Grueling Gormball Games

Jump for joy! Hooray, hooray!
Neopia's Gormball championship is today!
Competitors come with Gormballs in hand
To find out who’s best in the land.

In Y2 Brian was kicked out;
He rigged the ball, without a doubt.
Thyassa was the winner here,
For him Neopia started to cheer.

In Y3 Thyassa won a second time,
His playing skills proved to be prime.
Then Ursula took the crown in Year Four,
She’d come close, but she wanted more. 

After being caught for cheating,
Brian excelled at competing.
He won Year Five’s Gormball title
With honesty, which was very vital.

Thyassa came back after a break,
And won in Y6, what a streak!
In Y7 the crown belonged to Ember,
Whose playing we will all remember!

And then, again, in Year Eight,
Ember took her second win straight!
She kept her cool, which we admire,
And still managed to stay on fire.

In Y9 Ember almost took a third win,
But Farvin III claimed it, with a grin!
Sloth was the victor in Year Ten,
He soaked competitors again and again.

Gargarox won in Year Eleven.
For that, he was in absolute heaven!
Ursula was Y12’s victor,
As she was confident, determined, and quicker.

In 13, Brian cheated again.
When will he learn? Tell me, WHEN?
Thyassa won in Year Fourteen;
His playing, at least, was clean. 

As this poem comes to a close,
We wonder what will happen, who knows?
Just sit back, let the games begin!
We’ll soon find out who takes the win!

The Gormball Players

Wear some clothes you don't mind wet
And come along to see
This year's Gormball Championships,
I'll stand with the referee.

In a circle the players stand,
Hopping from foot to foot,
All are so excited,
They can't seem to stay put!

Brian, Thyassa, Ursula,
Farvin, and Gargarox, too,
Ember, Kevin, and Zargrold the COOL
Are all standing, waiting for you.

The ref blows a whistle, the game's underway,
The Gormball gets passed hand to hand.
Each player that sees it coming their way
Hopes the fragile ball can withstand.

Suddenly, SPLOOSH! The Gormball explodes,
Poor Thyassa is soaked through and through,
The next round begins, a new ball is thrown...
Can you win at your Gormball debut?

The next one out is Brian,
Wringing out his clothes,
Followed by Farvin, who played a great game,
Timing each of his wonderful throws.

Kevin is next with Ember close by,
Followed by Zargrold the COOL,
Now only you and two others are left,
Oh, Gormball can just be so cruel!

Ursula passes, you catch without drip,
And pass it straight to Gargarox.
A water explosion bursts through the air,
Dowsing him and, beneath him, the rocks.

Ursula catches your eyes with a smirk,
The last play begins now anew,
Both you and the Usul trying to win,
Each working hard to outdo.

You reach out in terror 
As the Gormball comes back,
It explodes as you catch it this time.
You gasp as the water soaks to the skin,
You came so close it's almost a crime.

But Ursula stands triumphant,
And with a smirk she says, "My dear,
second place is great,
And they'll always be next year!"

Runner-Up

I step onto the field looking at my rivals.
Small grins forming across their faces;
each one is here for the same reason.
Each one looking to make the finals. 

The ball is released and tossed to the right,
when it explodes there will be one less rival.
I get the Gormball and throw it away,
As it bursts and intensifies 
The tournament fight.

I keep going and going,
round after round. 
Avoiding elimination and gaining hope,
perhaps the prize will be for my taking.

The numbers of rivals lower,
the pressure of each round heightens. 
Each time I step onto the field,
it seems as if the game 
goes slower and slower.

It is here, the final round, 
the others start to stare me down.
The game goes on until two are left --
It seems to me victory will be sound. 

Just me and Thyassa, 
As the ball started with a toss. 
I dreamed of the win during the whole round,
the ball went back and forth wildly.
Finally bursting to give me a loss.

And, though the tournament I did not win,
and victory just narrowly escaped my grasp.
I hold my head high 
As I shake Thyassa's hand,
knowing that I will be back to play again.

Awaiting The Exploding Gormball

The air is tense,
and now quite humid,
due to the moisture
of Gormballs exploded.

The tournament has begun,
only the best remain.
Kevin, Zargrold, and Ember
had just eliminated Farvin.

The remaining competitors
await with baited breath,
knowing that the Gormball
could explode on them next.

One second to wait,
two seconds pass,
Kevin amazingly holds it
for five seconds and lasts.

Ember is not so lucky;
it explodes, she shouts no!
It now comes down to
the Korbat and Grundo.

It weighs on the nerves,
knowing it could pop
Any second now, and then
their victory dreams stop.

Just biding your time,
because no one can know
when the Gormball you're holding
will suddenly explode.

Gargarox FTW!

All hail Gormball player Gargarox!
Ultra cool, you know he rocks our socks!
A mean, green machine,
Whose food's seldom lean,
But comes in dubious, compressed blocks.

Gargarox Isafuhlarg, our hero,
Signs autographs with a nibbled biro
Before every game,
Look, right there is his name!
Unlike Brian, that foul cheating zero!

Gormball champion in Year 11,
He beat six other players (not seven,
For when Dr. Sloth plays
Wise Gargarox delays)
And all of us crazed fans were in heaven!

Gargarox even has his own stamp
To celebrate our favorite champ,
And if you were to look,
You would find his cookbook
And a plushie for your Grundo scamp!

The Gormball championship is today,
And if the Grundo Chef's fans had our way,
Yes, Gargarox would win
And grace us with his grin
As we all shout out loud, "Hip Hip Hurray!"
