Mechanical Buddies for Your Neopets

by _brainchild_

--------

---Starring Chessangie the Royalgirl Draik, Chessella the Pastel Draik, Maldice the Stealthy Draik, and Christine, their owner!---

Christine: Hi! Is your Petpet too much work to take care of? Well, look no further, since these mechanical buddies require very little care. A splash of motor oil or a rechargeable battery will solve any woes!

Ella: My Faerie Snowbunny is WAY too much work. I can’t even eat a meal without her flying up and stealing my food!

Angie: I suppose that these robotic Petpets don’t bite?

Maldice: They shouldn’t. I prefer magical Petpets myself.

Christine: In honour of the “Machines in Motion” issue of the Neopian Times, we will be meeting some mechanical friends today. Without further ado, here are the Petpets:

      ---Airborne Minitheus---

Christine: Noble and loyal, the Minitheus has magical powers, even this one! Maldice, you will like this one.

Maldice: Meh... It doesn’t look magical.

Angie: I heard that the propeller spins continuously without a charge because it’s powered by faerie dust.

Maldice: Maybe a bit more magical than I thought, then. It can fly just like us, anyway.

Christine: The Airborne Minitheus may be an old Daily Dare prize, but it remains available on the Shop Wizard.

Maldice: Heh... I kinda want one now. Too bad I can’t have more than one Petpet...

Ella: Do you REALLY want to take care of them all?!

     Maldice: Good point.

      ---Goyalbotnik---

Christine: This curious Petpet will hide shiny objects, but since it has an excellent memory, it isn’t likely to lose them.

Angie: It had better not steal any of my jewellery! Time to get a safe...

Christine: The Goyalbotnik can be created by combining three smaller Petpets at Tangor’s Workshop in Moltara City, or it can be found on the Shop Wizard.

     Maldice: Can it fly?

Ella: I don’t see why it wouldn’t be able to fly. It would need to be recharged every so often, though!

Angie: What does it run on? Steam power?

Ella: Probably, since it comes from Moltara!

     Angie: Good point.

      ---Mechanized Laboratory Assistant---

Christine: This helpful Petpet is handy to keep around in case of accidental fires. It was awarded as a prize for helping Dr. Landelbrot repair his random events machine back in Year 16, but now that the event is long done and over with, you can buy one on the Shop Wizard for a paltry sum.

Angie: It has hands, but no legs. Does it just float or something?

Ella: I believe it does. It’s powered by electricity, not magic!

     Maldice: ---frowns---

Angie: Does this cube have to be charged every day or so?

     Ella: Of course it does.

Angie: Well, if I had one, I’d name it Cubert.

     Ella: ---smirks---

Maldice: ---groans--- What a corny name!

      ---Robot Crokabek---

Christine: This little guy looks just like a Robot Pteri, doesn’t he?

     Maldice: Indeed he does!

Ella: I think that he would match any Robot Pteri perfectly, whether nostalgic or not.

     Angie: I agree!

Christine: A Robot Crokabek can be obtained by painting a Crokabek at the Rainbow Pool with a Robot Petpet Paint Brush.

Maldice: The price for that isn’t too out of control, but it just doesn’t fit my aesthetic. As I said earlier, I love magical Petpets! I am currently teaching my Mutant Clompkin to cast spells of its own.

Ella: That sounds difficult. Is she actually learning anything?

Maldice: She has managed to cast a few basic spells, but she is struggling with the harder ones. Only time will tell.

      ---Stopngo 400---

Christine: Stopngo 400, short for “stop and go.” This great little model is ideal for fetching your pet small items. It is also very affordable!

Maldice: Who needs that when you can use magical spells to make the items float over to you?

Angie: Hey, not everyone has mastered the art of magic! Only the best students at Brightvale University are allowed to pursue a magic major. Too many students have been transformed into Mortogs by mistake...

     Ella: Ugh, that sounds horrible!

Maldice: 1000 years ago, I graduated with a magic major from Brightvale University at the top of my class.

Angie: It must get boring to be immortal!

Maldice: It’s not boring at all. I have seen so much.

Christine: Anyway, we are WAY off topic. The Stopngo 400 comes as a rich shade of purple by default, but there are other options available at the Petpet Puddle if you have the correct brush.

     Ella: Like what?

Christine: So far, you can get one in Pink, Orange, Yellow, Blue, White, and oddly enough, Island!

Angie: I’m not sure how many robots you’ll find on Mystery Island... I guess that the Island Stopngo 400 is an exception.

      ---Ultra Mega Bot 2000---

Christine: This unique Petpet is the result of THREE successful cooking pot recipes. He takes several steps (and Robot Petpets) to create!

Ella: I don’t know how humane it is to put Petpets into a cooking pot...

Angie: They’re just robots! They feel no pain.

Christine: Anyway, the Ultra Mega Bot 2000 is supposedly the most powerful pet robot in all of Neopia. It boasts a built-in console system for playing games, a jet pack to fly, and even an ice cube maker!

Maldice: Good... I like my drinks cold.

Ella: I wonder how many games are available on the console?

Angie: I hear that there are hundreds. What a way to pass a day!

      ---8-Bit Symol---

Christine: This Symol is pixelated, similar to a retro game screen. The 8-Bit Symol can only be obtained from a lucky Petpet Lab Ray zap, making it very rare!

Angie: Too bad for anyone that wants one, then. ---huffs---

Maldice: I like rare items, including Petpets. An 8-Bit Symol wouldn’t be special if everyone could get one, right?

Angie: Meh, I suppose you’re right.

Ella: For those who can’t get an 8-Bit Symol, there are plenty of other Symol colours to choose from!

Maldice: I hear that there are many other Petpets that come in 8-Bit varieties if you are lucky!

Christine: You are correct! Besides the Symol, lucky zappers may be able to snag an 8-Bit Altachuck, Drackonack, Gobbler, Kadoatie, Mazzew, Noil, Ona, Polarchuck, Slorg, Ukali, or Walein.

Angie: Wow, that’s a lot to choose from! I may not be able to get one, but at least I can admire from a distance.

Ella: That’s a nice, positive outlook, Angie.

      ---Conclusion---

Christine: So, which Petpet was everyone’s favourite?

Angie: The Mechanized Laboratory Assistant. Cubert would be such an adorable name for one!

Ella: I will take any of them over the little beast I have right now. She may look cute, but she sure is a pain to take care of!

Maldice: The Airborne Minitheus, since its propeller is powered by faerie magic.

Christine: With such a variety of mechanical Petpets in Neopia, every Neopet should be able to find the perfect buddy. Until next time, dear readers!
