A Message from Magnus the Torch

I am the one they call Magnus the Torch
Sneezed a few times too much and my village was scorched
So for everyone's safety, I set out on my own
In a sweltering volcano, I live all alone.

With a home so remote they all call me a hermit,
But it's not remotely at all as they term it.
Though the journey up here is long, hot, and hard
Folks still come to request I sign NeoDeck cards!

Strangers are the collectors who set up their camps
Just to ask if I happen to have my own stamp
It's always heartbreaking when I must tell them "no"
And they pack up their things, disappointed, and go.

Others hear of my fire and want to find out
If they can stand the heat in a Battledome bout
Since sincere opponents, one never should snub,
I rise to the challenge with flame and with club.

But with so many guests-- what's a Scorchio to do?
What if Magnus the Torch gives a mighty "achoo"?
Fear not, my good friends, if a dusty wind blows:
I've got a fireproof hanky to cover my nose!

Is the Birthday Ona,
Who slides down a river of frosting
Just because they wanna!

But my favourite one is cute and fun–
If slimy, I must avow–
For it’s the Slorg who’s ready to
Begin the party NOW!

Valtonous Rea, Staunch Goalkeeper

When Valtonous Rea was but a young colt,
She watched her first Yooyuball game,
And from that day forth, she started to dream
of one day cementing her name 

as one of the Yooyuball Greats of All Time,
but not as your typical player;
scoring is fun, but the real challenge lay
in the steady limbs of the goalkeeper. 

It takes nerves of steel to stare down a player
and try to predict how they’d move,
Then grit one’s teeth tight, knuckle down to the wire,
the opponent’s goal to disprove.


So Valtonous trained whenever she could,
In order to grow her raw talent,
She caught and she stopped all Yooyus thrown her way
until her growing reputation 

Caught the eye of the scouts who came by every season
to look for potential recruits,
And yet, every time, they would all shake their heads
and walk away in their smart suits. 

“She’s just a tad slow to cover the whole net
She's gotta be half a beat faster,”
Valtonous hung her head, as over time, all
the criticism began to hamper 

her zeal to go pro; “perhaps I’m not meant
to be on a national team.”
Until one day, a small winged Bruce
flittered up with a shining gleam 

behind his sports goggles. “I’m Kakoni Worrill,”
and I captain Faerieland’s team.
I’ve been watching you play - quite frankly, you’re like
an exceptional catching machine!” 

“We may not be the pro team you'd like
to join, but I thought I would enquire
if you’d like to be Faerieland’s team goalie,”
And Valtonous felt her desire 

Begin to spark once more - “Of course,” she cried,
and she hasn't regretted it since.
Despite the cries that she be replaced
She takes the mean words without a wince. 

So what if her team isn't in high places?
Their efforts, to her, mean the most -
As long as her teammates continue to fight,
She will defend the goalpost.

My Grarrl Princess

To have my own Grarrl Princess;
It was a dream I worked hard for
Impossible, but I tried nonetheless.

Royalgirl Grarrls are
A study in contradiction;
Ferocious, dainty, stomping, or delicate - 
Which is truth and which is fiction?

Five years ago it happened,
And I brought my Grarrl Princess home -
Full of joy and great excitement
As her beauty shone.

Maki is a beauty
With a delicate mien
But she's also tough and
Holds her own on the battle scene.

I could not be more lucky;
I know it every day; 
I'm so glad to have my Maki,
For she's perfect in every way!

Now we had Grarrl Day
And I have to buy her a treat
For every princess must celebrate
With a dainty sweet!

The Grey Uni's Neofriends

Feeling kind of gloomy
At Neoschool, from nine to five
Wondering about her life

Something one might forget:
Unis are a versatile Neopet
If she would put her mind to it 
There is no home run she wouldn’t hit

This is difficult to achieve 
And for Grey Neopets hard to believe
When will this Grey Uni know,
And let her inner beauty show?

There is strength in friendship,
Like armour, you can equip
Neopets friends are also the best
Together they withstand every test

During this time, the Neofriends decide
There is something they have not tried
Let’s all participate together,
In a hobby, and become better

Now, the Grey Uni feels at peace
Her number of smiles increased
She is still Grey, but peppy:
Grey Neopets can also be happy

She will grow up confident about life,
With goals towards which she can strive
With her kind-hearted Neofriends,
On whose support she can always depend.

An Open Letter to Usukiland

To whom it may concern at Usukiland,
Usuki Dolls are lovely and grand.
I loved playing with them when I was young
and now that I'm grown, I'm still not done.

Collecting the dolls and clothing sets
is probably capable of putting me in debt.
My favorites are those that are famous figures,
like AAA and Abigail, or Lilian Fairweather.

I have the Bruno and Krawley here in my hand.
And I wonder if anyone understands
how much I NEED a Sophie and Lucy.
A Cursed Bruno doll would also be juicy.

While on the topic, were you aware
that there's a Quiguki of Bruno - unfair!
Just because he's in Mutant form, why must he be
consigned to a Quiggle instead of a true Usuki?

Representation matters in this day and age.
Get with the times, or you'll be upstaged!
Bruno is central in the story and plot;
His character arc is beloved by a lot.

There aren't many Mutants to look up to in the world.
Many are biased if truth must be told.
Help us alter the lens, and shed favourable light
on the Mutant community that often stays out of sight.

I hope you will take this letter to heart.
I've said my piece now, and played my part.
I sign this with gratitude for memories past.

Could steal the nose off your face.

Valin the Quick, mischievous Mynci,
Would pickpockets with great glee.

Valin the Quick, what is he thinking,
Behind his keen eyes unblinking?

Valin the Quick, mysterious and masked,
In Galem Darkhand's trust he basked.

Valin the Quick, entrusted with a task,
Deceive Taelia, surely not a hard ask.

Valin the Quick, broke in cunningly,
Of her wand robbed the Snow Faerie.

Valin the Quick, let Taelia give chase,
The silly thrill he readily embraced.

Valin the Quick, lived up to his name,
The Mynci won his fiendish game.

Valin the Quick, well, that wasn't nice,
He encased poor Taelia in ice!

Valin the Quick, he hoped this story
Would end in a Thieves' Guild victory.

Valin the Quick, alas, he was wrong.
Still, he stayed with the thieves' throng.

Valin the Quick, his tale is still told,
A Mynci rogue, impish and bold.

Hospital Gelert

“When I grow up, I want to be a doctor!” 
Is the line of so many young Pets. 
One such Gelert did just that: 
But he’s not to be confused with a vet! 

The Hospital Gelert in Neopia Central
Works so hard to keep Pets well.
His knowledge of physiology and the body
Helps make all Neopets feel swell! 

He keeps his lab coat 
A perfect, clean shade of white.
All his patients leave with a cure and smile,
Wellness is a delight! 

If a Pet is feeling achy,
He has the cure for that.
There’s not a sickness he hasn’t cured,
The viruses all say “Drat!” 

If a Pet needs a vaccine,
He’s gentle with that, too.
He helps his patients not be scared,
Unlike ghosts who say “Boo!” 

So on this random day,
Please remember the lovely Doctor.
He is the Hospital Gelert, 
One of the most proper!

Shout my Name

With a zig and a zag, the Yooyu swerves in 
And Darigan Citadel has won the game!
The crowd chants louder in adoration,
But it is not I receiving the fame. 

Since I was just a young Gelert,
Yooyuball has been my one sole desire. 
Spinning the Yooyu around the dirt
And playing this game each day with fire. 

Through the years I climbed the ranks
Of Darigan Citadel’s Yooyuball program. 
Until the day I received the chance
To star in the Cup, to show who I am. 

But this wasn’t reality, I quickly learned,
And soon I played second fiddle. 
To be the team’s star was what I yearned,
Not overshadowed by Layton Vickles. 

I stood by the sidelines, watching with envy
As Layton kept scoring, more and more. 
What could I do, who must I be
To finally earn my chance to score?

My eyes wander past the referee 
In time to catch Layton’s glance.
He flings the fiery Yooyu towards me,
And at last, I finally had my chance. 

I send the Yooyu hurtling ahead,
Straight past all the defenders galore. 
Towards the goal it sped and sped
And "GOALLLL" they call! But wait, there’s more:

Tandrak Shaye! They shout my name. 
Overjoyed fans chant as they admire
My fiery shot that wins the game,
My heroics, enshrined in glory forever.

Jhudora on Vacation

Every year in March,
Jhudora heads out of town
For Illusen, she won’t celebrate 
A time to head out of state!
Jhudora needs a vacation after all

Every year, somewhere new
She doesn't let anyone know where she goes to 
She doesn’t want anyone to ruin her plans
For she’s planned all year for a day away from fans
Away we go, once again!

A disguise is a must 
For she can’t let people know she’s a Dark Faerie 
For this is the day she’s very merry 
Everyone she comes across is still wary 
What they don’t know is it’s her day!

Away she does, happy as can be
No Illusen here, for all to see!
Her enemy thinks she’s sulking but she’s celebrating
A beach vacation, a ski trip away 
Every faerie deserves a day! 

At the end of her time, she returns to the bluff 
For this is her home, no one can touch
She’s rested and relaxed
Back to snapping at fans and getting her stuff!

Zombom's Fate

Zombom is a magician  
in the land of Meridell,  
and to get to his position  
he uttered many spells.  

His master, Ramtor, taught him  
skills like Zeal and Decimate,  
complex spells with purpose grim:  
deal damage and do not be late.  

His tower's called "Mysterious"  
where it lies upon the coast,  
Within, his arts are serious  
and they cause Zombom to boast.  

"I've been expecting you," he cries,  
"And now it's time to die."  
He lifts his arms unto the skies  
and from his hands, blue flames rise high.  

His foe -- is small but eager  
to start the awful fight:  
he chucks forth potions meagre  
'gainst Zombom's starry cloak of night.  

For hours, they do battle  
exchanging blows, standing true,  
the edge of victory they straddle,  
Zombom and plucky Blumaroo.  

Will Zombom fall or conquer  
in this fraught and torrid clash?  
It's up to each adventurer  
the timid and the brash.

The Deserted Tomb of Geraptiku

It contains treasures beyond belief;

There is a Lizark that gets sat on a lot–
Beneath it, hidden, lies a little box.

Or a Skull Book, with stories untold.

Despite there not being any map,
You may at times avoid all traps.
A chamber may appear in front of you–
The treasure of the Lost City of Geraptiku!

More often than not, you won’t get a prize–
Instead, it is *you* that a giant monster eyes.
Run, run, as fast as you can go–
You might be its dinner if you are slow!

FIDDDLESTICKS!

At times you find that the treasure is gone;
Sadly someone else has already won.
You will trudge home with your spirit broken,
For you won’t get even the smallest token.

OH NO!

The worst thing would be to set off a trap,
You frequently do–what a terrible mishap!
Your dearest pet pushes you out of the way,
There is no treasure, only injuries today.

All I want is the Deserted Tomb avatar,
But I have never really gotten very far!
I still trudge to the Tomb all the time,
Hoping that one day the avatar will be mine.

The Duchess

This Purple Lenny has aged with grace.
As the leader of the Sway, she solidified her place.
Her hair is white and styled to perfection.
Her eyes pitch black, you could see your own reflection.

A high-collared black dress covers her body.
Ruby necklaces and rings that aren’t at all gaudy.
For this Lenny has a certain level of class.
She is a very serious leader, so don’t give any sass.

When planning, she is cold and calculating.
She is always right, don’t waste time debating.
Leader of the Sway, known as The Duchess.
If you cross her, you will go home on crutches.

Her goal is a world where the Sway is supreme.
An ominous faction that can be extreme.
Don’t get on her bad side at any cost.
Before your first move, you have already lost.
