GREY DAY SPECIAL PT. II
A Grey Week
by Dr_tomoe
Normally, in Neopia
sadness comes once a year,
but this year, it seems
depression is on a tear.
The dour and down Grey Day
has now come around,
but this time, a whole grey week
is celebrated to give out a frown.
Clouds of sorrow will hang in the air,
dreary rains will pour down,
all of the sadness in one day
now has a whole week to crown.
Chias, normally chipper and immune,
can now be sad and grey,
and recently Gwallas joined
in the loneliness of the day.
Breakfast will be sad as
Grey Toast starts to droop,
and a chipper dessert is down
due to grey ice cream to scoop.
At least it will hopefully pass soon
and then avoided for a while,
but on these grey days
it's okay not to smile.

Earl Of Grey
by Rielcz
The perfect drink for a wretched day,
A party of one and a cup of Earl Grey,
But no, it wasn't always this way.
Often friends visited -- they'd come and go.
Oh, all the grand festivities we'd throw!
It gave me a glow, but that was long ago.
In the Catacombs we would write and draw;
Bask in the island sun and play Tombola;
Visit the Hall of Heroes and stare in awe...
Another sip to reflect on the past,
But that was before all the wealth I amassed.
Obsessions with riches can end friendships fast.
Collections can net me some trophies, it's true,
And all the Earl Grey I could ever want, too.
But you can't buy friends who like you for you.

Why Is It So Grey?
by Trubiekatie
I’ve gone to check the weather
And the forecast calls for rain.
I miss the summer heat and breeze;
All this wetness is a pain.
There’s grey clouds up in the sky,
The cause of this gloomy day.
I walk up to the Wishing Well
And pay for it to go away.
Even the food is sad today!
There’s grey cheese and grey cake.
I’ve seen lots of sad looking 'pets
Whose hearts must truly ache.
How can a grey faerie do this?
I could not live like this at all!
I can’t even eat this grey cone;
The ice cream is about to fall!
There’s rain everywhere,
On hot dogs and ice cream.
I’ve never seen it rain this much,
Not even in a sleepless dream.
Why is it so grey today?!?
Oh, you tell me it’s once a year?
Well, thank goodness! I was worried
That this rain might never clear!

Grey-argument
by Nfm2606
I don't think of grey as funny,
so I'd rather save my money
and make my 'pets look shiny fine
and not like bathed in turpentine.
So many possibilities,
and I can barely choose from these.
I really, really love my 'pet
and think that grey will make him sad.
Nonsense! Did you ever think
of a grey 'pet dressed in pink,
or any other shiny thing
that, beside the grey, yells "pling"?
Wardrobes full of brightest colors
any other 'pet style swallows.
Paint them grey and dress them loud,
it will make them stand out proud.
Who is right? I cannot tell.
I am sure you'll paint yours well.
'Cuz, after all, that's what we do...
What you like is up to you.

Grey Day With A Silver Lining
by miraday
"You should be grateful you're painted grey,"
My classmates jeered at me last Wednesday.
My color is not simply status, but a metonymy
For my perpetual melancholy.
I had no right to be so dreary. Yet, still
In temperate April I felt the unwelcome chill.
I am a cold-blooded Chomby, after all,
The sight of joy just makes my skin crawl.
My Neofriends dreamed
Of adventure and glory,
But the mythic figures
They idolized were too cheery.
Too saturated with hope,
Thoughts like molasses: sappy.
Those undeserved dreams I repress unhappily.
Why do I not relate to bold Jeran?
Or clever Hanso?
I skimmed through the Neopedia
Not empathizing, so
Different than these Neopians
Immortalized in their heyday.
Was I grey and therefore sad,
Or sad and therefore grey?
That afternoon after school,
I trudged south of my Neohome
Leaving the outskirts of Neopia Central, alone.
A thick marine layer crept along the sky's hold;
One certainty in my life was this constant cold.
An hour of walking led me
To the impact site of Faerieland.
I, too, felt corrupted and fallen
From a once-content stance.
But, did this place not rebuild itself, redefine?
Instantly, an insight blossomed in my mind.
The faeries weren't constrained
By the fall of their city,
And neither should I
Be restricted by my mentality.
I briskly walked home
With a newfound thought,
That happiness is something self-wrought.
Once home, I reached into
My backpack and retrieved
The Neopedia that once stifled my dreams.
I glossed through the pages
Once again for an idea
And came across the entry about Baelia.
Baelia, the grey faerie once locked in a cage,
Imprisoned by a lock that withheld her name.
With external help,
She was freed from that wicked domain
And could assume her power
And regain her wings.
I set the text down.
I procured a self-empowered demeanor.
I no longer desired
To waste my time being bitter.
What color you are is not a sentence,
Nor is it defining;
Every grey Neopet can have its silver lining.
