HALLOWEEN SPECIAL

Broomstick Rides
by Chavo_guerrero

A Halloween Nimmo Plushie
Was sitting on a shelf,
Wondering what it would be like
To not be by himself.

His plushie wings were heavy,
But he flapped them just a bit,
Wondering if he should fly away
And decided he would do it.

He stood up rather carefully,
The shelf was only slim,
And suddenly he jumped right off
With a wild, manic grin!

He flapped his plushie wings about
And sailed through the air,
Then swooped out of a window
Without a thought or care.

He flew on rather steadily
Until it turned to night,
Then he remembered it was Halloween,
Which gave him quite a fright!

Suddenly, he heard a voice
And turned his plushie head.
He saw a broomstick close nearby,
And another just ahead!

He realised he was flying
With a crowd of witches that
Included a Bruce and Chia,
A Lenny, Peophin, and Korbat.

One of them just beckoned
And patted on their broom,
Then shuffled up a little bit
To make the plushie room.

The Halloween Plushie Nimmo
Settled by her side,
And all night long through Halloween,
Enjoyed the broomstick ride.

And when the night was over,
He'd made some friends; brand new,
And he decided to stay with those witches --
I would have, too, wouldn't you?

My Fantastical Ghostly Torch
by Sugarypixiestix2

Every Halloween, I hold my Ghostly Torch
when giving out candy on my front porch.
Its blue flame never burns out on me,
which helps if I've lost my house key.

I leave it lit all throughout the night,
using it as my own holiday night-light.
While it is practical, it's also snappy,
as it makes the trick-or-treaters happy.

My Ghostly Torch fascinates many folks
who are drawn in by the fire it evokes.
Neighbours commonly ask if it's a ghost
and I tell them I'm unsure of its host.

Though, there is no reason to fear it,
since safe magic is all it can emit.
As not all items of outlandish roots
have to make you shake in your boots.

Still, it's a spooky trinket to carry
if you want to appear a little scary.
I know I'm surely using it this year,
and I can't wait to see it turn sheer.

The Scariest Halloween
by Dr_tomoe

On this night of frights,
during a time of scares,
where Neopians are haunted
by things that might not be there.

Of witches and brews
and darkness and fright,
of hidden things that
all avoid the light.

Werelupes that howl
and skeletons that rattle,
wraiths that lurk
and ghouls that cackle.

Spooky things are all around --
from Deserted Fairgrounds
and haunted tombs to spirits,
specters, and robot clowns.

All those things are frightful,
and often are quite scary,
but the scariest Halloween
makes zombies look like faeries.

No, the scariest Halloween
to earn such a feat
is when all the houses are out of candy
when you come by to trick-or-treat.

The Plague Doctor Mask: Future Frights
by _brainchild_

O'er the NC Mall we go
For clothing sure to steal the show.
What to buy? A dreary dress
For Halloween? A solid guess.

Spooky wearables enthrall!
I can scarcely pick from all
The myriad of wicked wares
Sure to gather lots of scares.

Yet, a certain item calls
My name. I race across the Mall
To snatch my treasure off the wall.
In my haste, I nearly fall.

Which commodity, you ask?
Why, the new Plague Doctor Mask!
An MME sure to delight
With morphing magic filled with fright.

I put it on and, like a ghoul,
I trick-or-treat. I'm on a roll
When my petrifying jewel
Transforms into another cool...

What will it form in coming days?
We must wait a week or two
Before we see a prize anew.
Many questions it shall raise.

Future frights!

Ode To The Candy Corn Classic
by Neuroticat42

All-time classic candy corn -- taste the taste
Of Halloween throughout all the ages:
No expiration date; it’s never waste.
They’re all gobbled up and leave no traces.

You are made of white, orange, and yellow,
in a bold and simple design that thrills.
While some may suggest your taste is mellow,
It’s for you my heart with happiness fills.

Spooky food and rarity sixty-four.
I may binge on you during Halloween,
but you’re the candy all year I adore.
Autumn’s the only time for such cuisine.

This sonnet I’ve written with great aplomb.
But now it is over; time to eat! *nom*

Today Is Halloween
by Outlander_

Today is Halloween;
It is the day where Neopets scream,
"Trick or Treat!"
And get candy by the fistful.

It is Halloween,
Where Neopets dress
As ghouls and goblins,
Vampires and witches,
Ghosts and werelupes,
All for the fun of Halloween.

Yes, it is Halloween.
Neopians have decorated their homes
With spooky fright
To scare off the visitors
That do bump in the night.

Everyone is happy on Halloween.
In the distance, you hear
Happy screams,
Giggles,
And BOO!!!

Halloween At Edna's Tower
by Autotune

She deals in magic potions,
and has many a brew --
perhaps you need a nasty lotion
or a crafty spell or two?

Whatever magic you may need,
Edna has it all;
Just complete her quest with speed
and answer to her call.

Today's different, though. It's Halloween!
A very special day for her...
Yes, she'll tell you what that means!
Just give her brew a stir--

(What... what's this?)

Ah! She's given you a special gift!
A special goodie bag!
You must smile and thank her, quick,
Even if it's just a gag...

(She turned the last one into a wet fish.)

Why Halloween Is No Fun At All
by Hakunapotato

Halloween's an average day,
I don't get all the fuss.
Capes and fangs and funky hats,
Has everyone gone nuts?

Those who dress like Dr. Sloth
Never look quite right.
Ghosts and mummies, so unoriginal...
Sorry, maybe next time.

Tricks end up going way too far,
With werebeasts on the loose.
A Bruce then tried to curse my house,
But just scared my Patamoose.

Treats are neat, I will admit,
But if you eat too much,
Don't spend your 'points on a scary dress --
Your teeth will do the rest.

And, I do wonder how anyone dares
To trust the Haunted Woods,
When slimy Sid crawls up to you
And offers Halloween "goods."

All in all, I must say --
I hate to go out on this day.
I'm much too scared of Count von Roo
To speak to any 'Roo.

Halloween is just no fun!
No costume can convince.
So, take away your trick-or-treats --
To that, I say good riddance!

Hannah's "Treasure"
by Flufflepuff

The guild of thieves was huddled in such tight
And dim-lit quarters, yet did not complain.
For, they’d a year-long plan,
And one whose time was nearly
Ready to be hatched and born.
A hardened Usul, slimmer than the rest,
Spoke up with quiet, firm authority.
“I’ve had a tangle with a curse or two,
So I will join the raiding party west.
The bravest of the youngest dare not go
Too far inside the Haunted Woods, for fear
Of being turned into a Petpet. Pah!
The children have forgotten what awaits:
The best and sweetest treasures lie within!
Are we or are we not professionals?!”
So roused by her correct encouragements
Were they that cheers rang
Clean throughout the den.
Immediately, the smallest of the guild
(Including Hannah) fumbled into suits
And costumes with more fervor
Than they’d known.
The larger ones would stay behind and guard
Their treasure and did plot the smaller’s course.
So, one by one, they left the cramped den
And set forth on their journeys, seeking not
Gold but sweets of legend. It would be
A glorious accomplishment if all
Proceeded just as smoothly as they’d planned.
Meanwhile, the Usul sauntered
Toward the Woods,
Her youthful hair bound into two pigtails.
This gave th’ appearance that she was a child
And truly felt inside that it was so.
How often could she feel alive without
Immediate mortal danger or distress?
(Potential curses didn’t count -- she knew
Exactly what to do and where to go.)
She went from door to door and made her voice
Rise half an octave to make them believe
Her cries of “Trick or treat!” and bashful eyes.
The givers, captivated by her charm,
Bestowed their sweets on her, to her delight.
A chirruped, “Thank you!”
And flounce of her skirts
Did follow every trick-or-treat success.
Auspicious starts to any job or task
May not, alas, continue to the end.
When Hannah, brave one, purposely stormed in
The segment of the Woods few dared to try,
At once, the girl was struck with greenish light
And Edna, furious, stepped forth in its wake.
“Have you no sense of shame or of respect?”
The small witch bellowed to th’ immobile girl.
“You’ve trodden on the living and the dead
For what, then?!?
Goods which will but disappear.”
“Not so,” the Usul groaned,
And raised her head to stare
Directly at the witch’s eyes.
“In secret, I’d gone for myself as well,
In order to relive that which I’d left
Behind so long ago. I’ve stolen not
A thing, but merely gained what I once lost.”
With this, the head of Hannah drooped, devoid
Of energy to move or to rebut.
Small Edna snapped her fingers and, at once,
A greenish cake appeared in Hannah’s bag.
She snapped again; the Usul rose once more.
“Oh, fine,” she grudgingly relented. “Go
Enjoy your youth, for it will end tonight.”
Without a word, brave Hannah fled the scene,
A smug-yet-slighted grin upon her face.
The guild was overjoyed with her full bag,
And shared among themselves
What they had found.
The Usul, no exception, did the same,
But kept the minty cake all to herself.

The Meowclops's Trek
by Rielcz

To wander away, adventure in sight,
Little ones running as dusk turns to night.
Candy thrown 'round for the little ones' pleasure,
To them every treat is a piece of treasure.

A bonbon has fallen from a child's bucket;
Pawing the treat I unwrap and eat the choc'late.
With a grin I gaze upward at the sky;
Through the midnight haze sev'ral Korbats fly.

Though I feel so free on this cobblestone path,
Somewhere, someone must
Be devoured by wrath;
Yet grac'd by the hand of a skeletal figure
I hiss and dash -- NO ONE touches my fur.

A full moon near its zenith shines eerie,
Passion'd Werelupes must be filled with glee.
Zombies and ghosts from the graveyards quake.
(But they just want party-time and all the cake.)

Traverse down the path
Lined with pumpkins aglow --
Faces friendly, fearful, woeful; great foes
Can be found in every decoration.
Spyders, clowns, and Edna cause perturbation.

Speaking of clowns, the Fairground is near here,
Watch your back or you might just disappear
Whilst journeying through the decaying rides;
Who knows what great evils still lurk inside?

A sound from within causes me up a tree;
I arch my back but with rising panic see
That the tree has a face and also a brain.
To go on a quest right now I'm not fain.

I see a Lightmite through my single eye --
I pounce; it's lucky it has wings to fly.
Whispers carri'd by wind reach my sharp ears;
"Furniture has treat bags not seen in years."

A haunted house near here illuminates red,
Fright'ning, foreboding its internal dread
Yet screaming is heard from the other direction;
Perhaps someone's wander'd
To my master's section?
