I share a declaration,
To the poetry community,
And all its lovely creations!

Your verses are creative,
It inspires me to write.
With each new gallery posted,
I try with all my might -

To write something unique,
Words that will bring about a smile,
Or even something thoughtful,
To make you think a while.

The competition is exciting,
There's always such anticipation -
Who will be selected,
And experience great elation?

Who will be disappointed,
Go back to the drawing board?
We all take turns in this contest,
While we work towards -

Better writing that makes us proud,
And all of our on-site goals,
After all, these prizes are no joke,
They in fact bank roll!

To all my fellow poets,
You are my valentine!
I wish you well this holiday,
May you rock your rhymes!

I love reading all the poems

I love reading all the rhyme schemes
Full of talent and delight.

I love reading poems in English
And poems written en Français
I love puzzling through riddles
And delighting in clever wordplay.

I love reading about famous Neopians
And all they contributed to a plot
But I also love hearing about 
How many Poogles someone's got!

Poetry is truly
A gallery for everyone
I've read poems here for decades
And I'm not ready to be done!

So here is Poetry 2700
And here's to 2700 more
Here's to every Neo-poet
And all the ones that came before!

An Ode to my Valentine Rock

Sitting there,
On the floor.
Was a box,
Filled with chocolate galore.

I reached down,
To pick it up.
And it gave a frightened,
Squeak and hiccup.

Horrified,
I stood to see.
I was about to eat,
My Petpet, so lovely!

I said, “Sorry,
My little Valentine guy.
I thought you were a snack,
Please don’t cry!”

Deceptively sweet,
Looking like a treat.
My Valentine Rock,
Is sweet enough to eat.

But don’t worry friend,
You won’t meet your end.
I will protect you,
And to you, tend.

Love Yourself

Love looks a million different ways, 
no matter how we mark the date
So I wrote this for you,
if you're ever sad or blue,
remember what today is for - 
the people, places, and things we adore.
There's a million different ways
so one can say the right way

Even if you don't want to participate
grab some chocolate and celebrate
Vanilla works too, or an apple, maybe two.
Whatever you like, nothing is wrong only right
there's 365 days to love but a million more ways to decide
how to have your best day
even when you don't feel that great

If you're lonely and you're blue 
that's okay too.
There's no wrong way to be in love
the best person to treat is the one you see
staring back from the screen

The Poet’s Valentine

On this day when love is embraced
A poet ponders his greatest adoration:
Words that ebb and flow in rhythm
Ignite his heart, bringing him elation. 

Since the beginning, Alstaf has judged
The poetry contest with vim and vigour. 
Though now he is a connoisseur of words
One may forget he once was an amateur. 

He recalls the poems from the days of his youth
By young Neopians in their poetry debuts:
The shortest poem ever written to the Jetsam - 
An ode to one’s wet pet in gallery two. 

And through the gallery’s each millennial
He learned of the power of one’s imagination
For telling stories through vivid imagery,
A labour of love poured into each creation. 

So as the years passed, poems blossomed
and continued to evolve and grow and flourish. 
Alstaf remembers the simple beginnings
That led to a lifelong passion he’ll cherish.

Now two thousand seven hundred galleries in,
Alstaf’s deep love for poetry endures.
Words remain as his one true Valentine, 
A love that keeps growing, and with time matures.

If you happened to buy or have one on hand
If not, then a Cupid Negg would be fine
I'd love it if one of those could "Be Mine"

A Valentines Day Strawberry Bouquet
Would be the most perfect thing for today
I could also take some Flowers and Coffee
Some candies, sweets, Dark Chocolate Covered Toffee

How about a Strawberry Chocolate Fondue
Something like that would make me go *mew*!
Chocolate Covered Strawberries would "wow" and "whoa"
I'd even accept a Chocolate Covered Tomato

Strawberry Kiko Candy? Or Kiko Candy Floss?
Come on, feed me quick, are you at a loss?
How about some simple Wing Topped Cupcakes
Just stop me from crying, whatever it takes

A Loveberry Rocketpop would quell mewling whines
On a day dedicated to our Valentines
Loveberrisicle would be right on theme
And surely would stop my ear-piercing scream

On this Valentine's Day, whatever you plan
Be sure to come down, do whatever you can
To help us poor Kads, waiting and wailing
For lovelies and sweethearts like you, we are ailing

A Valentine PetPet Parade

Everyone gathers around
A time of year, gone unbound!
A day of love, a day of friendship
Valentine’s Day, a day of hearts!

On this special day, an event takes place
A parade for all the Petpets of the day!
They march so proudly, happy as clams
For all the support, from all the lands!

An Acko struts first, his hearts shimmering
Beside him, a Bearog, looking cute as can be!
A Cirrus floats by, looking snuggly
As a Farnswap runs behind, looking a bit naughty!

A Slorg and a Splime slug on together
Leaving a pink trail of goo!
A Kadoatie narrowly avoids the sticky trap
As a Noil trots behind her!

You might wonder where the Rock is
But they’re stationary creatures
A Faellie wraps up the parade
Blowing kisses to the features!

A Valentine Pet, is as cute as can be!
Take one home today
For with these Petpets
Every day is Valentine’s Day!

The Mysterious Valentines Card

The Neopian Post Office shopkeeper says Hooray
For today is finally Valentine’s Day
This is his busiest day of the year
Since he must send Valentine’s cheer

So many, A Mysterious Valentine’s Card
Which makes his job oh-so hard
He works all day, the old shopkeeper
As the piles of cards keep getting deeper

The shopkeeper thought his day was done
But wait, he finds another one
This card appears to have no name
But he must find its recipient all the same

Never in 25 years had he failed to send
A Mysterious Valentines Card to its other end
He would not let this card defeat him
Even if finding the owner seemed grim

He set out to the Neopian Gift Shop
The Igloo Garage Sale was his next stop
None of the shopkeepers knew the owner
Of the Mysterious Valentine’s Day card donor

The shopkeeper sat down in his office and cried
It didn’t matter how hard he tried
Then a small voice said: Sorry sir, we didn’t know your name
We weren’t trying to play a game

This card is for you
To thank you for all the hard work you do
The shopkeeper shed a quick tear
But was soon grinning from ear to ear

Send love to all those who work hard for all
Sending a quick card is not hard at all
Valentine’s Day means showing you care

A Ripped Valentines Chia plushie
With straggly hair like a mop
Sits looking a little mushy

Long throughout the days
Many shoppers come and go
As it longs and hopes and prays
To have a home to know

But who would want a toy
Missing an eye, a leg, and arm?
They look upon it without joy,
It can't match the others' charm

And so the plushie stays and waits
Long hours day and night
To find someone who resonates
With its little plushie plight

The door opens with a ding
Welcoming another guest
The hope inside begins to sing
Put once more to the test

A Pink Chia looks around to see
The plushie sitting, bereft
Then a detail comes into view clearly:
She wears an eye patch on her left

Without even a second guess
She takes the plushie off the shelf
She brings it home and begins to dress
The little Chia just like herself

Now it sits upon her bed
Donning its very own patch
You never know where you may be lead
To find your perfect match
