| The sun continued to beat down upon the fair citizens of Tyrannia, driving the summer temperatures up the roof. Atop the plateau two pets admired the Tyrannian War Memorial. One was a White Aisha and on his back was a rather young Red Grarrl.
"Let's go to a concert!" The Grarrl demanded of his older brother.
"Absolutely not, mom would whoop both of us and you know it Char." The Aisha gave him an indignant glare.
"Come on Humphrey, please!" Char whined as his eyes grew shiny and big, bringing his small hands together in a pleading gesture. Uh oh, not *that* look! Humphrey groaned before his eyes rolled good naturedly.
"Oh all right!" He said as he caved while his sibling cheered in happiness. They made their way to the Tyrannian Concert Hall just as an enormous shadow swallowed them overhead... |

"Humph, what was that?" asked Char.
They've both heard of the rumors - a beast in the mountain - hidden in the dark. Nobody they knew every ventured deep enough into the caves - but...could this be it?
"I'm not sure, little brother," said Humphrey. "That was...probably some kind of...nevermind. Let's get our tickets, eh?"
They bought two tickets for the "Hatz" concert, and entered the arena.
"They're supposed to start in about 15 minutes," Humphrey told his brother. But Char didn't care much. His eyes were pointed at the sky; searching, looking for that creature from earlier.
"Char? Are you listening?"
"Wha- oh, oh, yes, yes, 15 minutes. That means we have 15 minutes to--"
Char's speech was cut short. A loud, screeching sound shook the entire arena. And as surprisingly as it came - it was gone.
Everyone was silent.

A crackle came over the concert hall's speakers, "Attention ladies and gentlemen, todays concert has been temporary postponed, until we can ensure the safety of our performers and audience, until that time we recommend you head on home. We will be in contact soon with information about your tickets"
Char turned to Humphrey, "I knew it was something earlier! I knew I saw it!"
"Oh hush Char, it's nothing we need to be worrying about--" Humphrey glanced up towards the sky and then towards the large crowd heading for the exit, "But we'd better be getting on home now"
Humphrey ushered a complaining Char toward the doors, "But Humph, can't we stay out a bit longer? We don't need to go home just yet do we? We'll be fine if we go somewhere else won't we?"
"Fine I guess not straight away, we can go have a game or two of destruct-o-match on the way," Humphrey crouched down, "Come on Char, hop on."
As they wandered past the Town Hall they saw Sabre-X talking to Kyruggi, the Grand Elder...

"I'm telling you, that beast is dangerous. I'm going to have to check around Tyrannia to make sure no one is still out. We cannot risk losing a citizen." Sabre-X told Kyruggi.
Kyruggi gave Sabre-X a look, then he spoke.
"Well if you go, be safe..." Kyruggi nodded to the Tyrannian Lupe.
In the background, Humphrey and Char watched and heard their conversation.
"Can we go?" Char was getting impatient.
"Yes, let's go before they see us!" Humphrey continued down the rocky hills to the game room to play destruct-o-match.
When they both got to the game, Humphrey crouched down and Char hopped off of his back. They put their neopoints in the game machine and it started.
Suddenly, a loud screech interrupted half of their game as the beast flew over them and stuck it's talons out to get Char. Thinking fast, Humphrey pushed Char aside and was about to get taken, but a strong Neopet got in front of him.

...Grarrg, the Tyrannian Battle Master. Covering Humphrey from the beast's view with his massive muscles, Grarrg gave a mighty roar, temporarily confusing the beast.
Then, Grarrg chanced a look over his shoulder at Humphrey and Char. "Run! Find safety!" he growled.
Humphrey did not hesitate.
Humphrey grabbed Char and threw him on his back, sprinting from the scene. Char looked behind him to watch.
"Grarrg!" Char cried. "Be careful!"
Char watched Grarrg attempting to fend off the beast with his Tyrannian Lupe Tooth, until Humphrey turned around a rocky bend and led them out of sight of the battle.
"Humph, what do we do?" Char wondered sadly. "Grarrg is in trouble!"
"He's very strong, Char. He'll be alright," Humphrey assured him. "What we to do is get home and check on..."
A screech ripped through the air again, silencing Humphrey. An overwhelming shadow pelted past them in the direction of their home.
"...mom!" Humphrey finished. "Char, hurry!" he yelled, pulling his brother along in the direction of their home...

But it seemed their way home was impossible, as whatever creature it was they had narrowly escaped had already been on their path.
As they scurried past the giant omelette, they noticed something in the distance. A short distance away, their normal route home was trodden with ashes and rubble from what appeared to be a fire ball dropped from overhead.
"Humph....what....what can we do? How do we get home?" Char cried to his brother. Humphrey always had the answers so surely this would be no exception.
Humphrey stared at their path to the entrance back to the jungle and was speechless. In all of his years of adventure, he had never seen the plateau so damaged.
"There has to be a way, follow me Char!" Humphrey shouted as he tried to ignore the simultaneous screeches from the the beast.
As Humphrey and Char ran closer to the jungle entrance and the damage, he could see a group of other grarrls standing together and talking.
The brothers sprinted as fast as they could, and they could begin to hear some of the chattering. It appeared the group had a heated discussion going on about...

"I am telling you," said a red Grarrl. "He is dangerous, we need to all stand together and fight him."
"It is too risky," replied a green Grarrl. "We all just need to go and hide until this is over."
"Go ask them how we can get home." Whispered Char, clenching his brother tighter.
"Good idea." Replied Humphrey, walking over to the group.
"Um, Hi." Said Humphrey. "Can you help us, we are trying to..."
Humphrey was cut off by a loud screech.
He looked up and saw the beast coming right for them, talons out.
Before Humphrey could run, the beast swooped down and grabbed...

Char!
"Oh no! Char!" Humphrey called and chased after the beast on foot.
"Help me brother! Help me!" Char cried.
The beast did not let go of Char. His talons clamped on tightly to the young Grarrl.
Humphrey looked up and saw that the beast was getting further and further away with his little brother in it's talons.
"No! No!" Humphrey stopped and panted.
Finally something whooshed passed him and leaped on the tall cliffs of the Plateau. It leaped on top of the beast and brought it down to the ground.
Humphrey ran over to the scene, he wasn't sure if Char was okay, but he knew that his little brother had to be.
From a distance, Char emerged from under the beast's wing, unharmed. The Neopet that took down the beast temporarily was: Sabre-X!

"Thank you so much!" Cried Humphrey as he ran over to Char.
"No time for small talk," said Sabre-X. "I have to take down this beast for good, go find shelter."
"Come on Char," said Humphrey. "We better go and find another way to get to mother."
"What if we go around the out-skirts of the charred area?" Asked Char.
"That just might work," replied Humphrey. "Let's go!"

"We have been walking for hours, my feet hurt." Wined Char.
"We are almost there," replied Humphrey.
After a few more minutes of walking, Char and Humphrey could finally see their home up ahead.
"Mom," yelled Char, opening the front door and running into the house. "We are home."
Char was met with silence, his mother was no where to be found.
"Where is she?" Asked Humphrey looking around.
"I don't know, but I am scared." Replied Char.
Before Humphrey could figure out what to do, he heard a loud crash from outside the front door of their house. Humphrey and Char ran outside to see...

Mom jumping down from the treetop.
"Mom!!!!!!" Char and Humphrey screamed in succession.
"My boys, you are home!" There mother cheered enthusiastically.
"Mom why were you in the tree? We thought that the beast had gotten to you as well and we were terrified!" Humphrey said as his mind stopped rushing now that his mother was home.
Mother looked at each of them and grasped them in a large hug. "I was in the treetops looking for the two of you. Linda Grarrl yelled over that she'd heard Char had been caught, so I knew I must look out!"
"Mom...aside from the whole thinking I might die thing, it was AWESOME!!! I got to see all of the plateau and the beginning of the jungle from overhead! It felt like I was a Pteri, being able to see all of the land!" Char said as his excitement rushed throughout him.
Mother looked at Char, speechless, then pulled him in tighter for a hug. "I am just glad you are safe, my boy." She said lovingly as the hug soothed her.
"Mom...what about the beast, did they get it?" Humphrey questioned, worried about the rest of Tyrannia.
"Well you see, that's the reason I didn't get down from the treetops as I saw you approaching!" Mother exclaimed. "I got to watch Sabre-X take down the beast! He tackled him right out front of the Lair of the Beast, and he was gone in seconds, swept into the Lair. All of Tyrannia is safe at last!"
"Does this mean we can go back for the concert???" Char begged of his mother and Humphrey.
"Oh son, not now. I almost lost you boys once today and I am glad to have you home. I've made some Primordial Stew and Cactus Stew for dinners, why don't we go enjoy a meal together?" Mom said with a smile, hoping her boys wouldn't protest.
"Okay mom, but only if we can make some Tyrannian Brownies for dessert!" Char giggled as he headed into the hut towards the kitchen, pulling Humphrey and Mother along with him,
