Tale of the Darigan Hissi

Her serpent embrace is smooth and strong,

Scales are stunning shades of purple galore,

She serenades us with her lovely song,

And gleaming silver spikes down to the floor,

This Darigan Hissi bewitches all.

 

You can see her slither in twilight's glow,

The moonlight seen in the sheen of her scales,

At first glance you may think she is a foe,

Especially if you have heard the tales,

You will do your best to hide come nightfall.

 

But beneath the trees filled with Petoots,

Deep within a forest of dark shadows,

Beyond the blue lakes filled with Baby Blus,

You can find her at rest among the primrose,

And see there was nothing there to appall.

 

Misunderstood, she wishes to belong,

To the thriving clans of Hissis beyond,

See the sunlight set her scales afire,

Nothing more than that she can desire,

So, she waits for one to appear and call.

 

As fate would have it, someone would beckon,

But it would be a creature small and scared,

Speaking for a litter, who could reckon?

In truth, who else could be better prepared,

To care for Baby Hissis, all so small.

 

A mother snake, her tender gaze aglow,

In tangled vines and trees the sun now shines,

In warmth and safety, they find their own flow,

And she now sees and feels love of all kinds,

Joyous life, greater than she can recall.

 

These lonely hatchlings finally find home,

And she raises them all with devotion,

Throughout the land her story becomes known,

And this causes a great deal emotion,

She was once feared by many, after all.

 

What started as a tale of dreadful woe,

For a Darigan Hissi all alone,

Shows that your life is one for you to sow,

Even when starting in the great unknown,

Use this story to make your move, don’t stall.

The Ghost of Geraptiku (A Hungry Hissi)

On Mystery Island, there's a Hissi that's famed
Despite no-one knowing their story or name
You've probably seen them many-a-time
While searching for treasure to loot and to claim

Deep in the jungle, north of the isle
Is Geraptiku, all rubble and pile
Even further still, that Deserted Tomb
Might prove to be full of trials hostile

Daily, Neopians come to find riches
In mazes for days that cause some eye twitches
They hope for no trouble and hope for no traps
But usually they do come across a few hitches

A Ghost Hissi lurches out from the dark
"RAWR!" It yells with both bite and with bark
It's hungry, looking for someone to eat
The Deserted Tomb is no walk in the park

Most run with a scream, no time to look back
That Ghost Hissi sighs, "I've really got no knack"
His voice booms and roars, but deep down inside
That Hissi just wanted to ask for a snack!

Perhaps the next time you wander within
You might pay mind how that Hissi's looking thin!
Bring along treats, some lunch or some din'
That Hissi'll greet you with smile and grin
Don't be afraid that he's Ghostly like djinn
For when he's all full, he will fill you in
On where and on how to find treasures to win!

An Ode to Echo

Echo, the Ghost Hissi,
Fights with a brave face. 
For the Awakened,
She swings her sword with grace.

With blood red eyes,
And an amorphous figure. 
She dons a spirit helmet,
In a shade of faded ligure. 

A phantom knight,
With luxurious, wavy hair. 
She wears her suit of armour,
She appears with a prayer. 

Before she was a ghost,
Echo served a king,
Of Meridell in years gone by, 
Until one fateful sting. 

A gift sent to the castle,
Of an Evil Baklava.
Poisoned to perfection,
The angels sang an opera. 

And ever since that day,
When the king met his demise,
Echo blamed herself,
She shook her fist to the skies. 

And now as she haunts,
Neopia as a ghost. 
Her guilty conscience,
Wreaks havoc on its host. 

But fear not,
Echo the Brave. 
The king was not,
Yours to save.

The Echo of the Hissi Knight

There is much to celebrate on Hissi Day,
But for this celebration we should turn to night.
Some Hissis are content to play,
While others are truly a fright.
One such is the Hissi we celebrate today:
She is Echo the ghostly Hissi knight!

Echo the knight was once loyal and true,
She bravely served the Meridell crown.
Protecting her liege was all that she knew,
And she had attained some renown.
It all went wrong when she missed the clue,
Of the poison that took her king down.

Echo fell into deepest distraught,
Though once she was so brave.
With immense guilt was she wrought,
That she took with her to the grave.
But she could not find the rest she sought,
For she was without forgiveness craved.

Echo visits Qasala to meet her mummy friend,
For often spirit wanders far from her remains.
With Lanie and Lilly death is not the end.
About this party invitation, Echo explains.
As the Ghostly Knight, this party she does attend,
Though as the Ghostly Knight, all Echo craves is braaaaiiiinnnnssss.

Our slithering friends we celebrate now.
They may be snakes but they're rarely foul.

No arms, no legs but they do have wings!
Everyone loves when the Hissi sings.
It sounds a little silly but when they start to hiss,
It's not something you want to miss.

Their eyes lit with joy,
Their wings together all flap.
All their scales start to glisten,
And afterwards, they might even nap.

Thankful to have all of the Hissis there.
They end the night with quite a big cheer!

The Pound Hissi

Behind the Transfer door at the pound, I spend my days,
Watching Pets find new owners after undergoing the lab’s rays.
In this room, it gets awfully lonely,
Transfer staff? It is me and me only.

Even the Pink Faerie Uni- next door at the pound,
Gets to play with Pets until their new homes are found!
I’m happy transferred Pets’ homes are ready to go,
Even still, the silence does get to me so.


I don’t say this for pity, I need none of that,
But perhaps sometime just stop by for a chat.

I may look mechanical, but that’s not who I am,
I’m truly quite friendly, and as gentle as a lamb.

This Hissi is super quick

To keep his team winning for days
He’ll slither up close to the goal
To throw the Yooyuball through a hole

He intimidates his opponents with a hiss
And after that, he’ll never miss
He’ll sneak behind you to steal the ball
And if there’s a foul, argue the call

This year is Layton Vickles' to win
As the illustrious team DC captain
To prove Hissis are masters of this sport,
All the opponents, he must thwart!

But I know the Negg’s on Krawk Island!

...and I was wrong, but that’s alright,

The Hissi Spirit of the Crypt

The crypt is quiet yet you hear a slight hiss.
The halls are dark but you can feel the slither.
An uneasy feeling you can’t miss.
A deep fear that makes you literally shiver.

Turning right was your choice.
You can sense a presence, it feels angry.
In the darkness you hear a voice…
*RAWR* ME HUNGRY!

His deep red eyes look very menacing.
The fangs on his mouth are very sharp.
His entire presence is very threatening.
A monster you did not want to disturb.

You begin to run the same way you came.
As the monster chases you, his prey.
You look back at it and see his frame.
An angry Ghost Hissi chasing you away.

But this Hissi is no ordinary ghost.
A headdress on his head suited for kings.
Ribbons on his body unknown to most.
Adornments of gold covered his wings.

This Hissi was clearly off a royal line.
This crypt, the tomb where he lay to rest.
You wanted treasure and that is fine.
But now you’ve become an uninvited guest.

You make it out of the Deserted Tomb.
Lucky to escape with your life intact.
But the Ghost Hissi was almost your doom.
Be thankful that you survived the attack...

It is all or nothing, whoever wins
This proud Hissi loves his crew
They fight on the field till they breakthrough

They are exhausted but never give up
All in for the Altador Cup
This Hissi has no time to be sore
And even with the Darigan ball they score

Then a loud whistling sound
Happy screams in the background
And everyone knows how it goes
The battle comes to an exhilarating close

Sidney, the honourary Hissi

When I ponder famous Hissis,
My mind instantly starts,
To think of Sidney in his spiffy
and striped pink and purple smarts.

Well, imagine my surprise,
When I learned what I now know. 
My memories are all lies:
This guy is a Nimmo. 

He’ll hand you scratchcards with a smile,
Reptilian in manner.
But flies discreetly, all the while
An amphibious-type banner.

In my defence, it should be said,
That Sidney likes to hiss. 
His s-sounds like to roam and spread,
Throughout the dark abyss.

If he feels more Nimmo than snake,
That is completely fine. 
I will not rush to judge him fake,
His life is his, not mine. 

So, on this Hissi Day, I mean
To wish dear Sidney well. 
Nimmo, Hissi, or in-between: 
I can’t deny he’s swell.
