Where night and day, goods are sold and bought, 
You’ll reach soft, grassy fields, far removed from the hubbub, 
And you might find a strange kougra on this plot.

This is Professor Milton Clodbottle, a well-renowned scientist
In the circles where entomology is taught, 
Keeper of the Great Habitarium where he collected data
Until he unearthed the answers he sought. 

Using nets, jars, and glasses to aid in his quest
Employing every last trick that he’s got,
He is hunting for petpetpets: small, quick-moving creatures,
And they don’t tend to stay in one spot.

His cunning and experience must both be combined
If he hopes for his prey to be caught.
And with diligent work he can finally ensnare them
Using every last trick he’s been taught.

His lifestyle is extreme and his passion unmatched, 
A work of minutia where nothing can be forgot’, 
But his contributions to science are easy to see
With the discoveries his hard work has wrought.

A Courageous Young Kougra

Lovely, balanced, and bold
In her bedazzled collar she looks beyond the balcony
To behold a lanky Biyako bouncing all about

The careful Kougra looked on with concern
While she considered the creature tucked in the corner
As the critter crawled, the Kougra counted her claws
And crafted a cunning plan to discover the newcomer's secrets

The daring Kougra decided to ignore her doubts about the danger
And dove through the doorway with defences drawn
Ready for drama or a deadly dance
Instead discovered a petpet with a delightful demeanour

The little Kougra found a new friend in this lively fellow
A lifelong friendship founded not by luck
But through the limitless courage of the lonely little Kougra
The two can now enjoy long lazy days lounging with a friend

The Attributes of a Kougra

A Kougra dreams away, not a care to be had.
The light from above plays on their stripes, counting them
One, two, three... each a mark of pride for the 'Pet.
"To be a Kougra," a father might say, "is to boastfully wear one's stripes,"
They are, some say, like the rings on a tree
Signs of long life and prosperity.

This sleeping Kougra, self-reflective in their nap
Appreciates the care and joy of their species.
To be a Kougra, they would dream,
Is to be both cunning and spry, but also to know
When best to offer kindness and sincerity.
Sure these features are common and shared by many,
But none exhibit them best and with grace like a Kougra.

Kenny the Kougra

Kenny the Kougra woke up with the sun,
there was so many things,
he had to get done.

He put on his best outfit,
and ate breakfast quick,
he did not even have time to sit.

Kenny rushed out the door,
with a smile on his face,
thinking about what this day had in store.

he could not wait to celebrate in every single way.

you drive everyone ballistic!

An Ode to the Kougra

The stripes, the tail, the ears, the claws,
They catch your eyes and make you pause.
An island native from a tropical place,
With a glimmer in her eyes and a sweet, smiling face.

Did you know that the Kougra is a wild pet?
Watch out because she just might surprise you yet!
One minute you see her, the next - where is she?!
Your eyes dart from left to right, but all you see are trees!

Until suddenly, something knocks you down!
She has pounced on you, you are on the ground!
Have no fear friend, she only wants to play,
And pouncing - well THAT is a Kougra's favourite way!

Now, you may be wondering - 
What else do Kougras like?
Big, juicy fruit, like Pinanna or Purplum,
They'll gobble them up quickly - yum, yum, yum!

So come down to the island for a visit one day,
The sun shines warmly, come and catch a ray!
Spend a balmy day with your new feline friend,
The fun you'll have with Kougras will never end!

Dream of Faerie Kougras

In a dream,
I saw the Kougras running
Up the golden hills, paws crushing
The waving grasses dancing beneath 
Full force at first but then softly—
Feathered wings spreading,
Like seraphim.

The sky became the Kougras’ dominion—
Neither lack of space nor physics defined
The aerial reign portrayed in my vision.
The Kougras soared, ascended, dived,
Piercing the clouds with new ambition
And reconstructing their sense of life.

I yearn to be one with the Faerie Kougras;
Just as they decide to fly to new heights,
I also aspire to self-determine, rise above 
The burdens of past choices and devices.
Earthbound no longer, gravity overcome,
Skyward the Kougras sail with new rites.

In a dream,
Faerie Kougras were flying
Overheard, genuinely inviting me
To take part in their airborne scheme.
