The Kacheek By callieizzymop

As swiftly as the winter wind,
A streak of blue flies by;
"Is it a bird? Is it a plane?"
Cry the people, looking towards the sky.

But they have not even come close,
For it is not what it seems;
It is a thing you'd not imagine,
Even in your dreams

It is a Super Kacheek,
A miracle by far,
It's faster than a speeding plane,
Faster than a car!

It has come to save the day,
The people all rejoice;
"I have come to save you!"
Calls a mighty voice.

So that is why the city still stands,
Though it may be old.
And that is the mighty legend
That among the people is told.

The Ones Left Behind By freezair

As I sit here,
warm and cozy in my room,
made of bouncy jelly,
I think of how wonderful my life is now,
and realize I was one of the lucky ones.
Someone just chanced to come by my cage,
one without 4 pets and an eye for my kind.
I was lucky she had money to adopt me,
and to bring me back to health.
But not everyone can share this fantasy,
to some it is only a dream.
And on long sleepless nights,
I lay awake in my Regal Oak Bed,
and think of what happened to the others.
What of the ones who were just left behind?
What of the ones
that were created, abandoned,
in less than a minute,
left to die by a cruel selfish heart?
Abused and condemned,
to a short life of cold cages,
and no food,
just horrible howls,
begging for pity,
day and night.
Sob stories,
creatures hacked from their loving owners,
and those just abandoned,
like me.
What of the ones given horrible names,
who would care for them?
I want to help them,
all of them,
escape to a good life.
But for some it will not happen,
ever.
One day my owner had to abandon a pet,
she created it by mistake.
I was there.
I will never forget the look on her face,
the sad eyes welling with tears.
At the prospect of putting any creature,
even a miscreated one,
into that place,
of horror and misery.
I knew some would get out,
but some would stay,
for eternity.
And I wonder what happened,
to those poor helpless souls,
to those poor abused things,
I wonder what happened
to the ones left behind.

The Pant Devil By gnasj

For the last year or so,
He's been taking my stuff,
And I'm really tired of it.
So I challenge him
To a duel in the Battledome,
And I'm pretty sure I can win!
For my dear Kougra has only lost twice,
And I'm sure that this ghost he will slice 'n dice!
But when I get there, I see that he's MAD,
And he won't let me win, there's no doubt!
Even though I have an Attack Fork and Slime Potion,
And two shields that reflect!
The battle starts!
My Kougra lashes out with it's paw,
And The Pant Devil casts his own spell.
I attempt to reflect it, back at the maker,
But my dear Kougra has fallen.
I try with my Jetsam, my Shoyru, and Poogle,
And each of them have a worse fate then the first.
I lose every time!
I take them to The Healing Springs,
Determined to beat that thief.
I walk out of The Healing Springs and say to my pets:

Are you ready to try it again?

"Scared? Not Me!" By rachellewis

I was born a little JubJub,
A sweet and pretty baby.
Until my owner thought one day,
"I wonder if just maybe...

That Lab Map may be useful,
It must be worth a try!
I'm sure it will be good for you,
Oh baby, please don't cry!"

And so she bought The Lab Map,
Piece by costly piece.
She put them all together,
Into their rightful place.

And then she took me down there,
To that mad professor's lab!
I sat there on the counter,
Feeling very scared and sad.

He turned that Lab Ray on to me,
My knees began to quiver...
And as that light spread over me,
I gave a fearful shiver!

And then it was all over,
My owner held me tight,
She said "You're stronger, honey!"
And I knew that she was right

Because, you see, I did feel great,
I know it did me good!
When she said "We'll come again!"
I really thought we should!

So now I am much older,
And a little wiser, maybe?
All my stats are great now,
But I'm still my owner's baby!

Of course, I'm not a Jubjub,
I've been many, many things.
I'm currently a Korbat,
With pretty golden wings!

I've been a Spotted Lenny,
And a dazzling Disco Kau.
That Lab Ray doesn't scare me...
Take me back there now!

Ode to a Frustrated Customer on Any Particular Morning By dawntiger

Sold out! Sold out! It’s sold out again!
I am as mad as a water-drenched hen
For the NeoPox Pizza is sold out again!
My pet was taken ill at six this morning
Without a single hint or tiny warning
Just all of a sudden a scream came from her bed,
“There are big red blotches all over my head!
And even bigger on my wings and tail!”
I rushed her to the hospital
Through the snow and hail
The Gelert there took one look and gasped,
“Your pet needs NeoPox Pizza, fast!
Go to the Pharmacy, don’t stop at all,
Rush through the corridors, leap over the walls!”
I reached the store in six seconds flat
For all the good that came of that.
“I need NeoPox Pizza,” to the Elephante I did shout
But she replied, “They’re sold out!”
Okay, I thought, I won’t get mad
I can wait till they restock; this won’t be so bad.
So I did, and when the next shipment arrived
Toward the pharmacist I quickly dived
Calling, “This one is mine,” but sadly so
Were forty other owners,
which meant there were no
Pizzas left when I finally came to the front
And so I sat down with an unhappy grunt.
I’ve gone through this ritual twenty times since
When I think of my pet still waiting I wince.
Sold out! Sold out! and Sold out! once more!
If my pet weren’t so sick I would walk out the door
But she is, and so, I have to stay
Waiting, waiting for the day
Or week or month or even year
When at last I will not have to hear
That it’s sold out for the twenty-third time
But when at last that pizza is mine
I’ll be so happy, for my pet will be fine!
