The Beguiler
by Agallis

I'll sneak into the palace
And creep up to the Box,
And with only gentle malice
I shall neatly snick the locks.

Or, if the guard's not sleeping
I shall blink my eyes so blue --
For, I am such a sweet thing
When there's mischief 'round to do.

I shall take my dubious scarab
And jam it down the tubes,
Then gleefully yet spree-fully
My sprightly self remove.

The Neolodge
by Outlander_

Neolodge, you are swell!
You have so many rooms
For our neopets to dwell.
Which hotel shall it be?
The AstroVilla
Or the Royal Neopian,
Where my Neopet will be treated like a queen?

With so many extras for your Neopet to do,
They won't be bored when they leave you.
A swimming pool
And a burger bar,
Your Neopet will be bloated by far!

One night or two,
Your Neopet will enjoy some time away,
But you can still come
Visit and play.

The Terror Carnival
by Kelly_d60

Step into the carnival
through big top tents.
The clowns come, one and all,
devoid of any sense.

Big red noses, lurching,
cheery smile, colourful.
Manic eyes are searching
here -- be very careful.

Ever-closer, jerking
far away or near --
The smiling robots, lurking,
but all evoke fear.

The custard pies
in hand to throw,
or, from the skies,
comes your foe.

Don't hesitate in fear,
never ever, but do
Stand your ground here
and try to get through...
The Carnival of Terror.

Tax Beast Woes
by Warriorsfan_4200

Underneath ugly lamp light,
On a dreary, ugly night,
I was blindsided
By an ugly fright.
The Tax Beast struck,
What terrible luck!
Ten percent
Is what he took.

Why must he take?
Is he sad?
Does he ache?
What makes him steal
From a poor poet's next meal?

He saunters around,
Hunched over and down,
With fangs of white jutting out
Of his horrid,
his rotten,
his no-good
mouth.

The beast collects the fares,
Then returns to his lair,
Where he sits upon coins of gold...
But comfortable
they are not,
And the coins grow very, very cold.

The Tax Beast,
He must take --
For this beast's hate
Is innate.
If only his ways
Could change.

The Plight Of The Bottled Faerie
by Derrangeddragon

One day I went out flying,
as innocent as could be,
when that mad old Balthazar
first caught glimpse of me.
He laughed greedily to himself
and, before I knew it, he
stuffed me in a bottle
so unceremoniously.

“Oh, why are you doing this, sir?
Why is it me that you hate?”
I cried out to old Balthazar,
but my plea just came too late.
He took me to his home,
a rather small estate,
and set me on the table
to observe me as he ate.

I tried once more to plead with him,
“Why this personal war?
What have we faeries done to you,
and how can we settle the score?”
When he looked me in the eyes,
I remembered the old faerie lore
of a little lost Lupe, terrorized
by dark faeries in old days of yore.

As I stared onto those eyes,
that Lupe I knew him to be
“But not all faeries are like that, sir.
I’m different, can’t you see?”
He shook his head and to me said,
“You’re all the same to me.
I’ll sell you in the marketplace --
till then, you won’t be free.”

It’s then that I began to cry --
not for myself, but all for him.
“Quit crying, little faerie,” said he,
“this game you cannot win.”
“Oh sir, my heart goes out to you
who has a view so dim
of this truly wondrous world
to which you could not fit in.

What they did to you was wrong,
but I hope it’s not too late
to take it all upon myself,
and so improve all faeriekind’s fate.
To catch another faerie,
you’ll never again need bait,
I’ll come back to you, sale after sale,
and at your door, I’ll wait.

Bottle me up again and again,
this curse I take on myself,
and until every market day
I’ll sit upon your shelf.”
After some thought he agreed,
but warned me to come back or else
he’d capture the faeries one by one
and keep them for himself.

And, every day since then
I’ve stayed true to my word --
I’ve come back to him, day after day,
and though it sounds absurd,
I really think he’s began to change;
I think maybe he’s learned
to open his heart to just one little faerie,
and so I’m reassured.
