Grey Day Special

Let’s Celebrate all Things Grey
by aquaantoni

Happy Grey Day!
Or sad, should I say?
It’s a bit confusing to celebrate.
So let’s break down this important date.

Today is the day to adore all things sad.
Be it Neopets, Faeries, or items you had.
Their gloomy demeanour is unmatched.
They’re just so cute, you will get attached.

Start with your Neopets, all painted Grey.
They really need a friend to come out and play.
These Pets look sad but they’re full of love.
Just bring an umbrella and watch out above.

Grey faeries are next, let’s all be glad.
Baelia, the Grey Faerie, is a valuable comrade.
For you see, her lack of magic was not the end.
She can always assist and ask help from a friend.

When Neopia was in chaos, Fyora fell ill.
The Hidden tower needed a fill.
Baelia stepped up and helped run the shop.
This reliable faerie wouldn’t let business stop.

But there’s more to Grey Day, just look at Petpets.
All cute and tiny, you could catch them in nets.
The Grey ones are especially cute.
Some very brave, bringing catacombs loot.

So on this Grey Day, buy some Brushes.
Pick up your colours before the mass rushes.
Eat a Grey Hot Dog and a Grey Ice Cream Cone.
But please hug your Pet before the day is done.

What it Means to be Grey
by i_lovee_icecream

What it means to be Grey,
May be different to all.
It might be apathy,
Or a looming shortfall.

To be Grey could mean,
To feel everything.
To remain motionless and overwhelmed,
Rendering you capable of nothing.

To be Grey could mean,
That you drag your feet.
And you have a hard time,
Taking care of yourself, even to eat.

What it means to be Grey,
Might look mostly the same.
But what it means internally,
Is an entirely different game.

Colourless and unmoving,
Drooped and awry.
Lacking vibrancy or an ability
To look lively and spry.

But the chaos it wreaks,
Inside of a Neopet Grey.
Would bring you to tears,
The different instrument it plays.

Think today,
What it means to be Grey.
Talk it over with Baelia,
On this unhappy day.

It’s more than just,
Sadness and fade.
It’s a knife in the heart,
It’s an edge dripping with jade.

A Grey Name
by eleganza_lights

It's the gloomiest day of all,
A tear will suffice,
Here’s a story of a faerie,
I will be concise.
Her wings were clipped,
All her powers lost.
Because of a dark faerie.
Who knows her cause.

She was trapped in a cage.
Nothing to eat.
Everyday her captor would mock her.
Rinse and repeat.
No one could hear her cries,
On the Mountain so high,
Not a single friendly animal was nearby.

She felt someone’s presence,
It was just past noon,
It was a little Kyrii in orange and maroon.
Tavi was unsure.
Should she help the poor faerie?
She’s heard of Dark faeries.
She was so wary.

But she played a game to set the faerie free,
Tavi said she could win
Win she did indeed.
Now they are on a hunt.
For a better name,
They will find the perfect one,
For the faerie to claim.

Thoughts of a Grey Plumpy
by gumgum101230

Feed me Mother
For I've become
Merely skin and bones
For as you see
My bowl's empty
Of any food we own

You were away
My fur's gone Grey
My mood is now depressed
My angry eyes
Are now revised
To demonstrate my stress

Don't feel deceived
And please believe
My cries of starvation
For I avow
I am allowed
To eat one more portion

Just make sure that
You do not chat
With my lying father
Who'll claim that he
Already fed me
And that you shouldn't bother

Hey, How are You?
by tkprtyrhd

Just because I look Grey
it doesn't mean that I'm not okay.
Some feelings are big, some feelings are small
some feelings consume, but that doesn't make it all doom and gloom.

It happens in fact, that this colour I lack
does not impact much in the way of how I react.
It's just a base that looks great in its place.
A palette clean while my smile is extreme.

Some days are long, some days run short
Sometimes it rains, sometimes it pours
other days can be a bore.
But others are bright, vibrant, full of sweet delight!

Just because I'm Grey, it doesn't mean I have blues to chase away.
Sometimes I'm in between feeling serene and wanting to scream.
I've tried being Pink, Purple, Green, and Blue
but Grey is just right an in-between delight,
a measured response between just right and a frightful plight.

If you ever wonder if I'm right
it would fill me with quiet delight
if you'd simply come up and say
"Hi, it's nice to see you today!
How are you doing?
Is the sky looking blue?
Is there anything I can do for you?"

Grey Day in the Guild Hall
by sir_serene

Rain taps against the walls of stone
As the adventurer walks the halls alone
Spending this Grey Day
Reminiscing the heydays
Spent in the Guild Hall where he had grown

Meridellian halls, once filled with a colourful cast
Friends, mentors, and rivals, all first class
His mind screams ‘Mayday’
On this Grey Day
As he reflects on adventures of the past

As lonely days, together started to blend
Others tell him that it was the end
But he enjoys this Grey Day
Ignores what they say
Awaits for his friends to return again

He knows in his heart that he isn’t wrong
He stands, a sentinel, where he belongs
Waiting for his payday
A new play day
With friends whom he awaited, faithful and strong

When he heard the groaning of the main door
And hear raindrops falling on the entryway floor
He knew it would be a great day
A grade-A Grey Day
Spent with his friends like days long before

A Faerie Out of Magic
by theguy2020

The Grey faerie is here to stay,
So it’s time to come out and help her today,
She is in need of assistance from you,
Make sure you tell a friend too!

One of the kindest in Neopia flying around,
Let us assist to keep her from having a deeper frown,
It is up to you to step up and assist,
She even gives out a reward with a twist!

The Grey faerie has no magic of her own to bless,
Something she often doesn’t like to confess,
However, fear not for you will be rewarded,
Her other elemental faeries always arrive to get this sorted!

From Water to Earth to Dark to Fire,
The Grey faerie can give elemental rewards for whatever you desire,
Training your Pet is easy thanks to her,
Another reason why her quest isn’t one you should defer!

You can even get blessed by the mighty faerie Queen,
Someone unsatisfied after a Grey faerie interaction is yet to be seen,
If you’re lucky, she can get the Fountain Faerie to give you a prize,
One that will certainly be a pleasant surprise!

The Grey faerie typically asks for Petpets, so be ready when she arrives,
Easy to spot as she never uses a disguise,
While she has cool prizes to work towards,
Just remember that kindness is its own reward!

Advice for Grey Day
by gumgum101230

I've been noticing that my work
Has been lacking greatly
Due to how Grey my mood has been–
Particularly, lately.

I therefore decided to approach
The great Smile Withme
To ask for help with cheering up
And advice he'd give me.

"Do not worry!" He has assured,
Straightening his vest,
"My strategies for smiling
Will help you work your best!

"First you must forget the conflicts
Occurring in Neopia,
Like the spreading Grey pandemic,
(Or you will get ideas!)

"Then toss out all your Grey knickknacks
That'll make you homesick,
Such as your UC Grey Mynci
CD of Sad Music!

"And make sure that you focus on
Being more productive
When you apply for Faerie jobs
Or you'll be self-destructive

Lastly, don't ever think about
Why you're feeling so Grey…
(Or you'll find out my creepy plan
To ruin your whole day!)

Just Another Grey Day
by togepwi

Is there such a thing as a joyous day
when so much of Neopia is feeling Grey?
Everywhere I look seems devoid of colour
Everything I do appears to be duller

Nothing seems to be going right
What happened to the future being bright?
Any positive thoughts have been destroyed
Perhaps we are getting deeper into the void

Clouds are filling up the sky,
Looks like we can’t even stay dry
What a fitting day for some rain
Will it wash away all the pain?

Is there any hope for Neopia at all?
Aren’t we pretty much doomed to fall?
Maybe it’s time for a good cry,
It pairs well with a collective sigh

There must be an end to the madness
It’s time to look for a cure for sadness!
But where should we even start?
The answer may be deep in our heart

Seems like a new adventure is brewing
to uncover some potential evil-doing
But quite honestly, I’d prefer to stay inside
It’s much easier just to hide!

Feeling Grey
by alagfalaswen

"It's horrible when one feels blue";
That's what most folks will say,
I argue that it's much, much worse
Experiencing Grey.

A blue mood may last an hour,
At most it lasts a day,
But you're in for permanent dour,
If you should be turned Grey.

Gone is the sweet warmth of the sun
Gone is the urge to play,
All happy mood boosts are undone,
in one short stroke of Grey.

Your energy goes down the drain,
Your smiles wander astray,
Each day is dull and drowned in rain,
in various shades of grey.

Think I'm being dramatic? Just look
at the shopkeeps' array,
Their zeal and zest have been forsook
Since their run-in with Grey.

If you know an afflicted soul,
Please hug them everyday,
That'll help with warming up the cold
That comes with being Grey.

Shadows of Grey
by travel74147

April showers bring May flowers
They inform us so we have something to look beyond
Proverbs do not ease my tired soul
We’re slated by the bright pigments and pastels alike

These dark low-hanging clouds fill all the eye can see
All the Grey and gloom
I embrace the frosty chill spring brings
But even the promise of sun showers fails to thrill

As if a simple bloom solves all
My fur and heart alike possess saturation of zero
While some seek heroes high above
What of those too downtrodden to lift our gaze with hope?

Yet amidst the bleakness, we find our peace
In the quiet whispers that never halt
For in the depths of the darkest hue
There lies a beauty genuine and raw

In the muted palette of the Grey unknown
We carve out our haven, our silent throne
No need for heroes in skies far up and over
For in the depths of Grey, we find our love.

What Was I Made For?
by neoaggie99999

Staring out on the sunny day,
From indoors a Grey Wocky Plushie
Looks on all alone as Pets play
Each with their favourite buddy

Kacheek and Chomby Plushies in Blue
A Lupe and Chia in Yellow
Usul and Kyrii in Red too
Nimmo in Green, Grarrl in Rainbow

Laughing in the tussle carefree,
Smiling together all cheery
How this Wocky so yearns to be
Among them rather than dreary

Alas, this is its daily lot
Sadly unchosen and left back
Yet again, others have forgot
To note the attention it lacks

All Plushies exist to provide
So companions can be comforted
Not simply neglected aside
To be abandoned and deserted

While other Plushies excite joy
What was this Grey one made for?
As it pondered its purpose as a toy,
There's shuffles from across the floor

A lonely Acara appears
Seeing it left out from the fray
Softly sobs, eyes brimming in tears
Reaches for the Plushie in Grey

Enveloped in a warm embrace
The small Plushie then understood
The role it played in this safe space
To console in these moments of childhood.

A Not So Grey Day
by maculose

A Lupe woke up to begin his day.
This particular Lupe was painted Grey.
He was kind of dreary and rather shy.
With new things, he was hesitant to try.

He went outside to water his plants.
They were just as dreary, so he took a stance.
It did seem pointless since they were not bright.
He still would water and try with his might.

The Lupe found purpose in rather strange places.
This would make others give him rather weird faces.
He thought they didn’t just understand,
And they thought he was weird since his colour was bland.

Then one day he had a visitor.
They appeared rather nice and not an inquisitor.
There were many colours on their fir.
They were very sharp and had no blur.

This Yurble soon began to speak,
All while smiling from cheek to cheek.
“I must say your plants are top notch!
They are so different and make me watch!”

The Lupe was shocked and caught off guard.
Nobody had ever loved his rather grey yard.
“Thank you so much,” the Lupe had said.
There was a sense of happiness and not one of dread.

The Yurble knelt down to lend a paw.
The Lupe accepted and was still in awe.
He met a new friend that didn’t care.
His Greyness was loved without a stare.

Bo Finds His Home
by bittersweet52

Once upon a time, many moons ago
A Yurble was lost and trying to get home
He shivered alone as the rain pelted down
Fur sodden and Grey, his face in a frown

Lured by the scent of strawberries in the air
He followed his nose, sniffing here and there
His round tummy grumbled; what delicious smells!
He pushed open a door - *ding* went a bell

A bakery it was, wrapped in warmth and light
Taking a breath, his whole body seemed to sigh
A friendly face at the counter looked up
"I've just made some tea, would you like a cup?"

The Yurble nodded shyly, chilled from the storm
He approached quietly as he looked 'bout the room
The proprietor pushed forward the cup that he poured
And waited to see what story would unfold

As the Yurble slowly sipped and savoured the tea
A strawberry cake pop appeared by his knee
Encouraged by kindness, he nibbled and beamed
The taste of the confection was sweet as a dream

At last when his story had been told to the end,
He realized that he had made a new friend
The JubJub in front of him spoke of a place
Where one could acclimate at their own pace

The Jub would make introductions if so requested
But he highly encouraged him to do as suggested
"Try it out! Everyone's family there,
The atmosphere's lovely and they all truly care."

And that is the story of how Bo found his home,
Met his three sisters and his family was formed
With his companions, Irwin the White Noil
And Irving the Ditrey, ever so loyal

Although his appearance continues to be Grey
This little Yurble has truly found his way
Into the hearts of his family and friends
And so towards happiness we all gently bend.

Grey Day Celebration
by photographically

On the greyest, rainiest day of the year
The Grey Pets come out to cheer,
Three hundred and sixty four days they wait
To go with their Grey friends to celebrate

The other days of the year are bright
Filled with colour, joy, and light
On this day, things grow dimmer
But our Grey friends see the glimmer

To them the gloom is something grand
It’s their day to get the band
Colour they lack, but joy they possess
No worries, no cares, and no stress

They sing and dance and cheer together
Not bothered by the gloomy weather
You don’t need colour or hues to have fun
All you need is someone
Who cares and understands even when you’re Grey
So come, let’s celebrate this Grey Day.
Happy Grey Day!
