A Better Life...
by Salistina
Since the beginning,
It's a goal reached by a few.
The rich are getting richer
But alas, the poor... boo hoo.
Dreaming of that one day,
They find their own dream brush,
To paint their little Neopet
In desert, gold, or plush.
To have their perfect 'pet
Would be a dream come true,
But not seeing their 'pet is perfect
Is a terrible crime, too.
For little Neopets try so hard to please,
Only to get thrown in The Pound,
When something else comes along
Painted royal with a crown.
The little discarded 'pet
Begins to cry at night,
Wondering why his owner
Tossed him from their sight.
He starts to blame himself
For being so ugly and red,
His little heart is broken...
He is the walking dead.
Then, one day, a kind owner
Sees that little 'pet
And rescues him from pain.
The Fountain Faerie comes along...
And paints it zombie!
Braiiinnnnnnnssss...
Now the little Neopet
Is loved forever more.
No more tear-soaked tissues
Littering the floor;
He still thinks of the others
Locked away in there.
The burden that he carries --
Almost more than he can bare.
He hopes they will get lucky,
That somebody will care.
To give them a better life
Filled with love and not despair,
Don't discard your little 'pet
You make a perfect pair!

The Haiku Generator
by Kykygilde
The Kougra Rorru
Creates confusing haikus
But what do they mean?
How much meaning is
In the lines that she creates?
I find none at all.
Why should I beware
The sleeping Eyries, and why
Is yesterday hard?
My grass activates?
What? I just don't understand
Anything she says.
Yet, every day I
Visit her on the island
To get some "wisdom."

Fauna The Gatherer
by Jokerless
From her childhood to present
A talent for nurturing living things
Became apparent as she grew
Full harvest she'd always bring
With gentleness and kind spirit
Her smile infected everyone
Petpets followed behind in suit
Until one day there were none
A terrible storm frightened them
To the edge of town they'd ran
Where beasts lurked everywhere
Fauna took after them with a plan
Then suddenly a Snorkle appeared
With a great, big beast not far behind
When she raised but an apple in hand
That it took, and then became kind
With patience and good nature
No creature exists she can't tame
Absolutely without our dear Fauna
Life would never be the same

A Neofriend Request
by __falloutgirl__
There once was a Shoyru of shade,
The end of the day he craved.
He’d at once come out,
Of his caved hideout,
To bask in the light of the moon.
When the sun finally went down,
The Shoyru smiled like a robot Chia clown.
He’s soar through the night sky,
Near invisible to the eye,
Making his way to a deserted lagoon.
He’d visit this place
Through the Month of Swimming,
No matter what the weather was permitting.
Once he got to this retreat,
He was horrified to meet,
Another Neopet of the same.
Although not of colour,
One shadow, the other grey,
They looked at each other across the way.
The grey seemed sad,
But the shade was glad,
To have someone else to play a game.
The Shade reached out a hand,
Hoping to befriend.
His request was accepted,
His loneliness could end.
Although hard to see,
Both were happy to be,
Neofriends forever.

The Storyteller
by Light_magical
Whispered threads of adventure
Dart through her mind
As she smiles at those sparkling little orbs
That shine so gravely up at her.
“Ah,” so she says, “so it’s not so dreary here,
Never so dreary in this corner of Neovia.”
“Never dreary, never dreary,”
The bobbing faces agree,
“Never dreary when dear Storyteller is here.”
So Storyteller, Storyteller,
Won’t you spin us a yarn?
You have double the ears,
All the better to hear,
And, being the quick-witted Aisha that you are,
You have even heard tales
That no one else tells.
And so we listen to the daring
Of the incorrigible Garin,
And the lively misadventures
Of quick-footed Scarabs,
And we sigh in contentment
And wipe away stray tears
At your account of that touching reunion
Between a brave knight
And his beloved little sister.
And so we let your words wash over us
And our entranced eyes,
And our gaping mouths,
And our shining faces flush from excitement,
And so we beg, oh how we beg,
“Oh Storyteller, tell us more, tell us more.”
So you tell us of Fyora and Psellia and Siyana,
And even tell tales of the mysterious Ilere,
And remind us of the history
Of our little corner of Neopia,
Warning us of dark things
That are ever-so-frightful
That you drive us children
Into trembling spasms of fear.
Both the good and the bad
You relate with ease,
Until the whole room is sniffling ever so slightly
At all the injustices of the gloomy world,
When you tell of the plight of poor Baelia,
And though you insist that there is hope yet
For that downtrodden grey faerie,
Your mournful sighs send us all weeping.
Oh Storyteller, Storyteller, master of words,
Tell us of adventure, tell us of dreams,
Tell us of our home and tell us of the world,
Tell us of lands far away
That we might never see,
Oh tell us more, dear Storyteller,
Tell us more.
