
I haven't started yet!

I should buy myself a paint brush,
As a special treat today!
And don't forget the Food Club,
You have to pay to play!

I'd like some brand new avatars
That I can buy right now,
"I'll spin the Wheel of Extravagance
Everyday!" I vow!

Kadoatie treats and training --
Filling up my Neodeck --
Making sure my Neohome
Doesn't look a wreck.

But, as I spend I feel guilty,
For I'm running out quite fast,
At the rate I'm spending Neopoints,
My funding just can't last.

So, instead of going shopping,
Today I'm going to earn,
Enough to fill my bank up
And to end all my concern.

I'll stay inside the Games Room
Until I've replenished my gold store,
Just a quick game of Bagatelle,
Oh dear, I've spent some more....

The Beauty Contest's Ball
by Flufflepuff

The ‘pets who’ve seen the trophies, new,
Resplendent in the light,
Felt hunger to obtain one,
Though not without a fight.

But loath to muss their fur and manes,
They did what they thought best
And dressed up in formal attire
In a Beauty Contest,

Wearing masks of every kind,
Designed to conceal
Their faces. They went to the ball
With dignity and zeal.

The contest positively swarmed
With stately suits and gowns
Worn by pets who hoped to gain
A prize and world renown.

From benign to malicious,
Forms slid across the floor,
Conversed with grace, but in their eyes,
They conveyed so much more.

The merest twitch of scaly brows,
A small hint of a frown,
Screamed to their opponents loud,
“My dear, YOU’RE GOING DOWN!”

The week waned once more to its end,
With it, the masquerade
Ball. The winners gleamed with pride
Whist the rest thought they’d fade

From Neopia’s eye. However,
All wasn’t lost that day.
Mem’ries of the contest’s ball
Will permanently stay.

Lens Flare
by Alli_draggy

If your opponent overcomes your blows
Then, through the lights, your enemy's froze
For only the Battledomer knows
The true uses of Lens Flare.
Deal as much damage as you can
And, if they see, your foe would've ran
For they don't want to deal with Lens Flare.
But when an opponent uses it on you
It can feel like a stone in your shoe
For both your opponent and you
Can deal out the points with Lens Flare.
A 50-level 'pet can pay some due
And fifteen light blessings presented to you
Can give you the power of Lens Flare.
"Aah, my eyes!" your opponent cries
Because they have tried a dare.
Because they challenged
The deadly, mighty user
Who blessed their 'pet with Lens Flare.
The goggles do nothing
But the ability is something
That can give you the upper hand;
It is all thanks to Aethia's band.
Stay true to your heart
And make fighting your art
When you gain the blessing of Lens Flare.
Whoever you face
Whatever your skill
You might think that Lens Flare is overkill.
But you are wrong.
Oh, you are very, very wrong.
If you don't believe me
Challenge Kasandaria
And see for yourself.

Thirteen Ways Of Looking At A Meepit
by Musesblock

I
Among coils of rope in a cave,
The only moving thing
Was the eye of the Meepit.

II
I was of three minds,
Like a bluff
In which there are three Meepits.

III
The Meepit brushed in the autumn winds.
It was a small part of the mimicry.

IV
An owner and a Neopet
Are one.
An owner and a Neopet and a Meepit
Are one.

V
I do not know which to prefer,
The beauty of unpredictability
Or the beauty of the estranged,
The Meepit glaring
Or just after.

VI
Crisp and brittle leaves filled the path
With trembling stillness.
The shadow of the Meepit
Parade, to and fro.
The mood
Moving silhouettes
A thumping waltz.

VII
Oh giddy Blumaroos of Roo Island,
Why do you imagine soft Feepits?
Do you not see how the Meepit
Approaches around the feet
Taking you into the obscure?

VIII
I know fallen myths
And lucid, concrete rhythms;
But I know, too,
That the Meepit is involved.
In what I know.

IX
When the Meepit scampers out of sight,
It marked the return
Of one of many circles.

X
At the sight of Meepits
Waddling in a green light,
Even the furls of symphony
Would screech out frightfully.

XI
One ventured over Haunted Woods
Over a petrified bridge.
Once, a shadow shook him,
In that he mistook
The rustlings of his steps
For Meepits.

XII
The wind is flowing.
The Meepit must be bouncing.

XIII
It was eventide all morning.
It was thundering.
And it was going to thunder.
The Meepit frozen
In the silent trunks.

Twisty
by Lilahne_aluoki

Space is such a lonesome place,
Where life might leave such little trace.
Yet, it's in space where Grundos dwell
On the edges of Neopia's gravity well.
On a space station borne aloft
By the nefarious Dr. Sloth,
Or you might find them on Kreludor,
Those Grundos tired of strife and war.
Yet the loneliness of space doesn't abet,
And where would you find a caring Petpet?

If you were a Grundo, what would you do?
You might think of naming a cute, shiny screw.
Twisty the Screwtop, no, not unique,
Of the handful of screws the Grundo did sneak
From his workplace in the Hanger below.
But it's his Petpet now, even if he must stow
Tiny Twisty away, safely out of sight
In his pocket where Twisty will be alright.
Through his work shift the Grundo takes care
Checking to make sure
His Screwtop is still there.

After work the Grundo talks and he talks
To Twisty; together, the two will take walks
Along the Recreation Deck to Grundos Cafe,
And he'll tell his Screwtop all about his day
Twisting screws into girders
Then taking them out.
And how he helped hide a Cybunny Scout
From an invasion of alien spores
By sneaking the Cybunny
Into Sloth's secret stores
Of transmogrification potions; he has no doubt
Sloth's in for a surprise
When he hands them out.

Back home, the two friends might share a book,
Though it's mostly at the pictures they look.
The Grundo might tell
Of his dreams and his hopes,
Or what took place during the daytime soaps.
Together they'll get themselves ready for bed,
And with a fond pat of the Screwtop's flat head
The Grundo will wish his Petpet a good night
And they'll sleep to the glow of Kreludor's light.
The loneliness of space loses its sting
In the comfort the simplest Petpet can bring.
